This number called, got silent treatment, shortly after another number called which is identified on this site as a scam - not sure if they are linked

This number repeatedly calls me and often hangs up.  It is a big nuisance.  I hope it can be stopped

Had a call from 0141 2800 563. Ignored it. I rang the number and got an recorded message. About time OFCOM stopped this.

0141 280 0563 called just before 1800 last night. I did 1471 got their number and message saying it was from 'uk energy assessment company' - what ROT! they are just scammers! Ignore them!!!!

Like most people I have had silent and sales calls from the company that calls itself UK Energy Assessment Company. I have written to Ofcom and also to the Member of the Scottish Parliament Linda Fabiana in the hope that she can do something about this company which operates on her doorstep.
This might give you a laugh. They called again last friday, (30th November 2012), so I decided to play along in the hope that I could get more information about them but as it turned out it got better than that. During the call I realised that they had my old address; I moved over a year ago but took the number with me. So, I made an appointment with them to come out to my 'home' to look into getting solar panels today Monday, 3rd december.
A few minutes ago I got a call from the Sales Rep saying that he was in my street but couldn't find the house because my address looked to be a middle flat. 'That's the address', I said. He replied, 'but how can you put solar panels in a middle flat'? 'I have no idea how, you're the experts', I said. 'Didn't the sales team ask you questions about your address'? He asked. 'Yes, they did but I don't live there anymore'. 'What'? he shouted, 'You've wasted my time'. 'Well' I said, 'Now you know how I felt when you silent called me numerous times'? He replied, 'But that's not my fault, that's the fault of the call centre'. Well then', I said, 'Take it up with them'. 'Are you proud of yourself', he shouted. 'Actually, yes I am because maybe, but somehow I don't think it will happen, you and your company may just think twice before cold calling people. because if more people do what I have just done, imagine what chaos it would cause to your company'. I hung up.
Now, I knew he or the call centre would call me and sure enough five minutes later, they did. But, I was ready for them. When I answered I put the phone up against my laptop speakers and played this youtube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-yU5Ekv14U&feature=related

This Number calls every day 2-3 times some times there is no one there and others the person asks for a mr Wells or welch (not sure) I have told them on many accasions that no one of that name lives here and ask them politely to stop calling they either hang up or say nothing, when I phone the number (at my cost)
I am told to press no.1 and leave my name and number (by answer machine) and when I do I am informed tha
t there is no more room for my message, this  is VERY Annoying and I do not know what else to do.

They have assured me that as I am on TPS, they will not ring again.

We'll see, and if they do then I intend to take strong action.

the 01412800563 has just called me trying to sell the solar panels.  Told them the number was registered with TPS and got the tale that I hadn't done the 6 monthly reregistering with the TPS and therefore regisration had lapsed.  Told him he was talking rubbish, there was no need to reregister.  Then mentioned the £500,000 fine that was possible.  He said it didn't apply 'cause he hadn't called 3 times.  I am going to report them to OFCOM, can a few more people report them and see if we can get them fined for breaching TPS regs

If it sounds like a SCAM, it probably is. Haven't heard a peep from them since I hit the "Block Now" button on my new Call-Blocker :-))  Works a treat !!

We have a trueCall unit installed and has proved to be excellent for screening calls. First I would just like to mention that when the phone rings we check the caller ID display first and if we don't recognise the number then we don't answer it. A genuine caller will leave a message and we then ring back!
This number called yesterday, I did not answer it and no message was left. Through the Internet option that comes with trueCall I was able to see that it was a Glasgow number and through the link to this site was able to see that it was not a genuine caller. This number has now been placed in the 'Zap' list of numbers. On checking the telephone log this morning the caller called twice more yesterday. On those occasions the calls were rejected and our phone did not ring.
I thoroughly recommend this unit and it has eliminated the stream of marketing and nuisance calls we used to receive. We have set the unit to reject unavailable, withheld and international calls (the source of call centre calls). We have had the unit for more than two years and although it was little bit expensive it has proved to be worth it. I have just counted up the number of such calls rejected over the last 12 months and it totals 199 ! The figure for the previous year was 239. International  calls can get through if they announce themselves when challenged by trueCall and/or leave a message.

really fed up with these folk calling - we are registered wiht the TPS but doesnt seem to stop them calling and always at 'mealtimes'!! NOT HAPPY

As the company claim they are doing surveys, they can get away with the TPS thing as surveys are not covered under it.

Telling them to remove from their database is futile, but you can find out where they are based by pretending to be interested and then send a section

Details of this are here; http://www.mindmydata.co.uk/  (and many other places around the net if you wish to use your favourite search engine)  Further to what is in that link, it doesn't matter whether the company argues they're not direct marketers or not. If they are required to stop processing your data, they have no option under DPA

The Data Protection Act has strong and very sharp teeth, unlike what we appear to get from TPS and similar. The benefit of this for those of us fed up with these calls is that companies are scared witless of it.

Look for the relevant stuff on Section 11 DPA and send the companies a notice. They can be royally shafted through courts under the DPA, so consider it as your friend.

Called twice today. Very unprofessional - pointed out the first time I was not the person asked for and asked to be taken off their database and he put the phone down. Same guy called later on (Scottish guy, gruff voice) and I said he'd called me earlier and that I was on TPS. He put the phone down again. Very rude and obviously not a professional racket......

I am sick to death of getting calls from this number! They ask for  different  names.Had 3 calls in last few hours.Told the person they want  is not at this address,They then rang back an hour later asking for same person! again i said not at this address.Just had another call from same number  (01412800563) Asking for some other person!
Who are they??are they Market research or what?

Just had a call from this number but no-one spoke.  I could hear lots of people in the background, like a call centre.  Then the 'phone went dead.
