Why does this number keep calling me?!! I live in Scotland and have checked the area code and it aint anywhere near me!!  When i call it back, no1 answers

Ive had these all day!! I'm a Paramedic on call for the Floods in yorkshire and they are blovking my line!! Just rang BT and the have told me how to stop them .. ring this number and input you're number - 08704443969!  fingers crossed

just got called from that number.  called it back no response.  surely someone must know who is doing this?

it is a guy who works for charities getting donations. he phoned me about Port Lympe.

A charity worker who has no name! Sounds suspicious to me.  Also, 40 North Road is the address of the YMCA, and they have a different telephone number.  I will do some searching locally.

I have had a call today from this number.  A man asked me to identify myself by verifying my date of birth. I refused and put the phone down. Funny thing is, I got a call from that other number that has been mentioned here - 01273 675927 - a few nights ago.  When I tried to ring it back I got nowhere.  Sounds unpleasant to me. I am ex-directory and on TPS. Soneone must know who it is.

Just had a call from this number at 15:54 Wednesday 12 th March.  Hung up as soon as I answered.

Its a call center that is attached to the Daily and sunday telegraph, and they are trying to sell quaterly subscriptions to the newspaper.

I got a call from this number today 12:45pm, luckily I was out, not a clue who was ringing, no answer when I returned their call, maybe it's a company selling something, but usually they withholf their number. Anyone got any idea's, as my phone number is relatively brand new, only active from Dec 2007.

I was phoned earlier today by the RSPCA and assumed it was legit cos I do give to them every month.  They knew my name and address without asking so it seemed fine to me. But this evening I have also had a missed call from 01273673100 and after reading the comments here I'm worried!  I tried to call it back and no answer either...

I had this number call me on 14th of this month (april) at about 3:20pm called it back rang for 1 minute and then they hung up have no idea what it is but its pointless to call it back!!

Justy ahda call from this number, missed it, on my newish mobile so very few people have my number. Tried ringing back but no-one answered, then I found this page so I shan't bother to ring again. Obviously some scam.

Hi, This number (01273 673100) has rang me twice now 2 nites in a row. It only rings once then hangs up and when I rang it back no-one answered. Does anyone know who this definately is?

I can sort this for you! Its a company called PTF (personal telephone fund raising) in brighton. They raise money for loads of different charities including the RSPCA over the phone. They contact people who already donate to a specific charity to ask to increase there donations or cold call people they think may like to support a charity. Its a really good company so dont worry. Theyy will never leave a message

I have answered the call once or twice to this no. It seems to be a telemarketign company calling from India routed through Brighton. It's a different thing they offer everytime they call. Even though I have told them several times I'M on TPS THEY JUST KEEP CALLING Sounds like a dodgy telescam company to me

Interesting collection of ideas here.I checked "ptf" on Google and came up with a company called Globalink who run charity fundraising operations, but they are in Horsham, nearly twenty miles from Brighton and have a completely different number. (I posted here on 4 February). The address nearly fits with what Vinny said on 17 January. But Mike (12 May) says they never leave messages. Why? Do they really want to speak to you, or are they up to something else?.  Why were they indulging in such irresponsible behaviour with Martin (22 January) ? And why was Jean S (4 February) asked for personal data? This stinks. There is a company named Personal Telephone Fundraising on the BT database at 44 North Road, Brighton, but they have a completely different telephone number. And what's the connection with those other telephone numbers mentioned here? And why do they put the phone down if you try to call them back?

Too many unanswered questions. If it is that firm in North Road, Brighton, they should be ashamed of themselves for bringing the charity sector into the same league as the scammers, debt collectors and other con artists on this site. But I think it's someone else, pretending to be fundraising. As always, the answer is sinple - give them no information.

I checked on that website that J Gutteridge quoted. You're right, it doesn't mention Brighton. And on one of their pages it says that they will always identify themselves. I think J Gutteridge is right. It's someone pretending to be a fundraiser.  Thanks, J.
