- Ajay| 1 replyHad this call today too. Does anyone know how to block calls from this number?
- Caller: Bookeeping and Payroll Registration
- Snapey| 2 repliesThis company called me today. I am aware of lots of scammers doing similar things. These guys claim to be from BT, Personally I think not. As others say dont part with cash on a phone call unless you know and can verify who they are.
This is the most aggresive sales call I have received in my 3 years of business. I got the same "we will put you on the front page of google", "we are getting many search queries for your type of business", etc, etc.
In terms of money they wanted only £1 per day and ten minutes into the call they mentioned the £200 sign up fee :)
My advice is, If they ignore you when you say your not intersted keep them on the phone as long as possible. This guy beat the old record held by Yellow Pages, He recorded a record time of 27 minutes. I do kind of enjoy it in a way but I shouldnt have to. Best thing is I aim to close my business in about 6 months time to move abroad and only told him at the end of the call :)
I just wasted 27 minutes of his time while could be harrassing other people.- Caller: Customer Strret
- john grayI've been called three times by this number. The first time (as I'm a piano teacher and was in the middle of a lesson) I didn't answer it. Apparently, they had also tried my landline phone, which was answered by my wife. The woman asked for John and wouldn't leave a message. She phoned again just now and enquired if I could take on any more pupils. When I said no, she thanked me anyway and hung up. So, a slightly different experience from everyone else, it seems. I did think it unusual that someone with a number based in Lancaster should contact a piano teacher in South Manchester to enquire about lessons - we're not exactly close neighbours! There was no attempt to sell me anything. Very strange.
- Gil Taylorcold called , said he was from "customer street" asked if I could handle any more work - told him I'd received many calls from this number over the last few weeks an I'm not interested - in spite of that he kept pushing the hard sell - I hung up
- Caller: customer street
- willCustomer Street are a typically DUMB and irrating company. Their staff are trained to read from a script and keep you on the phone as long as possible. Even though I said "I am getting all the clients I need thanks, I'm not interested in this" the woman said over and over "ok well if you're happy with just getting a few clients and you dont want to appear on Google 6 times over and get lots more business then thats ok". She wouldnt shut up.
AND THEY HAVE THOSE STUPID ACCENTS THAT MAKE SALES CALL ALL THE MORE IRRITATING. - GarathJust had them on the phone and I beat you all. 45 minutes! I enjoyed every minute of it. Trying to get me pay £2 a day for a Google listing I was never going to buy so I just teased as I knew it was fraud. I could hear a guy in the background telling her what to say so every so often, after a very long sentence, I would say "sorry, I missed that, tell me again". She was stumped!
To get these calls stopped register with Telephone Preference service. It's the best thing I ever did and if you do get a call and, unlike me, your not prepared to have a laugh, tell them your registered with TPS and they'll soon hang up. - JimboMy wife got a call from this number asking how much she charged from piano lessons, as she is a piano teacher and asked quite a few other questions, (information gathering for later use), so she thought it was someone intrested, anyway after a few more questions she then said she is calling for a company that is OWNED by BT! and that they are providing a 2 page web design service for 250 pounds + anoter 30 per month to keep it running, the sales woman then put my wife onto the so called manager who said he could drop the price to 150 pounds. They kept going on about my wifes web site could not be found on the search engines, my wife asked how they found her number and they had to admit thet they did indeed find it using a search engine. http://www.musiceternity.com/ Ok it's under construction but hey got the basics up there.
My wife initially said no but then she thought mayby it might be ok and gave me a call to see what I thought. After thinking about it and not seeing value in their offer I fortunately picked up the phone when the woman called back. She again said their company is owned by BT and kept on the pressure by saying other people were waiting for the service and we would loose the domain name for the new site.
Asked the woman on the phone 3 times for their company number and she changed the subject each time. She just kept pushing the sale saying we would loose out.
I will be checking with BT to see if indeed this outfit was taken over by BT as she implied.
Now I'm begining to wonder if the details will be passed on to another like minded company!?
The call was initially a with held number but after my wife didn't answer this number came up 01524543400.- Caller: 01524543400
- jimboAs far as I know we were already registered with TPS as I did so some time ago, and this is the first sales call for ages but still got the call.
Have registered again just to make sure
Haha congrats on the record :_) - GarathRe above: I was seeing how long they would keep me on for. 45 minutes must be their cut off time. Don't waste your time calling BT, it's nothing to do with them. They're fraudsters who have a clever way of staying within the law but it's naughty what they do.
Anybody who does not introduce themselves at the start of a call is not from a company worth bothering with. Also, if you are registered with TPS, I can guarantee that BT would check the TPS register before saying hello to you in the street.
She didn't stay on the phone long after I told her I was a business studies teacher and advised the public how to avoid fraud. I hope they call me again but I doubt they will.
The best advice I can give is NEVER give bank details over the phone (as already mentioned in previous posts) and avoid using the word YES. - SueA girl rang from this company saying she lived in my area and wanted a new kitchen fitted, she then put the phone down on me. I then rang her back and got a recorded message saying 'BT company street', and to ring another number.
This is a scam.- Caller: BT company street
- jimboFurther to the call I confirmed that our number was already registered with TPS

- PLTHEY KEEP CALLING AND OFFERING WORKS AND WEB SERVICES: THEY WILL NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ASWER
- Dazzy BoyThis company rung me and asked if I was so & so plumbers, I told them that I was no longer trading, he then replied are you sure, you did some work for my nana and a pipe is leaking.
I told him I havent been a plumber for over a year and he must have the wrong company.
On checking the number i wondered why a number from over a hundred miles away would ring.
Obviously a scam, I can't believe he would make a story up about his Nana.
Avoid like the plague. - LloydI got a call from this company today offering to charge me nearly £300 to build my own webiste and then a further £59 a month to advertise on google. When I told her (sophie) that I could build my own website for very little and I could advertise myself for a small charge she became very pushy and insisted that I needed their help. I politely told her that I wasn't interested and eventually had to be firm. After that she became very rude and I said goodbye and hung up.
iI found the whole thing absolutely crazy and am pleased to find that i'm not the only one.
If anybody recieves a similar call from BT customer street I'd advise them to just hang up.- Caller: bt customer street
- NiallI have signed up with BT Customer street, been with them for a little over a month. I am a builder in dublin i was very sceptical at the time but considering the credit crunch we are experiencing i decided to get my business found on the internet (where people were apparently looking). I am number 1 on google for what i do and receive over 300 hits a month, very worthwhile. I have turned 11 quotations into work so far and i am very happy with the service for £3 per day. I would recommend giving them a chance to at least explain themselves as i have found it very benefical

- NemCustomer Street ARE now owned by BT. They were originally owned by a company called Iomart who also owned UFindus. They are also associated/trade under other names including Smile and MoreUK. Do an internet search for Iomart, UFindus, or Customer Street to see what sort of "repuation" they have - you'll find lots of VERY interesting reading!
Anyway, I run a driving school and have just had a call from a female who started by asking whether we taught people to drive or trained people to be driving instructors. I said we did the former. She said "Oh good, I'm, looking for someone who does Pass Plus or refresher driving courses". I confirmed that we did and asked what her requirements were. She then told me that she was calling from "The Online Driving Instructors Directory" and she had several customers desperately looking for someone to help them. I said I'd never heard of that directory. She said "It's part of BT Customer Street". Having had numerous "discussions" with Customer Street over the course of a few years, I knew very well what was coming. The call lived up to my expectations. The girl was in totally the wrong job, as tele-sales clearly isn't her forte. She was nervous and said some ridiculous things such as asking me for our website address, then commenting "Oh is that man in that car your husband?". I pointed out that we are a driving school and "that man" was a driving instructor as indeed were the four other men in cars adorned with L-plates featured on our website...I could go on outlining just how buttock-clenchingly embarrassingly inept she was but I won't, other than to comment that she spoke a load of ill-informed, erroneous nonsense about websites, internet search engines, how real people source products and services and the effectiveness of directory advertising.
Eventually I felt guilty for stringing her along and put her out of my misery by eventually telling her that I was aware of Customer Street, UFindus etc and had already had far more enforced contact with them than any human should have to endure and told her what I thought of them and their incessant cold-calls. She spluttered and tried to tell me that they were one of the leading directory sales companies in the country - I advised her about Customer Street's "reputation" and told her to go and look on the internet to see what people really thought about their products and sales tactics and put the phone down.
I know they'll be back as this was the third call I've had from them on 3 different numbers this week...words cannot express how much I loathe this persistent company and it's minions.- Caller: Customer Street
- JennyI actually found that they were very helpful and provided me with a good service. I found this site when looking up about the company I have sighed up with. bt customer street didn't seem to be a scam at all. I have actually renewed with them resently because of the custum I gained with them. they gave me what they called a 'proof package' this kind of told me when my clients for bussiness were calling me, And it worked. I've just got my husband to join as well.
