- R morgan| 3 repliesI recieved a text on my phone stating my name and to "urgently contact Lucy palmer" and to quote a code number. when I phoned them they wanted me to state my address to provide them with an identity. I did not do this for obvious reasons- has anyone recieved a similar text- and what was the result?
- RioYes, R morgan, I've just recieved the same txt msg right now with the same urgent and lucy palmer. I think the best thing to do is follow the phone number's owner and find what's going on.
P.S. "the txt msg came from NO ID NUMBER. just -" - annonimousmy daughter just got a text from this number asking me to call them

- John,David must be on holiday, I got Lucy Palmer, I took up a free offer with the Royal Mint, which has turned out to be some sort of pyramid sale, got fed up with receiving coins I had not asked for, the final straw was they sent a magnifying glass with an invoice for nearly £20, and a fifty pence piece for £29. This is the Royal Mint for Gods sake, wht should I have to spend my time and money returning unwanted items

- Steve NoonanI have informed my M.P. Fiona Mctaggart, the local labour councillor Mrs Christine Small for Kiderminster ward, the citizens advice bureaux and 02 direct about this account. I currently have a 02 account on an open contract and have no issues with them or their services. Under the data protection act and the European Court of Human Rights do not attempt to trespass at the address concerned as I no longer live there and have not done so for six months.
Should David Shaw attempt to presurise my parents in any way then the BBC and the local press will be informed in due course as I have a first name association with reporters at both mediums. - JennyI've just recieved a text from this number, asking me to call Lucy Palmer URGENTLY, after unsuccesfully phoning them (the line would ring once and then die) I stuck the number in google and hey presto, here I am... I've called the firm directly since then and spoken to a very rude young man that wanted me to confirm my details, I told him I would do no such thing as I'm sure he was aware that fraud was quite rife in this day and age and it would be rather stupid for me to give my details to a complete stranger... I quoted the reference number and asked him to tell me what it was confirming, he refused again asking me to confirm who I am, so I said I could confirm I was the person that they sent the text to....he didn't budge... He said he'll send me a letter, so I'm awaiting that.
Looking through this list, I do have a small dispute with Bennetts after I sold my bike and cancelled my insurance and found that I was still paying almost the whole years insurance premium... But I've not had no demanding letters off of them, so I can't understand whats going on...- Caller: C.A.R.S

it is clear thanks to all the comments that these are not normal people. if you get the call just ignore it.
sounds to be like they are chasing people for money, there is a chance tht they are rouge agency, they might not be colelcting for a company, they just have acces to data adn are using it.- Caller: hill
- ThomasGot a "Lucy Palmer" text message today too, the only common ground I can find with other posters is a Tiscali account canceled with a lot of trouble two years ago.
It seems to show that the same companies are always the starting point of the scams, or at least their databases are. Stay away from Tiscali might be a good advice. Maybe "Lucy Palmer" works in one of those companies ? - Racheli got a text this morning from "-" asking me to urgently call Lucy Palmer quoting a reference number. my immediate reaction was "this is a scam" so, googled the number "01256306796", and was glad to read through this thread that is is indeed a scam.
i cancelled tiscali a couple of months ago, sent them a letter saying that i am cancelling, and cancelled the direct debit with my bank, because i knew that they (tiscali) aren't good at cancellations. i keep getting automated phonecalls from tiscali now, which i refuse to answer, as i owe them nothing.
Don't take crap from these people!! And if they are threatening/abusive on the phone, just hang up, or threaten to call the police on grounds of harrassment! - RajUrgent my [***]. If they really needed to speak to me, then they would have PHONED me, not sent a text. And if it really was that urgent, then why didn't they keep trying to phone?
It's Tiscali alright. Got exactly the same issue as Rachel above. I cancelled DD as I knew they would continue to take payments after cancelling the service. Had a suspicious letter in the post as well a couple of weeks ago. Googled the address and saw it was from a debt collection agency in Scotland, so returned it without opening it. - RajI believe this is the contact details for the company. Hiding behind a PO Box address.

admin@carsuk.org - KerryI too have just received a text from "Lucy Palmer" over my Tiscali account that I no longer have due to there incompetence and taking double payments then refusing to acknowledge this etc etc etc. They refused to tell me what the so called "URGENCY" was relating to until I confirmed who I was which i refused to do. In the end told them that the matter was in the hands of my solicitor who would be contacting them in due course, wish I had found this site first and would have prepared somehting better to say them.

- SpadgeGot a text from a Lucy Palmer on the 01256306796 number. I called it back but was cut off after the second ring ... obviously not that important even though they said it was URGENT! I sent a text message to that number instead suggesting they ring me if they are that desperate to talk to me so we'll see what happens!
- Caller: none shown
- RajThe amazing thing is that Tiscali owe ME money. Not the other way round. I have always paid any outstanding bills accordingly. You just can't get anywhere with them. And at 10p per minute on the phone, I'm not phoning them.
- KatrinaRec'd a text this morning from this number on my work mobile. No idea who it is and I won't be ringing back. Having looked at all the other messages on this web page I am assuming my details have been passed to these by Fitness First who I am in dispute with at present over my membership cancellation. I gave Fitness First the mandatory 1 months notice in writing to cancel. I handed the letter to them on 30th April at the Runcorn gym who then did not pass the letter on to their head office until 6th May. Fitness First are now saying that the one months notice only starts on the first day of the month following the month in which they receive the letter, therefore I owe them a further payment of £30.50 for the month of June. What a con. This is not the first time I have had problems with Fitness First but it is definitely the last. DO NOT USE FITNESS FIRST GYMS is the only advice I can give.

- Andy| 1 replyI got a text from Lucy Palmer, who I will not be contacting. I do know what it is about though as I also received a letter demanding £59.95, which is over a dispute I am currently having with Fitness First over my membership cancellation. I asked 5 times for Fitness First to cancel my membership, to which I got 3 different responses, 3 of those times they said I HAD to speak to a specific person first, but they were always unavailable whenever I requested a cancellation. My membership fee was actually £35.95 per month, so it looks like C.A.R.S. have added an extra £20.00. I have since sent a letter to Fitness First demanding that they take this to court if they wish to pursue this further.
There is more to this story, but to sum it up; This is twice this sort of thing has happened to me (Cannons and Fitness First) so I recommend to anyone, to keep clear of the big gym companies. They will not make it easy for you to leave and will try and take more than their fair share of your hard-earned money.- Caller: C.A.R.S
- Mr CI got a Lucy Palmer text from CARS today too, also in respect of a Love Film account over an account which I had problems with. I have in fact already had confirmation from Love Film a week ago that there had been a misunderstanding and a crossover between emails, and they offered to refund me and give me another free trial to make up for the months my account had problems, which I was really happy with. The lady at CARS was fairly pleasant and asked me to send a copy of the email to them so she could check it out with Love Film, so I assume it will be sorted fairly quickly.
