customer street keep calling me, I ignore it now.  They are a pushy hard sell bunch of cowboys! They are only interrested in getting money off you there and then.  I also know other tradesmen who have been harrassed by them and had their verbal abuse down the phone when they don't buy.  DON'T SPEAK TO THEM.

Pretty straightforward call this morning asking for my wife. I just asked them for details and said she'd call back if she was interested - let's see if they take that for an answer.

Personally I never buy anything unsolicited over the phone and if I identify a need for something I do my own looking, so I never find this kind of call welcome, even if they are genuine.

To "meg" - I don't think this really constitutes a scam as such; you will get something for your money but only time will tell if it was worth it. If a listing on the service brings you new custom, why should you care if other people have had a poor experience?

My wife has tried a few of these - some more honest in their presentation than others - and none of them have ever broken even for the money she's spent, so we turn them down flat now. But that could just be the type of business she's in, it could be a completely different story for you.

I'd say that if you've already stumped up for it, just make sure you get what you're promised and chase them to make your listings as effective as possible, but don't part with any more money. If you get a load more business as a direct result, it obviously works for you regardless of how you got on there in the first place. If you don't get more business just make sure you don't get renewed automatically and forget about it.

Havereceived two calls now from this number on my mobile.
I did not get to the phone (luckily) hence no message left either by "them". They called once on the 5th Jan 2009 and then again at 09:00hrs on the 6th.  so glad I looked this number up on here first as did not know who they were but have had this type of hassle/scam?/type people telephone before but different numbers - I guess they get their money from the useless calling back thing.
But as I never call back numbers that won't leave a message, I was lucky this time.
Great to have a site where you can check on the numbers, sometimes it does not work as obviously it depends on all of us to report when an odd number appears out of the blue.  So thanks to those of you who reported this number as it has been a great help to me, and hopefully this adds to the helpful line!!
Happy New Year folks and may we all "report" and at least rid the world of a few irritating numbers.

Got the call today after advertising on gumtree. Told me they are having 30 Scaffolding job requests a month and need a reputable company to offer them to. Why would anybody wanting Scaffolding ask BT Customer street? The lady although polite went on for half an hour showing me websites that they do and that I will appear first on Google searches all for £299 set up fee and then £59 plus VAT a month, When I appear at the top of Google anyway with Google adwords for £30 a month at the most and I am not having to commit to a 12 month plan I can simply switch the ad off as I please.

Customer Street called me today. Called on my home phone, asked for me by name, asked if I still did Domestic Energy Assessments, which I do, so I said Yes and hearing that calling centre background noise, I asked who was calling. The girl, (northern English accent) said Customer street and hung up!

I Googled the name whilst expecting her to call again with her pitch and vaguely recognised the number from this listing so clicked onto this site. I think I have had numerous missed calls on my business mobile with no message left, I have also called back a missed call number on two separate occasions to get a message asking me to call them on another 0844 number and then I hung up.

What got me suspicious today is that they rang my home phone asking for me personally and then asking me about my business. The numbers and addresses are not linked in any way?? Unlawful use of data I would say...

No doubt I am in for a few calls over the next few weeks on the home phone.

My wife took call for Hypnotherapy from a 'shauna'.
Shauna gave 01524543400 number for me to call. As most of my clients are 'local' thought I'd check out the number. Wasn't too surprised to find this site. There are so many of these scam type calls.
Just don't part with any money!!!!

It's an internet advertising company for small businesses. The ywill try and give you the hard sell. Thats what they do for a living. If they hang up before you answer its because they are on automatic number dial. It will dial around 200 numbers at once. The first person to answer will be spoken to. The others simply gets cut off until your number goes round the system. Why does everyone get freeked out about it on this site. They havent killed your granny have they?

I have had a very different experience with this company. I have been with them for about 6 months now, i am a hypnotherapist in the central london area and I generate work from them. I appear all over the top pages of the search engines with my key phrases and I am extremely happy with the service they provide for me. They contact me on a monthly basis to make sure that it's working for me unlike other companies out there. It makes me laugh when people comment on something they know nothing about Anyone with half a brain would know that google is the best place to advertise your company and if you're on the front page of course it's going to generate you work. I would strongly advise to give them a go and let them do for you what they are doing for me.

Got a call from a lady saying she wanted to talk to my husband about personal training (he's a PT) - by the time I'd got him to answer the phone she'd disappeared. Googled and found this site - glad she did disappear and that I didn't return the call.

We get loads of calls from people offering to optimise our business listing in Google - sort of assumed this is one of them. I'll 1471 the next one who rings and see if it's actually the same.

OH MY GOD I couldn't get them off the phone!! It was amazing they just kept going!!! Even when I said there is absolutely no way I would buy anything from a cold caller she would not let go. In 21 years of fending off these calls I have never had such a tough call to get rid of! Finally managed though. Whatever you do do not engage in conversation as I did to get rid of them!

    Amazed again
Just received this email from Sherry after I had spoken to her manager who was incredibly rude and unprofessional.

Many thanks for listening this morning, I apologise that the call became a little bit ‘brutal’. Please accept this note by way of an apology .

Still – have a little think and a look round and email me back if you wish to give us a go.

    Kind regards, Sherry

All these comments from "satisfied customers" trying to convince people that Customer Street are wonderful and urging people to give these annoying morons "a go" are hysterical...WHY WOULD ANYONE WHO IS HAPPY WITH A COMPANY GO LOOKING FOR A SITE LIKE THIS????????

The ONLY reasons people come across this sort of site is when they've had phone calls from an unknown number or to check out something they're suspicious about.

I've never felt it necessary to Google the phone number of any company I'm happy with - why would I?

I've said it elsewhere on these pages and I'll say it again - CUSTOMER STREET STOP WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME BY WRITING FALSE TESTIMONIALS - YOU'RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE

...and they're STILL persisting in ringing me on a regular basis - they now tend to do it from a "witheld number"...you just can't get rid of these idiots, so they deserve no courtesy whatsoever as they exhibit none themselves.

As Independent Financial Advisers we are subject to very strict rules regarding Financial Promotions. These people told me to look at several of their existing customer sites - every single one of them was not compliant with the regulations. They claim this is not there responsibility - IT SHOULD BE!
    i will not be proceeding

I was unfortunatly scammed into giving my details months ago(April 2008). Fortunatly the contract was cancelled and I got my money back.
The tale does not finish there.
They resurected the original telephone call in September.
I told them that I had not phoned them in the month stated and even sent them copies of my phone bills as proof.
They have since not replied to phone calls or registered letters.
They heve now passed the debt to a debt collector.
BE WARNED DO NOT PASS DETAILS TO THEM.
