999-999-9999

Just received a call from 1-999-999-9999.  It looked like they were leaving an extensive message on the answering machine, but when we checked there was no message.  When we've received a call from this number in the past, it was Blockbuster.  Then after that, it was a collection agency.  Looks like this time around, it whoever is using this number is also from some kind of collection agency.  Possibly seeking to find the people who lived here over a decade ago.  ARGH!  This kind of thing often happens when companies sell their old debt lists to collection agencies.  Wish they'd do some actual research (like checking the internet and the phone book) and leave us alone.

I have received 11 calls today from this number 999-999-9999.  IThey say they are from the National Bureau of Criminal Identification Dept. and they want to talk to me or my attorney.  Who are these Indians with thick accents that are harassing people?  How do we stop them from doing this??

Got a call from 999-999-92114 on June 23 at 2:42pm. We called it back but there was no connection. We were puzzled with the 92114 digit set.  Apparently the call wasn't that important, they didn't leave a messege.

This has come on my bill more than one so I looked at the call times and compared to who I knew I talked to and it has been my sister in law who has a restricted/nonpublished cell phone number.

Wow.. Guys come one. sometimes a 999-999-9999 number on a phone bill just means it was a restricted call... No offense but when I see restricted on my caller id, I answer it. Reason, 100% of the time its my husband called from overseas.. When a soldier/sailor deployed calls, it shows up as RESTRICTED.. Then to make sure you don't see the number on the bill, the restricted 999...... number is on the bill..

I believe this is the number that is put in place of the actual number that is calling---because the caller has blocked their number from being seen.  For example, I didn't want an ex calling me so I blocked him number.  He dialed something from his phone that would hide his number and let it ring thru...and it showed up on my bill as the 999 999 9999 number.  It is when someone is blocking the caller id part of their number...So, I just blocked the 999 999 9999 number, and now he cant get thru by blocking his own number..I hope that makes sense, it sounds confusing..I know.

verizon cell phone bill shows intermittent bu consistent calls coming to one of my phone lines from 9999999999. sometimes a few minutes, sometimes more than 12 minutes.
i would say it was adult oriented since that fits the phone line holder on my plan but need verification

Got a call tonight from 999-999-9999 and I picked it up, no one answered and then hung up....2 minutes later the same number called my husband's cell phone

I found this number on my husbands phone bill.It was either once ot three times in the month of july..I guess I will have to ask my husband but I called it and  I got the state police twice...

I have had several calls from 999-999-9999 at various times and found it strange because I never heard of such a number. Last night, 8/4/2011, at 8.50pm, I again received an out of area call from
999-999-9999 but no message was left. The same with the other previous calls, no message.
Is there anyway we can find the CULPRIT who is doing this and take necessary action?

I got a call from 774-8283 with no area code at 1:50am. The 1st time I answered and didn't say anything because I didn't know the # then it called back 5 mins later and I answered and said hello and it was a guys voice "who is this"?  I didn't say anything I hung up then it called me 2 more times I never answered the phone again. I looked at my cell bill at that day and time and the number said 9999999999. I also tried to call the 774 # back and it's not a number.

Calls from 999-999-9999 :  this is not the callers real number.  This number is an automatic number identification used to hide the callers number.  The US post office uses this type of automatic number identification;  others, such as collections agencies hospitals, etc also use automatic number identifications such as 114, or 777.  
Also, beware because if you call back to an automatic number identification you may be charged.

999-999-9999    is an automatic number identification is not the caller's real number.

I've gotten 6 text messages this week from that number and its a bunch of symbols, I rather not receive any of these, I mean phone companies should be able to handle this problem right? For the customer satisfaction. No phone calls (so far) just text messages. I don't stress over them, I brush it off but would also want these "messages" to stop getting through to my phone.

Doesn't look like english at all.
I'm hoping phone companies can fix this problem.
