My advice:

1. Do not deal with these CARS people. Do not respond to them at all by any means. Any letters you get from them (I got some from an address in Scotland, I Googled the postcode on back of letter to see who it was from), return the letter to sender. And keep returning subsequent letters unopened until they get the message. If they send letter again requiring a signature - don't sign, have it sent back.

2. Sort out your issue with the company itself.
- Contact them by letter (emails count for nothing and phone calls can take all day)
- If you owe them money, just pay it off.
- If they are after some "admin fee" tell them where they can stick it (politely and/or with humour).
- If you are owed money, make threats about taking it further (not physical threats or juvenile threats, be sensible, use names of organisations that you will go to, such as Trading Standards, Ofsted or whoever).

i have been txt by this number but it now says, contact Mr Robert Parker, i am not a member of any fitness group other than my local gym ??

BY THE WAY TO PPL WHO THINK THEY CAN CLASS THIS AS HARRASEMENT FROM THE COMPANY- YOU CANT! HARRASEMENT IS IF YOU ARE CONTACTED MORE THAN 3 TIMES IN 1 DAY AND THEY SPEAK TO YOU EACH TIME.
IF YOU DEAL WITH THE OTHER COMPANY DIRECT THEN THEY DONT ALWAYS PASS ON THE INFOTO C.A.R.S SO THEY MAY STILL CONTACT YOU.
PEOPLE WHO WERE WITH FITNESS FIRST NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEY AGREED TO AND STOP BITCHING ABOUT UNFAIR TREATMENT! YOU HAVE TO PAY A MONTHS NOTICE AND WRITE A LETTER OF CANCELLATION, I.E GIVE IN THE LETTER THIS MONTH AND THEN HAVE TO PAY NEXT MONTH- YOU CANT JUST CANCEL THROUGH THE BANK.
I SYMPATHISE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE GENUINE DISPUTES BUT TO THE REST OF YOU WHO CANT BE BOTHERD TO PAY ATTENTION TO T&C'S AND WHAT THE LAW STATES I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO LISTEN TO YOUR MOANING!!

Got a text Asking to ring Lucy Palmer URGENTLY quoting a Ref. Judging by other comments it might be a tiscali thing - cancelled a contract with them about 5 months ago.

If it was urgent, would they not ring??

recieved a letter from C.A.R.S (fittness first debt collecters) a$$holes charged me £268.75 for having insuficient fund to meet required payments through (switch) these morons have still tried and taken money from my acount after payment has been fully pid off, a swich cant be canceld and only terminated by deleing the card i own, wereas a direct debt i could cancell when ever.

Although Fitness first have canceled my charge as a goodwill gesture (next best thing to admitting their mistake) CARS are still calling and want me to fax them a copy of the letter. I refused telling them to go back to FF and find out themselves. I'll let them chase their tales and give them a copy if they ever turn up.

I have got the same text this morning asking me to ring 01256 306798 and speaking to a lucy palmer, i'm not doing it. I know its because of a fitness first membership but i dont see why i should write a letter cancelling it after i have done the tweleve month contract when 2 people i know cancelled theirs before tweleve months was even up and nothing as happened to them

i got a unknown/withheld text from them saing can you call the number, for me i rang them as usual they asked my name address i refused then they got snotty with me so i hung up

this company is after 50 pounds from me that i dont owe! lol makes you laugh because you ring the company called cars that want the 50 squid and ask them what for and they say i owe a insurance company so i ring the insurance company and i dont owe any money so they aint getting there coin from me! i might even send them a letter asking them for some money for admin charges for sending out letters and making fone calls and tell them if the dont pay up within 72 hours i will be getting my legal team involved lol

The person David Shaw is not a real person! they use this name for you to call. They dont only just deal with love film they have all diffrent clients. Also they never legal action they say this for you to get scared and pay.

i just recieved a txt from a hidden ID asking me contact Lucy Palmer URGENTLY, quoting a referance number,...  however the number i was asked to call is 01256306798,.. so i´m guessing about 2 desks over in the same office...

i ID checked the number and thiese are the details that came up

if it´s that URGENT, call me yourselves!!

This is regarding a letter rather than a phone call.

I recieved a letter with the return address of PO BOX 8743 Bellshill ML4 3WU.
As you are aware, this is the address of McKenzie Hall Debt collectors.
I purely opened it out of curiousity rather than sending yet another one back.

Much to my surprise, the letter inside was from C.A.R.S PO BOX 6520 Basingstoke Hants RG21 4UY.

Strange eh?

Had a text to call Lucy Palmer - went with it as they confirmed my name before I gave them any details & they can get the 1st line of my address and postcode quite readilly.  Turns out that C.A.R.S are also collecting for Dial Direct or BISL so it is legit.

I had a text message from  asking me to call them 'URGENTLY' (life or death i guess) from Lucy Palmer at that same number. Fitness First may think I owe them money. Has anyone else got an account with Fitness First?

Same thing for me... Lucy Palmer needing me to phone her urgently. Whatever. Not sure what I must have done to warrant this, am normally bullet proof with direct debits and contracts. Still, if I was needed urgently then surely they'd have phoned my direct?!

Hi got a txt just now and thought i'd google the number, the txt is from Robert Parker with an urgent message to call but i came here first.  I don't have any account with anyone so i won't be calling them back. The number they used this time is 01256 306797.

I've had a text this morning also from Lucy Palmer, I didnt call back and thought id google it first as aware of such like scams. I wont be calling her. thank you for your comments.

Thanks for the comments. I was with Fitness First and I cancelled my account. They're trying to claim that it was a 12 month contract (already told them I wasn't aware of this) and are chasing for payment. Just ignore them people, if it goes to court tell them you cancelled the account and the direct debit and you didn't go back in. FF won't be able to prove you did and the court won't honour any 12 month contract, especially if you state you was not aware of it. I had the same with BT once, it went to court and got threw out.

Same as the above comments concerning txt messages, they also been ringing wife. Only one I owe is a cancelled fitness first account, they also ring using a 020 number calling themselves CCS collect.
