I've also just received a call from this number and when I tried to call back there was no answer.  Weird.

i already wrote e reply to this but its been deleted?!? the answer is its a company who raises money for a number of charities based in Brighton. They raise money for many charities inc RSPCA and many others. they contact people who already donate to a charity to ask you to oout up the contibution or contact people they have been told have an interest in the work of a particular charity. If you answer and ask them not to call back they wont. Solved

Hi Mike (19 May 08), can you post the name of the company so i can call them and tell them to sod off? I don't have a donation arrangement with any charity and they hang up every time i answer (which is a pain in the butt as I'm busy with a baby). i've tried ringing back and it just rings and rings. all sounds a bit suss to me but i'm so far being denied the opportunity to ask them to stop because they never speak when i answer.

I have had numerous calls from this number - two this afternoon. I hadn't answered it in the past because I thought it was a family member who has serious mental health problems. Obviously not! I shall continue to ignore it as, judging from everyone's comments, it seems to be extremely dodgy. This is a brilliant site. Thank you.

Just had 01273 673100 call and state they were calling on BEHALF of RSPCA.
We adopted a cat 2 years ago and this person knew the cats name. He wanted us to donate £2 a month. Wife fobbed him off. This is the only call we have had regarding the cat.

this number called this evening but no one answered nor responded when I returned the call

called me twice in the last week but didnt answer it as not recognised. Ring it back and it just rings until it cuts me off! Wish they would leave a message or buzz off!

I can clear this up straight away ptf stands for personel,  telephone ,fundraising completly legite they work in office in brighton nothing to do with india!!
They work on behalf of various charitys cold calling but mostly warm no commision involved!
 If you are on tps and you donate to the charity that calls there alowed to call you im afraid !
 They are a fantasic compeny that does realy good things there staff help charitys help communitys ,animals,old peope,children in need,povery ect !
If you are trying to look them up on internet type ptf ltd brighton!
  AND DONT PANICK!!YOUR ALL FAR TO PARANOID THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD THAT ARE TRYING TO HELP WORLD AND ITS THEM!!!!

I have just been called today by this number and a very posh sounding gentleman (who sounded like a Tv advert voiceover) spoke to me saying he was from the PTF phoning on behalf of Howletts and Port lympne. I visited there a few weeks ago and they must have taken my name and phone number (altho I cant remember how?) he thanked me for visiting the park and then gave me a 3 min monologue about the low land gorillas and how the charity needs my support, can I sign up over the phone to £10 per month.  I politly said no thanks as I prefer to donate if and when I do on a lump sum basis, but explained THAT I NEVER EVER GIVE CARD OR BANK DETAILS OVER THE PHONE OR AGREE TO GIVE MONEY ETC TO PEOPLE OR ORGANISATIONS THAT PHONE ME!! You can never verify who they REALLY are unless you have phoned them on a confirmed number. My bank gets the same lecture when they phone me on a withheld number telling me about a promo and then expect me to confirm who I am by giving them date of birth or answer security questions --when they have phoned me!! Da Da ! I have found their website PTF is a legit company, feel free to browse there website and put your mind at rest.. http://www.ptf.org/ I even phoned the manager on this number 01273 698697 (found on the contact us section of their website) and asked him if the number 01273 673100 which is the number under discussion belongs to them and he confirmed yes that is their number and not someone trying to scam.  If you keep getting called and they hang up or ask you fishy questions ring this number 01273 698697 and ask them to remove your number! Problem solved.

I am a Site Manager of a primary school in Widnes, Cheshire!! Why would anybody from Brighton ring this school? I've checked the whole of the school's contractors list and their subsidiaries and haven't found a match. I rang the number right back only to have it ring for 45 secs before I hung up. Has got to be a scam. Premium rate and charged even if not answered, maybe?

hello colin ,you need to check out ptf website they are legit occasionly they do call schools it just depends what charity they work on behalf of at time!honestly you guys need to atchaly look at messages b4 you start panicking ! lok at website colin ! http://www.ptf.org  put you mind at easy and the reson you can get through on number that calls you is its the middle of day there makeing calls trying to do good for world what are you doing??if they had incoming call they could never make any calls right??! think about it

Whilst I am sure this is a legitimate business!! I am fed up with receiving calls that go dead as soon as I pick the receiver up and when the number is called no-one answers(do they not have answermachines! at least you would know who was calling). How can they, as fundraisers, make any money and why the need to put the phone down as soon as it is answered? I have even tried the head office, just a few minutes ago, but they had never heard of the number!

Was called this evening at 18.00 hours. Caller said he was from RSPCA and asked me to accept a "Last Will and Testament" package. He had my name and correct address . He explained that the RSPCA are funded mainly by bequests and wondered if I might leave something for this chaity -which incidently I do support on a regular basis.I shall wait for the postman before passing further judgement!

keeps ringing here in solihull  now passing over to police as caller will not respond when i answer   very suspicious and down right a pain in the [***]

Could this be a premium rate scam, normal landline automatically diverts to premium rate number, giving the people who called you in the first place lots of money if they own the premium rate line?

Know of Organised gang's doing this on moblile's.

Just had call from this number. What a pain grrrr and WHY? doh!?

PS Would just add this call came to my ex-directory landline which I seldom give to a soul I have plenty of mobile phone numbers which I use online and re sales, business etc.  grrrr
