If your account is paid in full and you still get those harassing calls, add that number to your contacts, go into Options, and then "click" on the option "Send calls directly to voicemail." The phone won't ring again! ;)

This is a Verizon Wireless Financial Services number.  If you are late or services are being terminated due to lack of payment you will get a call.  Never leaves a voice message because it is an automated services.  If you call the number back from your primary cell number it will auto recognize who is calling and provide promts or updates on your account.

Thanks For the verizon explanation. I have auto bill pays and my credit card expired last month. I put in a new payment date for verizon and they ignored it. So then my payment was late and now it's double. Grrr ... Rude customer service to handle it this way. Appreciate those of you who have given input!

I believe that Verizon has something to do with it because I tried to block the number, Verizon stated that the number ( 949-286-3311 ) cannot be block.

For the past six months, every month around the time my bill is mailed out, my son starts getting these calls about 5 times a day. It might be coincidental because my bill is not late and there is no reason why I would be on any late-payment list.  I have called Verizon every month for the past 6 months (that's 6 times) to have the calls directed to my line, but that doesn't work.

I just got off the phone with Verizon about this (again).  This time I asked them to look up this specific number, and they couldn't find it. They said they cannot verify that it is a Verizon collection service.  The number does not show up on their list. Verizon CAN and DID block that specific number from my sons phone (so they say), good until September.  We'll see if that works.

BTW, this issue has been going on since 2007.  I hardly think the FTC would let a scammer get away with this for that long, so one must conclude that it is some sort of legit collection agency calling on behalf of Verizon. However, DO NOT put your personal information in.  Just dial 611 and have the number blocked via Verizon's billing department.  Every time I call about this, I am quite frustrated and abrupt.  Every time, Verizon people are kind and calming and helpful.  When you call, don't punish the Verizon workers for a bad business set up. They are just trying to make a paycheck, like you and me.
