Report a phone call from 01252576376 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Ian JThis number has called my home phone around 10 times in the last week. The pattern is similar to others on this page "Call this number - quote reference xxxxxxxx" etc. These muppets last called this morning at 08:00 first days holiday for me for 7 months and they decide to call at this anti-social time! Surely there is enough evidence on here to serve some form of injunction on these people. I don't owe any money to anybody except my Mother, who I'm pretty sure hasn't turned me in to the Bail-Bond man!
- Caller: Telogram ( I think)
- Another wary customergot a call at 0840 this morning. The girl knew our name and address and was enquiring about a neighbour who no longer lives on the road because they were trying to get a telegram to that person. Gave them no info, but wondered afterwards how they knew my name. Called 1471 to get this number which had not been with-held, so wasn't concerned, but when we discussed with a friend, she told us about this website. Have since phoned the number back, and 'Louise' says that she cannot find a tape of the original call. She wanted to know if the original caller had an accent and said that they have 2 offices, one in South Africa and one in Glasgow. (However the 01252 code is Aldershot). Must admit it sounds a bit 'dodgy' now.
- Mr Bjust received a call from a woman with a chinese sounding accent, asking if i new my neighbour two doors away by quoting his house number, i replied that i did not, and then she named him by his first and surname asking if i new him, to which i replied i did not. she then continued to try to perswade me to pass on a message, again i replied that i would not be doing this, when i asked who this was and what did it concern she got abrupt and put down the phone, sounded realy dodgy, just aswell i realy dont know my neighbour or i might have said i do,
- Mr SI had a call today from this company asking for details of a neighbour, I can't say I have even seen her before, and certainly don't know her or know her name. The caller had a South African accent, and asked me to run a message over and ask her to call the 01252 number with a reference number. Googled the phone number and found this forum. The tone of the call was very strange all the way through. I imagine they will be calling back at some time, I will just put the phone down.
- AnonymousI had a missed call from the 0125276376 number and before ringing them back I just plugged the above number into google and found this forum. So, glad i didn't return the call....will avoid answering the phone should they call back in future. Its people like these that should be locked up!!!!
- LBHad a call last night from a woman on this number asking for my old neighbour who moved out about a year ago. Wouldnt surprise me if they were debt collectors but dont know why they have my number. They were asking if my old neighbour still lived in the area and if i had any forwarding address or number and whether his family live locally or not. I was careful not to disclose any info (not that i have any contact details for the neighbour).
- Caller: Telegrams Office
- DaveMy neighbour came in to say she had a call from the Telegram office asking if I lived next door? Asked her to give me this number to call as they had an urgent telegram for me. NOBODY sends telegrams any more so didn't call them. Googled the number and came up with this website. UNDERHANDED at the very least.
- With heldMy neighbour knocked and told me shed taken a call from Telogram office, and they were asking questions about me etc.. Luckily she didnt give out any information (could possibly be because Ive never spoken to this neighbour before) She is ex directory so not sure how they got her number.
I do owe some money to a catalogue but surely harrassing neighbours on the phone is illegal ?- Caller: Telogram
- Debt CollectorsThese are definitely DEBT COLLECTORS. They have now called my phone twice asking for the previous tenant who moved out over a year ago. I told them this information the first time, and they called back a week later saying they were looking for a neighbour of mine with the same name as the previous tenant??? They claim to have an urgent telegram or letter.
I know the previous tenant had bad debt as a week after i moved in i had a debt collector knocking at my door, and i also had lots of letters from bailiffs and the like, so had to contact each one explaining that the previous tenant no longer lives here. Someone obviously didn't believe me!- Caller: Telogram
- With heldIm presuming that this practise is illegal?
They have rung here twice today and my 12 yr old son took the call both times. They said they had a parcel for me and did i live here, he said no (hes been told never to give out personal info over the phone) they called back again and asked if my landlord lived here !! and could they speak to him.
Im sure this cant be done legitimately... can it, anyone know? Surely its harrassment?- Caller: Telogram
- With heldIve just called consumer direct who advised me to call the national debt helpline, apparantly they can do something (or advise what to do) about these types of calls.
It is an illegal practise and they are passing my details onto Trading standards.- Caller: telogram
- with held:) Just been looking at their forums, some brill advice to be had, thanks
- Caller: Telogram
- IvorGot a call from 01252576376 early in morning about a package they wanted to deliver to neighhbour they could not contact. Full of community spirit I went to my neighbours house and knocked. Found out the named person had moved on and then called the contact number back to let them know the package could not be delivered.
Waking up a little more I started to wonder about the lengths they were going to to deliver this package. Not a level of customer care I normally meet with in this country!
So a quick google and what do I find but this thread. At least it confirms I was scammed. Now how to I guard my good instincts early in morning and just start checking before thinking of helping?- Caller: telogram
- BuckyObviously all your reports have done nothing as these are still calling. I've had two calls from these in as many days. Shame those in authority are not doing anything to stop these. You should all keep reporting them though.
This company is definitely breaking the law. And they are spammers. Doesn't matter if they are a registered company, they can still be scammers.
Somethings not right though if so many people are reporting them and nothing is being done.
I would also suggest if you do answer the phone, tell them they are breaking the law, tell them you are recording the call, tell them you will report them to the police/trading standards and also tell them if they call you again you will take legal action.
If they really were a debt collection agency then they have to write to you first, they cannot just ring you out of the blue.
If they are a mail company then they certainly wouldn't go to all that effort to track down someone (i.e. Phoning neighbours) they would just return the package/telegram.
Don't fall for it and certainly don't give out any information to them.
The best way is to either don't pick up the phone if you have caller display or pick it up and put it straight back down.
If you have to speak to them then let them know you won't stand for the phone calls and state what I typed above. - Makkigot call from same number for me wife telling me that they have a parcel for her but they got wrong address so can i confirm her date of birth and were intersted in some personal details. I found it suspecious and told them that i can collect parcel in person so tell me address but then they refused it.
I guess it is a scam - Davejust had this same call this morning
sounds very dodgy
im rather woriied about this - MargaretThis company called me to ask about a neighbour of mine who lives 2 doors away. They didn't say who they were or what they wanted and I suspected that debt collection might be their game so told them nothing. If they call back I'll tell them to get lost.
- With heldAs stated, this method of trying to track people was reported by me to the OFT, Ive had a call back from them stating they want more details so they can investigate it further. :)
- Margaret McKinnonMy partner received a call 16/01/09, early morning and was told she had a message from a relative. She was quite confused as the relative talks to her regularly by e-mail so why send a telegram she thought? Without giving any information she hung up the phone. I later called the no and was answered by an automated message saying that I would need to provide my ref no...this no I did not have so hung up!! I then decided to do a google search on it and that's why I'm typing this message!
- Caller: The telegram agency
- With heldDO NOT give out any information to these people, this method of tracking people is completely illegal.
Write down the number they call from, the date time etc etc and get in touch with Trading Standards.
