I got this same call so it seems that swinton are using bad practise!
yes it off putting when no 1 answers
as my mobile my only means of communicating it very off puting
however thanks to the internet i can now check who my missed calls are rather than having to pay for a phone call!!

This number is Swinton Collonade. I got a temporary O2 PAYG card and they have started calling me on it (within 12 hours of me activating the card). I have not called anyone or given my number out so O2 must give it out. What service! Thanks O2.  :-(

Buy yourself a call blocker, It has worked for loads of call for me..
You can even recored your own message so no one will ever get through unless they know the secret number, only the people you know will get through if you give them the secret number !
I do 1471 every day and 01422249611 phoned me but my phone never rang as a silly computer will not press the secret number :-)
I have no clue why this number called me as i have never used swinton or filled a online quote.

Called my mobile over two consecutive days yet did not talk.  After 15 seconds, just hung up.

I called number back and recorded message if you want to remove your number from list, call 01274 838272.

I called this number and another message said all reps were busy but if you want to remove your number, leave your name and number after the tone.  I did.

Now you done it.... you have phoned them up and give your phone number to them !  You will be phoned up everyday now !
Just like email spam,, never click on unregister as it is a fake just so they know the email address is active.. then you will get junk emails with virus in them...

I received a call from this number too! I am with Swinton for car insurance also.
when i answered they were trying to sell me accidental death cover!! They are part of the Swinton Group!

I never give out my real number on the web and I haven't used any comparison sites, but I did get a call from Swinton on my mobile regarding house insurance.  I don't know where they got the number from as I'm ex-directory. A few days later I started getting the silent calls every day from that 01422249611.  I'm writing to Swinton Insurance at Halifax which is the same dial code to see if it's them and I'm giving them a piece of my mind too.  I'll post again if I get a response or if the calls stop.

Guess what, i put my details in to get an insurance quote and i keep getting the calls, so annoying!!!

3 times within a short space of time a silent call which was a nuisance.

i was getting 3-4 silent calls a day so just went onto their website and clicked on contact us at the bottom of the page and filled in an online feedback complaint and politly request to have my details taken off the marketing list... these calls stopped after 3days

Been receiving called from this number and a couple of others with the same pefix for the last few weeks. Answered at least 3 calls (Swinton Insurance) and missed at least twice that number. I dont have any insurance with them, had car insurance with a company they bought out - I dont have now, and NEVER WILL HAVE AGAIN..

It appears this is an automated call from Swinton Insurance following an online search on a comparison site. Although I partially filled in the enquiry form, I canceled it half-way through, not wishing to pursue the enquiry & did not submit my details. It appears however that the partial details are captured and used for marketing purposes. There is something fundamentally wrong with this process to the point where I believe it to be a breach of my privacy.
Needless to say, I will continue to ignore the calls, and place my business with another company.

As promised I wrote to Swinton Insurance in Halifax and the calls have stopped! Hoorah!!!!! Must be them then, methinks :o)

Call is from Swinton, this one was trying to sell life insurance, the caller spoke so quickly that by the end of it she pretty much procesed everything until I told her to stop talking and send the details through the post, she said she had none to send so I said no thanks and I put the phone down. This is a very sneaky way of making you take it out without knowing.

keep getting calls from this number but when i answer no one speaks. not only ignorant but bloody annoying when you are continually disturbed at all hours of the day

yep, its swinton, they want to sell you personal accident, accidental death, and something else insurance for about 100 quid a year, i let the guy tell me all about it after about 10 missed calls, then got rid.

I've been getting these dead calls for a couple of weeks. If you call the number back it'll tell you the number to call to remove you phone number. For info it's 01274 838 272.I had to leave a message with my name and phone number (which they already have!) hopefully should no longer get calls. Will update if I have any further information.

Yeah, got a quote from Go Compare and received a call within 15 mins.

To be fair, it's usually one of the quoted companies rather than Go Compare, but still!!

Anyway, I saved more than £200 on my Churchill home insurance renewal. Swinton rule, and there's a local office too!

I have rung the 01274838272 number to stop calls for the moment.  It was after getting a quote from Swinton online.  Barclaycard have just been fined for this.  You can raise a complaint at ofcom - under silent calls.
