- ChrisThese scum called saying that they were "PC Wizard". I questioned who they were and what they wanted and said "I suppose you want me to let you have access to my computer" to which he said "sorry?" not as if he was actually sorry but as if his command of English had suddenly and conveniently left him. He tried again and I just said that whatever it was, I was not interested at which point he said "Go away" and put the phone down. He probably would have said something worse but I think that I had him on the back foot by this stage and perhaps he had temporarily forgotten any English swear words that he had learned. However, I noted that he asked for me by name and we are ex-directory! So some shizer has sold these thieving scum my details. Also, if the phone number is UK based then BT has some responsibility for giving these criminals access to the UK phone network.
- Caller: PC Wizard
- kev241i have had the same call from this number 2 nights in a row. They never actually spoke to me, seems to be one of those fastest fingers first type things where they dial numerous contacts and the first one to pick up the fone is their victim.
- MattGuess what I had a call from this number. Immediatley knew was a scam because have had these calls twice before. Reported to police but now today reported to phone provider as well.
Nothing anyone can do about these nuisance calls atm, but might want to check out
http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html and get your number(s) registered. TPS is a telephone prefernce service and has been recommended to me before and today by my phone provider. - TKing replies to kaazI got a call from these people but I was prepapred as my sister had already had a call from them. So i played along with it. I made a cuppa tea, sat down and made out I was sat with my computer.
They instructed me to open the internet. I made out I didnt know how. Told them I didnt know what Explorer was. I aplogised for being thick. Made out my mouse wasn't working...internet was slow...."oh yes, said the caller, that is because you have a bug and I am going to help you fix it"
I thanked him profusely.
I bored him for almost an hour, making him explain everything in detail, every step, telling him I was doing as he asked, thanking him for his patience.
Finally, the caller, sounding a little tired and frustrated, told me to click on my 'start up menu in the bottom left hand corner"
I told him I couldnt find a start up menu??? what did he mean.
"its in the bottom left corner of the screen on your PC madam" he said with exasperation.....
"Oh?" I said.....But I don't have a PC, I have a MAC!!!!!!
BOOM

- Don SucioReceived one call on 24JAN 2012 and two on 25JAN all from the same company called PC Wizards. They said they were partners with Microsoft and that there was a new type of virus that was undetectable and could I power up so that they could check if I had it on my PC. I told them that I would not deal with anyone that contacted me without my approching them first but they were very insistent and on the verge of being bullying. I hung up.
They knew my name so they are oganised. I warned the family.

- OvrandOvrAgnSince the start of this year, these freaks like to call at least 3 times a week. Our home phone number is x directory and I don't use it when buying things on line - so htf did they get it? And how come the scamming bar stewards are too stupid to realise they tried and failed so many times before. I have developed a few strategies for my own amusement:-
I allow my 3 or 4 year old daughters to screen the calls - If they recgonise the voice they'll have a very long chat, if they don't they'll have a very long chat (all on loud speaker it's hilarious). I especially like it when they recognise the caller is of a different culture as they are naturally inquisative.
I allow them my only password for telephone scams :Capital 'F' small 'u' small 'k' small 'o' small 'f' and small 'f'.
Sometimes I even deny I use a Windows OS as my computer uses a Doors OS.
I wish someone would beat them with a stick - DebbieJust had a call from an asian man with an english name (did not take much notice of the name as hard to understand him) claiming that i may have unresolved problems or viruses on my computer. He addressed me by my full name, but i felt sceptical about the call so just said that i was not interested in what he was saying and i put the phone down. Had a couple of similar calls in the past but always think its some sort of scam. Glad i looked the number up as so many other people have had similar calls. Please just hang up on them.
- Caller: Microsoft Wizard
- Call type: Prank
- Jim--West yorkshireI've been getting calls from this number for three weeks now. Sometimes it's a voice other times it's silent. I usually put the phone down straight away as I figured early on it was a scam. Got a call this morning and reported it immediately to Telephone preference service. I'm tempted to say when the caller asks for me:"Hang on a minute while I get him"----and then leave it for as long as it takes. It's beginning to bother my wife and it's a bl**dy nuisance frankly. Talk talk say they can give me a call barring arrangement for £3 odd a month. Thanks a bunch Talk-talk!
- LauraI have been on holiday for over a week and i am at home during the day, they have called me almost every day, i ask for details of who is paying them to fix my computer but they are vague and keep changing the subject, they insist that they are not going to work on my computer remotely and say that i will open the programmes and check for these "virus", they will talk me through it, when pushed they said that they are based in California, but they have a strong Asian accent, they are persistent and a niusance, as well as being a threat to my security.
- Caller: PC wizard
