got a text from 01256 306196 asking me to call Mr Robert Parker urgently. Glad I googled it first, I cancelled my Fitness First membership in March 09 at the end of my annual subscription, so fully entitled to do so.  I have had one call from them since then asking to contact them and that was it until this text message.

Needless to say, I havent, and wont be phoning Mr Parker, especially after reading the above.  Thanks everyone!

I have also been in contact with C.A.R.S and have found out there are not allowed to talk to you unless you confirm your details. this is for you own protection and not theres.

I spoke to a young girl Shanie who was very understanding and came to an agreement that suited us both. she also got in contact with their client to send over break downs.

I have also been told that their clients fail to conact them when thing have been paid to them even though the account has been passed across! If you just explain to them, then they are normaly okay if you have proof!

I advised to speak to shanie if you ever have to call them.

I've been receiving text and calls from this number, called them back this morning quoting the reference number.  They wanted my address details which i wouldn't give obvioulsy!  The guy i spoke to was rather rude and told me he couldn't give me any details about the company.  After googling and coming across this site i belive it's to do with bennets.  They renewed my insurance even though i had called them to cancel considering i'd sold my bike.
The best thing to do is ignore these messages, have a think who you may owe money to and call them direct.
I must say though, i will not be calling bennets.  After calling them in november to let them know i would be selling my motorbike and that after june I didn't want my insurance renewed, they still renewed it, and are now trying to charge me £50 for admin charges on cancelling the policy.  How do you cancel something you didn't ask for? lol!
Anyway, ignore the messages, block the number if you can.  If you owe anyone anything call them direct.

I just received one of these today and was asked to “..contact Lucy Palmer URGENTLY on 01256306796 Quoting Ref No 257XXX3”. When I phoned them a man blurted something that I didn´t understand and said what´s your reference no. So, I asked who is this please. He said CARS, what´s your reference no.? I told him that and he started [in a clear voice this time] giving me information that I was supposed to reply to which I didn´t as I have no idea who they are. I said I´m sorry I can´t reply unless I know what this is about. And he said -"It´s for your own personal security" and started with the information again. I told him that unless he can give me the reason why I was asked to call or let me talk to someone that can, we would be stuck. And he started up with the "your personal security" again and told me to google it. I told him back that would give me a couple of millj. outcomes and then I said goodbye.

    P.s.
This site is what I found when I later tried google-ing CARS in Basingstoke.

    Regards,
    Maria

Ok firstly Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions work on behalf of a number of clients, a few examples are: Elephant insurance, Lovefilm, Vanquis bank, Fitness First and Budget insurance. These are not all the companies so you may be contacted on behalf of another company.
The reason CARS are contacting you is because the companies don't bother doing the debt collecting themselves.
By law companies have to get you to confirm the data protection act before talking about any personal matters. The employees of CARS are not allowed to say they are a debt recovery agency or that they are contacting you with regards to a financial matter as it is against tha law and can also cause embarrasement to some people if this info is diclosed to the wrong person, e.g your landlord.
Many of the workers there are nice to talk to and do listen to complaints as long as the correct procedure has been followed when for example cancelling a service.
CARS also try to contact the client but they can take a long time to get back to them, which is frustrating to you and to CARS who don't want top waste their time with a file that doesn't need chasing.
No black mark will be put on your creditfile by CARS and many clients don't do that either. Tje insrance companies will not take you to court via CARS so ignore the court action letter if you wish because it wont happen. Field agents only occur with vanquis accounts and that is only a selected group called vanq01. If you think you are one of those call CARS and ask if it's a vanq01 account.
To pre warn any one who is planning on paying there is now a 50p charge for the card transaction, any card that is. (you may be able to reduce it to 40p)
The 01256 306798 is the same number as 0870 050 2190 and 0844 880 0880. Courtlink has a different No but it is the same people, they will deny it but it is.
(avid Shaw and Nathen O'rielly are both made up names)
Anyway hope ppl read this and you find its contents helpful.

Just got same msg but from Lucy Palmer, how rude and unproffessional  to text asking for me to phone them back- without saying what it is regard to. At a guess i would say its in relation to Tiscali- dont ever use them .........they give me different answers every time.!

I wont be responsing to their text, they can ring or write to me if they want to speak to me.

Just received a text asking me to phone Lucy Palmer, As they wouldn't tell me what company it was with then I was unable to give them address details due to having a Tiscali account at my GF's house but most accounts I have are at my own house.

She told me to just wait for a letter which should arrive in the next few days.

If it is tiscali then due to my account being in dispute with them - I sent them a official letter telling them I disputed the charges & i was told ovber the phone that my account was on hold! - It is my understanding that if a account is in dispute that the details shouldn't be passed on. Is this correct??

I have the same text message, it's asking me to contact a Lucy Palmer URGENTLY on 01256 306796 quoting a ref no. I don't intend to reply to them but ALL texts or phone calls made to me are saved and I intend to get legal advice as this is classed as harassment.

If you have had numerous text messages / phone calls from these people then you can file an harassment claim against them making sure they can not contact you as much as they have.

If the above URGENT message is from a debt agency regarding Tiscali, let me tell you what Tiscali did to me.

I took out the phone and broadband package with Tiscali and I was with them for the 12 months of my contract, I had nothing but problems with the broadband and my phone line so after my contract was up I switched my phone line back to BT. When the switch over happened I lost my broadband connection, which was still with Tiscali, and please keep in mind that I am paying Tiscali while this was going on.

I asked Tiscali why my broadband wasn't working and I got the reply “since you have switched phone lines then ALL your services with us have been cancelled” I asked them how I would go about getting my MAC code, and they said they will have to switch on my broadband which will take 7 working days, then I can request a MAC code to go with another ISP, which I did and I also asked if this was taking out a new contract with them and they told me NO this will run with my existing contract.

After 7 working days my broadband was back on and I switched to another ISP thinking nothing more of what had happened. I then received an email from Tiscali saying that my latest bill was ready. I called them and they told me that it was just an automated email and I had no serviced with Tiscali at all.

A month later I couldn't make any phone calls so I contact BT and ask them why, they told me that Tiscali still had rental of my line so ALL my phone calls were going through them. I was furious considering when I moved back to BT all my calls were with BT then they hijack my line and expect me to pay for Tiscali for my calls.

Basically all I am saying is beware to Tiscali they are NOT an professional company they WILL rip you off and they WILL think nothing of using a corrupt debt collection agency to recover a debt that YOU don't even owe.

I hope this information helps someone out there :)

I have had a text yesterday asking me to contact Lucy Palmer URGENTLY, quoting a reference number. When I rang "Lucy Palmer" was in a meeting, I doubt that she even exists. When I ask them what it was regarding they said they needed to confirm my address first. I refused. I'm not giving out my address to someone I don't know. Anyway, the guy refused to tell me what it was all about until I did, other than Tiscali had passed on my details to them. Again I said I wasn't giving my address so apparently they are going to send me a letter.
I haven't been a Tiscali customer for several months now, cancelled due to a shocking service and even worse customer care. And now I know why!

I have received a similar message "could mr xxxxxx please contact lucy palmer URGENTLY on 01256306798 quoting ref no xxxxx". in times of phishing and reading previous comments on here I am not going to call the number. the only context I could think of would be my cancelation of a FITNESS FIRST MEMBERSHIP and my subsequent cancelation of the direct debit. I had hand-delivered my cancelation letter to FITNESS FIRST COVENT GARDEN. When I double checked if their systems were updated, the manager told me that he was not able to stop the direct debit on time, however, he advised me to cancel the direct debit and that he would deal with the process. I assume that the process was mismanaged at the FITNESS FIRST BRANCH and that LUCY PALMER is some form of windy debt collecting office with strange methods. Any ombudsman dealing with these things in the UK or shall I take a lawyer straight away I wonder.

    RE: Fitness First Member
When you cancel you Fitness first contract you ahve to send in recorded delivery to their head office. If you dont do this 30day before you want your contract to end they can the charge you the whole contract and a £25 admin charge.

Its all in the terms and conditions of your contract.

Trust me i got made to £350 this way and the local branch will not deal with the account only the head office!

    Hope this helps.

I got the same text, although saying to contact Robert Parker urgently. It's definately to do with Fitness First, because I cancelled my membership and they keep trying to charge me for subsequent months.
