this number calls me numerous times a day and is a royal nusiance!!! No idea where they got my number as I never give it out to unofficial sources!!

Caller calimed to be doing a surbey on behalf of a government department. Eventually said they were calling from Ipsos Mori and the survey would take 20 minutes. I declined.

Had a call and asked for my wife by full Christian name not the shortened version. The caller was a female with a Scottish accent. Asked if they would like to leave a message which was declined.

I do not answer my phone,,,i used to just lift the hand set and say nothing,,,,now I let it ring and go in to ans phone,,,,look number up on internet ...them block them,,,,i can block calls by type and by number or just have a v.i.p list running,,but all calls are logged...

You could check that number as it does in fact come up as 'pet cemetery' in Derbyshire, on Google.

They called me today. an asian sounding woman. They were doing a supposed Mori poll for Kent County Council quality of services. They knew my name. I declined to assist them. Sorry sounds sinister to me. How do they get my name and number? What to do they do with the data they receive?

The number is, indeed the Ipsos/Mori office in Edinburgh.  They random dial to get a cross section of people.  Market Research is not covered by the TPS so there is no one to report the calls to.  If you do not want Market Research calls go to the company's website and use the Contact Us facility.  Tell them to remove your number from ALL their data bases for ALL their companies.  The ALL is important because different groups of researchers do different surveys and asking one lot to remove your name does not affect other groups.  I have done this with all the legitimate Market Research companies which have called me and it works.  It does not, however, stop the fake survey calls from overseas which are just a means of collecting personal information to sell on to other scammers.  UK Market Research companies eork on behalf of Government Departments and private companies to find out what people think of their products and services.

The number is an IPSOS Mori number, the firm is genuine.  I receive calls from them fairly often and find their staff charming and polite.  If you do not wish to help in their market research they will end the call at your request.

I am quite sure that they area a genuine firm.    That does not stop them being a nuisance.    

Rather than telling us how easy it will be to end the call from such charming and polite people how about telling us how to PREVENT them, since you have a breadth of knowledge.

Personally I love their calls but they do not ever elect to proceed with them.     I offer willingly to answer as many questions as they wish for a fee in advance of 10 guineas per question.    After all they make their money from my answers, so it seems only fair that I get payment too.

Received a call on a Sunday claiming to be conducting a survey on "How People Send Their Leisure Time"?

I am always suscpicious of these so-called surveys even from "respectable" marketing companies on the grounds that on providing them private or personal information they will simply sell it on to other less respectful companies. For example, if I told this lot I was interested in Aerobics and Swimming I would end up with even more telephone calls from those organizations trying to sell me gym membership or from Leisure Centres trying to induce me into a free month of pool use but only after first taking my banking details in respect of a monthly Direct Debit.

It is time to end such call but Which Magazine has been rather slow on this issue although they are doing something now. There is always a chance of some lobbying type MP with an office full of plain brown paper envelopes accusing the government or wrecking the economic recovery by introducing new legislation or any means by which such calls can be stopped.

It is no good saying you never gave them any personal information for their surveys because at the very least they have your telephone number for starters, and computers can match that up to names and postcode together with a plethora of other details to form a picture of ones gullibilities.

And Yes, we all trust the Data Protection Act do we not!

Simple answer to stopping calls from clowns such as these is to invest in a TrueCall Unit.  We became tired of nuisance callers long ago and bought one of these units, once set up to your chosen level of call blocking, unwanted callers are simply unable to get through.  We do keep a record of all nuisance callers that are displayed on our TrueCall web page and since 01/05/2013 we have logged 5xA4 pages of calls - some 100+ including 4 from these idiots.

I had a call from this number yesterday. After reading all the above it's clear that they lie about who they are to suit themselves. They told me they were Buckinghamshire County Council doing a survey for the under 35s. I told them that as I was over 100 years old that i couldn't help them.

Had a phone call this evening.  A young woman said she was doing a survey on what television we watched on ITV and BBC.  She asked if there was anyone aged 16-26 in the house.  Then what ethnicity I was.  After those two questions she said they only needed comments from 16-26 year olds.  End of conversation.  Strange or what !!!  Checked the number and it was from 01315614532.

I have received a call from this number the last 2 days (20/10/13 and 21/10/13) but the caller hangs up before I have a chance to answer, after about 5 rings.

Our Truecall unit shielded calls from this number, but they still attempt to get through.

This number started calling me 2 weeks ago which I missed the first call and googled the number. It sent me to this site so I have blocked them on my galaxy s3. They have been calling twice a day since but they can't get through and I just get a text to say they called but left no message. They have called 6 times today though. What a waste of time, get the hint. You will never get through to me

Unsolicited call received on Sunday morning - my phone picked out by a random dialler

Called a few moments ago, I have caller display so I don't bother to pick up, but seems to be getting this kind of call more and more. I did check the number online, and it appears to be company with a foreign name .

This number phoned my work mobile... on answering was treated to a high pitched tone a bit like the start of a fax machine tone, but unlike a fax tone it didn't change. Delightful. I hung up. Obviously can't be anyone  genuine
