this number called left no message

got a call from a phone number almost the same as this 01252576371 on my mobile wanting to confirm details about a relative and her address ect said they had a letter to forward i asked how they got my number and the caller with an asian accent said off a national register

just had a call from 01252576376   asking what road I live on.  and Does this number relate to Tongemoor Rd which it doesn't.  I didn't expand and just kept saying no.  He had a strong scottish accent,  It didn't ring true as most people who ring a wrong number apologise immediately and ring off he just kept asking for confirmation.

Similar to you all, I received a call saying they were DVSL and they had a parcel for someone with my surname, and the initial (C) of my wife's name.  They then said they had two names, Chelsea being one of them.  I said no (wife's name is different) and did he want anything else.  He asked again about Chelsea, clearly looking for my wife's name.  I said I couldn't help him as I had never heard of this Chelsea person.  Call over.
I called the police and told them, as it is not (yet) harassment, nor a specific scam they could do no more than take the details and give me a reference number in case it escalates.  They recommended I call Trading Standards.

They have called me twice now, once from the 0125 number looking for information on my neighbour. Obviously I wouldn't give them any info. Today they called again looking for info on me, but they called from 02084958734. I also found out from them that they get their information from Data discoveries.com. I have emailed and written a letter to Data discoveries asking for all my details to be removed from their data base as well as their system.

I received a call on my mobile from 01252 576376 and when I answered the bloke asked if he had got through to and said the name of my road. So I asked him what did he mean and he said that he was from Telegram Ltd and that he was trying to get hold of someone on that street as he had an urgent letter for them and my number was linked to this road. He then told me the number of the house he was after and asked if I lived next door or if I knew the gentlemen he was after, giving me his name. He explained that he had tried their landline but it seemed to be cut off. I said I don't give information about myself or others out to some one I don't know and that if the letter was that important then he should hand deliver it himself. It all sounds very dodgy and I would like to know how they have got hold of my mobile number.

I got a call from DVSL on my mobile from thsi number asking if a mitchel of the same surname lived at my address and coudl they confirm that as they had to be sure a parcel got to the right destination.  they asked if this mitchel was a relative mine, i asked who they were and why they had my number and they said they had my number as a person to call to make contact with mitchel.  they said they were dslv communication company and i told them their communications were very wrong and perhaps they needed to check this!!  i knew it was a scam but it worries me so much that someone is targetting people like this.

today seems to be the day of weird calls!
got a call from this number about 15 minutes ago. i asked the woman if we requested a call, or why does she made cold calls what is against the law. i also told her that my number is in the list of blocked numbers and is not allowed to call and when they call again they will be reported and i hung up. didn't even let her go any further to ask for a person or confirmation of names or houses. she only managed to ask if we would be xxx house, so she new the house name.

Just been called from same number this afternoon asking about my neighbour. I just played dumb and said I didnt know their name as they were New. Glad i did now I know they are debt collector's. How dare they ring me about them.

I just had a missed call off this number so rang back and they asked for a reference number. I didn't have one so the woman checked my number against the system. She knew the name of my road and asked if I knew someone called Nicole and number 42. I said no and she replied with 'sorry ok wrong number'. When I asked who was calling (twice) she muttered something that sounded like dvla but wasn't. Should I report to the police?

I just rang back in the hope for a different operator and I did. I asked what they wanted and he said it was to help deliver mail to a Nicola someone at number 42. I said I didn't know who she was and how did he get my number? He said from a consented data base. And not to worry because the mail has now been deliverered. It worries me that my number is matched with my address and available to people like this. What can I do?

A bit odd I think

13/11/2012 10.15am had a call from 01252576376 asking me to confirm my address & did i know someone form next door they were trying to contact. I thought the conversation was suspicious & didnt confirm anything.  The details they used werent correct and knew from the start that this was a bogus call.

just got a call from this number and  asked to confirm my address.. then asked if at number 37 a ayesha lived there and asked for there telephone number.. i didnt click on at first until the last second when they hung up.. also said something about a mial for them or something... thing the said they were calling from tele something

I have just had a call from a scottish female on 01252 576376 she told me she was from DVLS, asking me about a neighbour, I asked her how she got my number but I didn't understand her reply, she asked me about a neighbour living a couple of doors from me, I explained I didn't know the names of these people she then asked me if she was called margarita and the man was called Dave,I explained although I do not speak to these neighbours I was happy to pass on any message or contact number ( she declined )she wanted me to give her a contact phone number for my neighbours I explained again to her, I do not speak to these people so how would I have there phone number..she seemed very interested to speak to these neighbours but like a fool I didn't persist on finding out about how she got my number I'm ex directory, I was shocked to see this number come up when I stuck it in a google ...who are these people...I will let my phone go to answer if that number comes up again

The calls are coming from a company who also are taxi drivers. Harry Downie is the boss man there, call him back at night, he hates it, his personal number is 0793 222 7451

received a call saying they were from dvla and asked if i knew a person called david evans 2 doors away from me i googled the number and they are a debt collecting agency..

Just to clear up some of the inaccurate acronyms being reported above, it's actually DVSL which stands for Data Verification Services Limited, which is what they told me when I asked what that stands for.

They are department of CapQuest debt collectors, and use various other numbers as do CapQuest themselves.

I believe they are trying to verify who you are before CapQuest themselves start writing/calling.

I KEEP GETTING THESE CALLS WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP THEM THERE IS NEVER ANYONE THERE.

My son recieved a call from this number 01252576376 stating that they were DVLS, asking for him by name and  asking him to confirm his address and was there a Malissa next door as they had a delivery for her.  He told him no and they hang up.

I thought this is very strange so checked the internet.
