00501

Had a call from 00501 this morning.  Could not hear the man properly as he seemed to be in a noisy place but he said something about 'my accident which was not my fault'.  I told him I have not been in an accident.  The man may have been English but not sure.  Last week I had a missed call from 004065.  

Saw number on caller display so ignored it.

Just had a call from this number. Indian sounding man calling himself Adam - asking for the Homeowner. Said he was calling about a scheme to replace boilers with new ones. Had a new one last year so told him that and he hung up.

Came up on Caller Display as strange International number. Didn't bother answering but had 1571 message saying something about energy saving boilers.

Had a call from an Asian lady wanting to know our electricity details.
Told hew we dint't deal with unsolicited foreign calls and hung up on her.

Recorded message about insulation and solar panels

Just had a call from 00501 it was a recorded message regarding my outstanding  PPI and how to claim it back, in an english womans voice.  Didn't let the message get to the end hung the phone up on it!! Fed up of all these ppi and accident calls lately.

This number is persistanly calling. They finally got me today and are saying they are calling from the Finance Council and I have been selected by the government to take part in a scheme.  Indian accent and you cannot phone back on the number.  My phone won't block it.  Maybe I'm not using it correctly.

Got a call at 12.56 pm today from 00501.  Line held for few seconds, then went dead - after I said hello three times.  I put it down to yet another scam to get try and get me to call back - with potential cost implications.  Avoid these nuisance callers!

Received two calls today - silence at the other end when we speak then the line goes dead

This number called, 15:08, 05-Jun-14, no-one on the line.

I had a call 15.35 today? 00501 claiming to be from windows IT he was a Indian man named john (strange)
he told me my computer is corrupt and would crash and asked me to go into my device manager so I played along with him  for ten minutes, I told him all the info he was giving me is not working because mcafee is blocking it!!  he said because your computer is corrupt and has a virus  he then transferred me to his so called manager he then said you need to disable your security software so I said are you 100% sure I got a virus he said yes, I said how when I don't have a computer he then said to me I got no business wasting his time and hung on me ha ha

i get 2 phone calls every day from this number why do we have to put up with this??

I've recently started receiving calls like this from America, Egypt, some funny 008 number and now this 00501 one.  When the phone rings now I pick it up and wait for the caller to speak first. If it's one of these calls I remain silent and wait for the caller to give up.

The curious thing is, my phone is ex-directory and the most recent call asked for me by name.  So they've obviously  found my name and number from somewhere.  I'm extremely careful to whom I give my details and the only people I've given this information recently is the Nationwide Building Society.

I'm not suggesting for a second that this organisation is responsible but, having worked in the computer industry, I know that  sometimes a rogue operator will sell database information to unscrupulous criminals.

I'm curious to know if any other people have an idea how these conmen might have found your number.

Just got a call from this number. A guy with an accent said his name was James and he was calling ref a government grant for a boiler. It's hot can't be bothered to argue I have had these calls before, so just put the phone down.

They are a pain in the butt.

This is another scam, they tell you that, you get scared then they ask for details of your computer or ask you to follow a link on a site and then they take all your details from your computer.
 Never ever fall for this scam many have to their costs.

had a call from this number 8am this morning chap said he was from Microsoft i said this is a scam he said NO MAM it is not a scam he went on about my computer being hacked, he said Microsoft by now i put the phone down he phoned back angry MAM why did you slam the phone down i said where do you get my ex-directory number from he hung up yesterday i had 5 calls saying international i do not have any one living abroad so i did not answer iv got caller display so i can see the number first, it know good phoning BT up because the same sort of people are working for them

got a call from this number at 0755 this morning . The man on the other end said he was calling from London and asked if I had a computer with a Microsoft operating system .I asked  why and he said that they had been monitoring it for the last 2 days and could stop it crashing . this is bull . My virus scanner would have alerted me and stopped my internet working . When I asked him how come he wanted to know if I had a computer with a Microsoft operating system if he had been monitoring it for two days,  he could not answer . I hung up the phone . This is a scam phishing to try to get access to peoples computers .
