yeh they sent me a letter and i called them they asked me to pay the money which i dont know about i rented a room and they want me to pay for the whole house thames water rate which i confimred my date of birth with them and my address because  thought they are geniue but now am wise and ready to fire them with anything i have got i left this room 8 months ago i have to write them with my tenancy agreement and payment of my house rent hope i will not affect i called them and the lady said she does not care i have to pay the money and i called thames water they asked me to send my tenancy agreement aswell which i dont know

I recieve a phone call telling me they got some mails they knew my surname and asking me if i was living at certain number i told them no it only a fews door down from me , they even told me the person name which i dont know anyone where i am . He also said the company is from Glasgow .This has got to stop im also ex directory .

asked if my neighbour still live at address, i had said yes then they asked for his number which i dont have!! they said they were from a telogram company

Rang and asked for a person of a similar name to my daughter - who doesn't live here as she is at Uni.  Wondered why the Scottish woman was a bit off when I tried to get more information out of her.  She said it was something like 'Glasgow Telegraph Company'
Glad I googled the number.  Is there anything else I should do, such as report them?

Consumer Direct are the relevant agency to report this company to.  If they are giving neighbours details away and stating that they owe money, they will be undoubtedly breaching confidentiality and possible offences under the data protection act.  Advice on this can be sought from the Information Commissioners Office.

Consumer Direct & ICO can be found online by a simple search on Google.

Watch these 'people'. They contacted my mother (elderly, infirm, ill) saying they'd (it was one male) lost contact with me and were trying to trace me as an old friend. Eventually my mum was peruaded to give them my mobile, which they then called, again saying they had some business post for me going back some time. The last address they had for me was several years old. When asked what that post might be, the response was that they first needed some details for 'data protection' and my current address. As I had no idea who they really were I refused.
Don't be taken in by these dodgy, lying [***]! Talk about data protection - does that not also apply to what my mother knows?

Received a call today from this company who said they where calling from the telegrams office
did'nt have my name and where looking for someone who had moved away he asked me my address which I would not give then hung up. Who are they what do they do.

What a dodgy company!!

We received a letter addressed to the previous occupant.  Rightly or wrongly I opened the letter due to previous debt threat / court enforcement action / baliffs etc and called the number.

This is a debt chasing company!!  How strange that our very elderly neighbour also spoke to us at the weekend about receiving a call asking if "Joe Bloggs" (name witheld) lived at the property next door, as they had an important parcel for her!!

The cheek!!  Although I must admit I have given them her current address LOL!!!!

On Friday I received a call from these people as well regarding my neighbours. When I asked who it was calling the Scottish woman said it was the Telegram Company. As these friends have family living in Glasgow I was worried something had happened but instead of asking for the father she asked for the daughter. Strange I thought and questioned her further and she began to get irratated at my questioning, I said I would get the neighbours to the phone to which she replied it was against company policy. When we got the neighbour to the phone she eventually hung up. But how do they get the numbers and information? Well tonight I have just looked up our name under 192.com and guess what? They also give neighbours addresses and phone numbers how many people are registered at the address and their names and for a small fee you can find out from them additional information from the electrol roll. Not sure how they are getting Ex Directory numbers only to say that people should investigate what type of Ex Directory level they have, as I believe there are several levels of Ex D service. The first one is to be excluded from the public directory but listed within the main BT directory and can be given out if requested. The last level is where the number is withheld from all listings and given out to no-one. My number should have been fully Ex Directory when recently changed but I now know that this request was not carried out and I will be takin this up with my service provider, Sky

Just received a call asking if I lived near a particular address and the lady with a strong Scottish accent gave a name they wanted me to confirm lived there.  I told them I had never heard of the gentleman but if they gave me their number I would make enquiries and pass the number on.  At that the caller seemed panicky and said it was "O.K.  There's another number [she] can try!"

just to cofirm my partner lived at this address so i naively did but did not realise it was fraudulent is there anything i can do.

Called me, and asked for a post code of a an old business address, and would forward on details they had to my new address. Its almost 6 years since  i worked at that old address. but they were quite quick and pushy and i couldnt even remember the postcode, which didnt phase them in the end.

i have recieved a letter asking me if this is my new address and quoting my old address from ten years ago? i dont think i have any outstanding debts or owe money could these people be doing some crime on me? shall i call the police or call in with the letter? any advice?

These people contacted my neighbour about my daughter. She moved out years ago. They mumbled that they were the telegram company or something, but wouldn't repeat it when my neighbour asked them to repeat who they were. This "company" Capquest, must be breaking every rule in the book how do they get away with it?

This company needs reporting to police and advise everyone to do this.  They harrassed my parents and the next door neighbours who are OAP's .  They need to be stopped.

I have just received a call from these people quote my current and an old address. Has anybody reported them and if so then to who.

Got a call from this number to ask about a neighbour. Warning bells rang straight away didn't know the person anyway. looked into it any found out about this company called them this morning and read the riot act. Told them they were underhand and deceitful and if they ever called again I would go to the police and the papers.

Had several letters from Capquest saying IO owed a water bill of about £55 from 6 years ago, threatening letters normal stuff. Sent them several emails telling to show me evidence, none of which were answered, now leaving me phone messages pre recorded and last call from Telogram claiming to have a piece of mail they need to mail out, best policy to ignore and give them nothing!!!!!

I had a call for my sister to ask if she still lives at my mothers add as they had 2 adds for her so i took a message, when my sister called they told her, that her old bank were trying to get in touch with her she hasnt been with them for years when she called them the owed her money for something to do with a old loan.
