i had my next door neighbour come round saying some people phoned her asking for me =/ and could i call them back. thank god i googled the number first. glad to know it was a scam

Just had a missed call to my mobile. Glad i checked here 1st.  Scamming sods.  I have a clear credit report and owe no debts as such.

Got a message left on our voicemail at about 3:15 today asking to call quoting a reference number that I couldn't make out. I called back and was aked for the first line of my address and date of birth, which I gave without thinking. I was then asked if I knew someone who lived in the block of flats next door. I then started to get suspicious so ended the call as soon as I could. They gave the company name as DVSL.

11.55am,25th October 2011. I was called from this number (I 1471'd it) They wanted me to give details about a house that was next door to me!! I was very suspicious and gave no details at all - this is rather odd - don't you think?

Just has this call frim DVSL!, asking me about a neighbour, I stated I didn't konw them, he got very arrogant and said didn't I know any of my neighbours, I told him none of his business and hung up, worringly they rang on my mobile and landline, definatly a scam

I Have Just Recieved A Phone Call From 01252576376 asking and confirming my uncles and aunts address. They said they had a package to deliver to them and they said the right names and the right address, how they got my phone number I do not know. The man actually asked for my mum and I said yes what is this regarding , and he started talking to me about it (probably thinking I was an easier target). I dont know how they got our names or there names as we are not with the directory or anything like that anymore. Is this illegal?

received a phone call asking for my daughter, they said I was a personal matter and would not give me thier name, so I did not give them her mobile number they asked for her to ring 0844 2487983 and quoted a referance number, doing 1471 yieded 01252 576350 which I googled,

Reading this page I am concerned that this is a dubious organision that will pressure her into taking out a consolidation loan or something else at loan shark rates,

any advise?

Thats illegal, I got a call from this number. They must be bottom feeder debt collectors.

Had this lot on the phone today trying to get my neighbours daughters mobile number - chased them as i thought it was a bit dubious, after looking on here I'm glad i didn't give it..

this is an arm of capquest debt collectors,they use the name dvsl aswell, they ring with an excuse of they have a letter or a package for a said person and its been returned and they urgently need to get it to them.this is just an underhand  tactic they use to try to locate the person be it yourself or someone else.if you havent given them your number it is against the law for them to continually ring you, tell them to cease all phone calls immediately or you will be reporting them to the t.p.s. its happened to me just tell them to go whistle and if they continually ring REPORT them.

just got a call asking if I was related to some called Gemma (and my surname)  I was very short and sharp with them and said Good bye and hung up, however they did know my first name and surname?? I dont have any debts pther than mortgage.

Company called my parents claiming to have mail for me and asked them to confirm my home address although they were able to provide part of the address to them. Never heard of this company and have not received any correspondence from them either, nor have i personally received calls from them. Find it a bit strange!

got a call from this number said they were DVSL looking for information about someone living somwhere else on this estate. Phoned Police on 101 reported it. Don't tell them anything Police say it is suspicious. They can't act as DVSL haven't done anything wrong to their knowledge....but advise not giving any information about anything.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me yesterday, asking for details of a neighbour whether she still lived there etc. as they had a very important letter to send to her, but wanted to check that she still lived there before sending it.  I played ignorant and gave no information.  Strangest part of it tho, they called my mobile?!

these are debt collectors looking for a particular person but contacting us for the information they need on that person. if you have the same surname as someone (relative) they will try and get details about them by saying they have an urgent message for them or a delivery for them. also they are calling people who live next door (near) and asking for info about them. they are targeting us because our numbers are in the phone book. IF YOU GET A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER (DVSL) JUST HANG UP!!!!

Called my husband's mobile two days in a row. He didn't answer as he never answers unknown numbers. just as well. Bunch of [***] leave us alone you won't get anywhere with us!
