British Gas have insurance, they will sell your dept to a dept company to chase you for it, plus what they want to charge you on top.
Talk to British Gas and make payment to them direct.

These people have just started ringing me asking for a man which im not they ring at ridiculous  hours of the morniing which made me suspicious thinking that they might try nicking credit from my mobile i will not answer if the send a letter then i return not known at this address thats my advice to anyone getting these annoying  calls

They keep ringing me giving me a reference no which you dont have time to write down and also a phone no to ring back automated phone call

Other numbers these use 08448241151 can try to convince you to pay what you can not afford sometimes rude .

They call me everyday at the same time and ask me if I'm someone called Vicki (which I'm not). It's an automated voice thing so yeah its annoying.

Rang this morning asking for my late partner by name, using a recorded press 1 or 2 message, so I rang the same number back.

My partner passed away in June earlier this year and they suggested she had a telecoms debt. I explained I was the sole Executor would they explain the details of the debt, because it seemed to me it sounded like they were making a nuisance call. The refused to give more detail claiming it would be illegal under the Data Protection law and asked me to send them a copy of a Death Certificate. They tried to make a guess at my name, which I told them was wrong and tried to get me to tell them my name. I said they could whistle for the Certificate and that the would not get any personal details from me.

They then said they had written, but obviously their call had beaten the arrival of the letter, I said I would await with interest, for the letter to arrive.

My suggestion is they are just ringing people up in the hope that they will assume the debt is a genuine one and hope they pay up. I doubt you would see your money again. There is no telecom debt, my partner paid on time each month by DD for the past 8 years and I took on the account also paid by DD on time. They were not even able to name the telco of the supposed debt they were trying to claim for.

All very polite, business like and almost believable, were it not for the fact that we have never had any debts or unpaid bills. Here is their website http://www.wescot.co.uk/ - it all looks very legitimate, they even suggests they are regulated by the FCA. Checking with the FCA, it seems they were once temporarily authorised by the FCA, but are no longer - so should not have the FCA logo on their website.

BE VERY WARY OF THIS COMPANY.

They are leeches that work for many companies Npower is just one they clients Never Never give these people any details or NEVER NEVER confirm any details whatsoever over the phone. If you want to be polite just say send a letter to the details you have on your systemn then I can check you out.

I will respond in writing only once I receive your letter and I get it verified by Tradind Standards they will soon [***].
