- BloodRedTulipI received a call about a week ago from 00253820308 an Indian/Parkistani sounding man calling himself Jack said he was from Micro Assist and that I had a virus on my PC and that he would help me clear this, I kept him talking in his very bad English, then I asked why he was making this call in English to a Dutch telephone number and why wasn´t someone from The Nederlands office calling, he stuttered and stumbled over an excuse about weekends the Dutch office wasn´t open, I was already aware of this scam as I had seen something on the English news a couple of weeks earlier, I have warned older family and friends not to listen to these calls or to do what they ask as Microsoft have said they never telephone customers with this sort of thing, please be warned just keep them talking on the line but don´t do what they ask, in the long run it costs them money and they make nothing out of you.
- Caller: Micro Assist

SCAM do not react. - george replies to S| 1 replythis happened tto my mother how the hell would someone have ''the initave'' to know this is a scam just because its a [***] calling?? some people have no experience with computers and therefore would not have a clue its a scam
- Nan replies to georgeThat is so true. These rats rely on scare tactics and lack of computer knowledge. Older people are very trusting and believe that people mean what they say. All anyone can do is to warn relatives and friends about this scam and tell them that no-one who 'phones knows anything about their computer. The scam has been on a couple of dayime BBC programmes but no-one in authority seems to care what happens to elderly and vulnerable people with these scams.
- Ireland callingSome fun with the scammers calling from 00253820308, was able to string along for 32 mins before they copped on & threatened Al Qaeda on me.
- Caller: 00253820308
- Thomas Burnsscam. call claiming to be from Microsoft Security wishing to fix problems on my computer.
- Caller: posing as Microsoft security
- JackieI had a call from this number also. I have had these calls in the past and they want you to turn on you computer etc, they say they are calling from microsoft and will check your computer for a virus blah, blas. When you agree to turn on your computer they hand the call over to another person who tells you what to do.... So today I just hung up on them. Oh, it was Eric today, sounded Indian also
- Marcus Mitchell| 1 replyI'm usually very cautious and suspicious about things of this nature; they never get me on the winning prizes, texts, SPAM emails, even phone calls, etc. I got bamboozled by them, because I was side-tracked with AT&T on a real dial-up internet issue that I'm still having now. They(AT&T) had already sent someone out to look at our line and that did not help; I thought it was some software issue that they had to fix to make my Internet stop dropping. It wasn't "out of the blue" so to speak. I got real suspicious about how he(Indian guy) was acting so(not mean) just very oddly impatient(almost child-like) with me that I decided to check the site out, which I usually do beforehand religiously. He did not fix the issue, I didn't really get suspicious about that, because of AT&T's track record; I thought that he would simply have to try again as usual. What I found upon checking the site out was that they were a scam outfit. For me, it was the perfect storm; I had PC issues with AT&T(which has a computer department) and I was right smack in the middle of them trying to fix my problem. They also may use funny numbers(having 4 or 5 digits or something like that) I'm glad that they only got me for $59.99 and I didn't give them any information. There was a special block upon the VISA debit card which would not allow him to get everything that he was after. Praise God and Jesus Christ. I'm also thankfut that they didn't mess the computer up by going on an infected site. Don't be fooled; they look really impressive; almost like they know at least a fairly decent amount about computers; they may even fix some issues within your computer; my problem was just so complicated that someone on the inside had to fix it; that's who I thought that I was dealing with.(someone at AT&T); they will take you to a site like "www.esolving.com" with offers to be covered in the event that problems should happen with your computer and peripherals--anything related to it; I'm trying to get started training on the PC and that part was enticing, too. If anyone hears about anything of this nature, you probably won't be nearly as distracted as I've been lately(also living in a rural area), do not be rude with them(as I don't want anyone getting hurt or threatened--which is rumored to happen in some of these situations) and don't give them anything. If you've given them something, unfortunately(like me), then cut your losses and run.! That is, of course, unless you closely know someone in law enforcement. My lesson is that, no matter what is going on and how stressed your life is, always check it out.
- Caller: No Name Given--Thought that It was AT&T.
- Paul replies to DavidOh the irony!

- ShanEireJust got a call from this number. Whoever was on the other side hung up when I answered. Where is this number from?
- Caller: 00253820308
- Bean Gan AinmCall (silent) 12:25pm Tues 10/4/12. I've had this before. They do it to get the name of someone in the household. Then they ring back looking for Mrs X or Mr Y, which might sound more plausibe. If the same happens today, I have a loooong poem in the Irish language which I may well read to them! Analyse that!
- liddygrJust had a call from the above number. When I answered there was silence so I hung up. These calls are a damn nuisance.
- Caller: unknown
