Report a phone call from 999-999-9999 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.

A call came in with caller ID 19999999999.  I was unable to pick up and a John left me a message and asked for a return call.  He did not identify himself but asked me to call back at 1-866-716-5705.

I called back the next day and spoke to Katrine.  She said they were a company that dealt with "personal affairs."  She immediately knew who I was even though I always keep my identity private on caller ID when making all calls.  She informed me of a "debt" which had been paid off on time months earlier.  She was very shady and would not give me much information (although she sure wanted mine).

I called the company that I allegedly owed.  They informed me that I owed nothing and that they had not referred anything to a collection agency.

I called the collection agency back again at the same number (1-866-716-5705) and spoke with Antwan.  Again, my identity was immediately known.  I informed him of the situation.  I asked again the name of the agency, making known that the law states that he must give it to me if asked directly.  He informed me it was State Collection Service.

This is their likely web site: http://www.statecollectionservice.com/

I have no problems with returning a collection agency's calls when they are straight forward and identify themselves, but it is this type of shady business that really angers me.  It is the unsavory manner in which most choose to go about their business that will cause me to blow a call off more than anything.

I have (in response to your above victims) I have received the same eerie telephone/caller ID (999)999-9999 and not only was I disturbed by it, I am also pretty ticked off since I added my number to the United State's program to stop these parasites from calling me!  Apparently it didn't work because I've been receiving calls from telemarketers, or God knows who-else for well over two years.

When I first signed up, it worked just as they promised...  About six weeks after adding my name and number to their "DO NOT CALL" list, all the unknown and unwanted numbers left me alone.  Now, everything has started back up again and it's worse than ever!

They call at least ten times a day and even in the middle of the night.  I would truly like to know how to get them to stop calling me; all of them and altogether STOP!!!

If you have a solution to this problem, your advice would be most helpful.

I realize this is a public website, but I don't care.  If you can help me, or any of the readers upon this site can help me in any way with this matter, I can be reached @ donnamarie325@cox.net  Any assistance or words of advice would be most welcome.  And I am counting on you (the thousands who are reading this) to only write if you can assist me.  I am not putting my email address out there to be molested by people on the web, the way that I am being tortured by those who think that they can call my telephone number day in, night in and day/night out!  PLEASE, I am reaching out to you how have or are experiencing the same vulgar intrusions that I have had to endure from these telephone rapist's!!!  Yes, my wording might be a might extreme, but if you "a potential reader" are receiving as many unknown callers as I am, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

<Side Note>  What did happen to the Government program that had us enter our information and promised that they would protect us from these prank callers, salesmen/women?  As previously mentioned, it worked for a mili-second and here I am, asking for help again!

Well, that's the gist of my problem.  Your follow-up responses here on this site or personal emails (strictly surrounding THIS topic) will be most appreciated.

I thank you, sincerely, for you taking the time to read my post and look forward to any assistance that may be available on this topic!

    My Sincerest Thanks...
    Donna Marie

Like everything else offered by the government the DNC list is a sham.  Most calls from spoof or fake numbers originate in foreign countries like India.  Our government has no jurisdiction so they do not care. Technology exists to curb this activity but the US government cannot be bothered with protecting it's citizens.

I recently was called by this number on my cell phone, at 9:07 PM. I found this website and became worried that I was being called by some creeper who hacked my number from somewhere or some prankster was just calling to be annoying. I didn't answer it, or click ignore. I don't answer unknown callers so I just let it ring out so the caller would think I just wasn't able to answer my phone. Then, still in 9:07 PM, I was called again.

I was also texting my friend and talking to her on my FaceBook page. She told me it was HER calling, and confirmed that she had called me at 9:07 PM, two times. I texted her to call me again to prove it was her, and once again I got a call from 999-999-9999. I ignored it, and she texted me "Is that enough proof?"

I don't understand why her number didn't show up, and was replaced by 999-999-999 when she called me. Her actual cell number shows up when she texts me. Is this some kind of glitch? I do hope so. I never give out my cell phone number to anyone but friends. It's not even written on my FaceBook page.

Has anyone discovered who/what this is?  I've received 2 or 3 calls now, that I won't answer, from this number.  I have put my cell phone and home phone on the "do not call" list.

got a blocked call! Why didn't TrapCall unblock the number?
When you first receive a call, you must reject or ignore the call. At this point the call is sent to TrapCall for unblocking and then sent back to ring your phone with the number unblocked. Incoming calls are not immediately unblocked without first being sent to TrapCall.

I got a call from an "Unknown" number but it came back as (999) 999-9999. What happened? "Unknown" numbers are actually different than "Blocked" and "Restricted" numbers! "Blocked" and "Restricted" calls typically indicate that the person wishes to hide their Caller ID, while "Unknown" calls typically indicate that the telephone company may be having a problem with the Caller ID number. "Unknown" calls typically come from VoIP lines and international callers where the number may not be in the proper 10 digit format.

    Called Party
Got a call from 9999999999 just a little while ago.  Never picked up the phone, nor would I.  ...And, of course, they never left a message (what a surprise).
1-999-999-9999 on the caller ID?  Are you kidding me?  How much more obvious could this be as an attempt to scam.  A rather pitiful attempt at that.

They evidently have the ability to manipulate the caller ID system but they don't even bother to try to use a legit-looking number...

999-999-9999 is Like a guy jumping out at you from a dark alley wearing a dark trenchcoat and a black hat... One look and you know he's not coming out to do anything nice to you!

I think anyone willing to work for a company that would do things like this to people's phones have probably sold their souls away.  They are probably paid just enough to be able to afford their daily bag of dope.

Advice:  If your phone rings and the caller ID has this number on it... just unplug your phone long enough for them to move on... I wouldn't even give them the opportunity to record their lies on my answering machine!
