    BT Customer Street
I work for BT Customer Street and have done for the last 7 months .It really winds me up when i read crap like this with people slagging off the company saying we are a scam?. We do exactly what we promise to our customers and give them a web site which has more first page coverage than any other uk directorys. Its not our fault that many of these companys are a bunch of cowboys ,which no amount of advertising could build there business back. If they,d have shown quality in their work and commitment from the start, instead of slagging the very people who are trying to help them, the results im sure would have been much greater. If their workmanship and local reputation was as big as their mouths, they would,nt be in the mess that most of them are in. Then trying to blame people like us when they get no response! I have generated more independant first page sites ,which have enquiries within the first 5 days of going live, so just shows who the professionals out there really are!

Customer Street called last week & wasted 30 mins of mine & their time. they start off with 'can you do extra work/jobs in your area, lots of work i can put your way'(i think trying to catch you off-guard thinking it's a genuine enquiry) then quickly changes to 'our directories are the best online etc etc'.

quoted to me that over 800 people had searched for my type of work in my home town last month - i checked on google adwords later, no searches at all recorded for Jan 09 & less than 80 per month on average based on the previous year.

salesman's attitude changed from being friendly to quite the opposite when i said my line of work just isn't web based & i'd never agree to anything without doing more research. he ended up putting the phone down on me!

don't be fooled by the sales patter of 'we're owned by BT', they might have recently been bought out, but a quick search on CustomerStreet aka UFindUs/SmileLocal/MoreUK reveals the extent of the problem & their lack of service & professionalism. BT need to change the sales tactics pretty quickly to avoid a PR disaster for them.

2 more calls from them today while i've been out - what joy...

Got a call said they were BT Customerstreet I soon realised it was a sales pitch but it made sense. I was looking at spending some money and didn't want to renew with Yell and this was better alternative. I got more for my money and I even got my own website. Brilliant! Yes the sales person was a little pushy but when was the last time you went to a car showroom! The sales person helped me make the right decision and I'm very happy wih the service.

Their current scam is to contact counsellors who subscribe to ligitimate directories.  They purport to be a BT connected company.  One approach is to ask if you have capacity to take on any more clients and when you say yes they to into a long spiel about how many website hits they are getting from people looking for a counsellor in your area.

It's an advertising scam.  Don't be taken in.

how can it be a scam if you've never tried it? an advertising scam? just because they can track how many times a certain thing is searched for, they feed it back to you, and this makes it a scam? it's not promising actual calls. i'm please with my rapid website i have with them, i just dont see how you can call it a scam. i might not get a million calls but i get enough, so there info is correct

Had this number ring me. Don't normally pick up when i don't know the number. But they caught me of guard. This women calling from BT Customer Street. Couldn't get a word in edge ways. I asked from the beginning what are you selling and how much. She kept going on about getting me high on Google. She started to get angry when the listing she claimed to be theirs on Google didn't match my Google. Claimed i was lying at that point i said bye and put the phone down. Boy could she talk. 23 minutes. Dam sales people.

Tel no 01524 5434090 - claiming to be BT telecommunications or something. Saying do I want students sent to me via there advertising,as I am a private teacher. They didn't give me the sales pitch as before they could I told them I wasn't interested. As soon as I said that the polite woman slammed the phone down. They lifted my details from another site, which I have agreed for my deatils to go on, which shows how desperate they are to get business

Had a call from this place - very interesting to listen to someone who comes from near Morecombe - he mentioned Eric Morcombes statue - thought after reading a lot of these comments on this site this evening that he was trying to be the next comedian from that area as he told me his name was Niall - isn't it strange that the only positive comment so far that I have read on the first 2 pages is from a 'builder called Niall' from Dublin who says he is on page one on google (can't seem to find him anywhere) - HE IS DEFINITELY A COMEDIAN - looks like another rip off company from the 21st Century - is he feeling the pinch of the recession - must be if he spends that much time boring you with a good idea to get work into you and then mentions MONEY

I came across this page after out company was brought out by bt. if you don't belive me about the buy out type into google bt ufindus.com (bt customerstreet.com is a trading name ufindus.com). we are not a scam but a leading company for adverting on the internet. and when I spoke to the guy about the eric morecambe statue it's because he asked me where i was based and i was explaining it to him. Also he thinks that our company is feeling the credit crunch, since it started our office has never had so many sales. also that listing that he refers to builder called niall was not me there are plently of people out there called niall. hope this helps. our company is on the up and up.

my daughter worked for these in huddersfield for a short while, the job was nothing like she was told in the interview, she said the people were very  nice but push push push, for sales she found it very stressful and uncomfortable and not a place you would want to work at for long i think you have to be of a certain calibre to do this job

Just received a call from 01524543400. regardless of what the company may or not be offering the 'gentleman' calling was quite obviously completely ignorant of my business and yet assumed that I was stupid enough not to realise. Sooner or later this knid of sales tactic has to be legislated against. I suggest that nobody parts with any money to a company that talks total nonsense. Genuine companies do not need to pretend to be customers etc. It is interesting when these sales people show their true colours as they are blatently rude when they do not get to actually 'steal' your money.

Yep... i've been called by BT customer street many times listened to what they have to say and offer, it is reminiscent of the old ufindus spiel, along with the pushy sales tactics and curtness, they lie!

In a recent call I was informed by a certain sales person that they owned ....yes OWNED! Googles top ten search results for particular keyword combinations just so happening to be very relevant to my companys services and operational area.

this simply is impossible, as for those of you in the know Google is an organic search engine. Even if you phoned Google up and offered them money to place you at the top of all relevant search results they would not as they organically produce the results by trawling the internet harvesting information and websites relevancys with robot programs and order this information using complex algorithms.

Google as do many of the search engine corps have an advertising program (AdWords) with which you can bid on search terms to have a small advert appear on the right hand side of the results how much you bid is respective of how high your advert will appear in this advertising column, you can also have your advertising appear on other relevant websites, your given alot of control over how much you spend and how and where your ads show. There is also business listings etc.. on Google - also FREE.

For those of you with websites - inclusion into the google index is free! as long as it is upto the standard required by the inclusion program you will be able to submit your website.

For those of you without websites have one built by a local professional you can talk with face to face who you are comfortable with understands your needs as a business and the geography of your clientbase, and where he lives,  instead of having a crappy generic URL, templated based one ;)

I'm off to Google to report this, let you know what their response is.

    Much love.

Had a phone call this morning from 01524 543400 on my mobile. I missed the call. About 3hrs later I had another mobile call from a man I couldn't understand. I told him it was a wrong number (his number was 07900 383651 - familiar to anyone?)

Anyhow, my mobile now has a couple of new contacts, known as 'Nuisance Call'. If they ring again, it flags up with their 'name' so I don't answer. :-)
