had a call with lindsay 13/05/09..they got my number from a website id advertised on - similiar story  to above - trying to get me coaching clients to start and get me interested - then to sign up for ufindus, smilelocal, moveuk..directory listings - wanted £299 for the year..!
    - got really aggressive and pushy and personal towards the end of 40 minute call....kept insisting i sign up today...what a load of crap...i put the phone down...in the end ..stay away...!!! COULD BE A "WATCHDOG" contender..!

Call received today - very aggressive marketing for 'Findme' type websites - said they had 9 people in my area looking for therapy and we weren't on page 1 of the relevant Google search. When I told the caller we don't deal with intermediary organisations to obtain work - caller persisted with aggression. When asked if they would confirm their telephone call in an email so that we could look into their company further - caller refused point blank. Didn't get name of the company but I recall being told "we have been taken over by BT". Continually talked over and down to me - a perfect lesson in how to turn customers away. I agree with the previous posting - definitely 'Watchdog' material.

ADVICE TO ALL THERAPISTS: AVOID CALLS FROM 01524 543400 LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Got a call from these people the other day offering me customers in order for a fee (I didn't ask how much). I make wedding cakes and got this call a few days after I placed an ad on gumtree.  It all sounded a bit fishy so I said no and then googled their number and landed on this website!  It seems I'm not alone and also that they don't specialise in any area at all - anywhere where they could con someone out of their hard-earned cash!  I definitely won't be calling them back.

    Hi all,

Just thought I would drop my own 2 cents worth in here. I am an employee of BT CustomerStreet and I am not the soul sucking vampire you will assume. I have no parasitic tendencies nor did I join the company to scam other people. Of course my motivation is financial but then I have a family dependency that dictates such a role over job satisfaction. But this is besides the point...

Ever since I started working at CustomerStreet I have never guaranteed anyone first page position on the search engines, millions of new customers or a godlike ability to pull monkeys out of there own [***]. I have only said what we could deliver, I have only called if we don't have anyone working with us in an area already AND we have received a strong level of searches through our products for that service. Amazingly I am actually looking to form genuine long-term business relationships with people that can actually see the point of getting found online and my results so far are testament to that. If anyone isn't on the first page of google or yahoo who I have signed up, I bust the preverbial nut to get them there. The simple fact of the matter is that everyday I am in contact with one of the companies who have come on board with me to make sure things are going as they should and that they believe I am delivering what I said I could and why wouldn't I? They may have paid money to BT but they invested their faith in me.

Now I know there are some hard-nut sellers within our own company but there are just as many if not more people who are actually working their [***] off to do the same as me. I am not a salesperson by nature but this job has become one of the most satisfying (and frustrating, in equal measure) roles I have ever had.

And regarding the phone number... we use a one way junctioning system. Thats why if you call the number back you get a 0845 request. Its simply a network protocal for VOIP. If I call you and you want my number I will happily give it to you (although the chances of you getting through are pretty slim since my job is to be on the phone all day long)

We are not a scam. We just chose a different path to spending millions on catchy jingles for a tv commercial and then signing everyone up in an area to pay for it. And unfortunately that has obviously pissed a few people off..

Oh and by the way if we have phoned you a couple of times, instead of bitching about it just ask us to exempt the phone number.. its not exactly hard to do.

I often get calls from these clowns, they are indeed BT customer street. What they offer is a listing guaranteeing you front page of google for a small fortune. How they can guarantee this is beyond me as not even google can do this. My site is already first page on google but only in certain searches, when i told them this they asked me to pay even more wonga to be gauranteed top of the list. No need for this as i also use google adwords. Eventually  she got sick of my "[***] you aint havin my money" attitude, and hung up on me. They also call on 01484 467340, Beware!

..... Oh and Monkeyfudge, BT cstreet employees do indeed state "no other company can guarantee you front page listing in google, but we can" Truth is, You cannot. I requested my details be removed from your data and you simply call on a different number 01484 467340 and say it's a different system.
Monkeyfudge, take a look at the result of you're sales tactics here http://www.fsb.org.uk/discuss/forum_posts.asp?TID=1656

Not too many satisfied customers, and some of these have already payed for your BS services!! Ta ta for now!

On 20/05/2009 I had a call from a woman called 'Sophie' asking me if I wanted more clients and that they were currently looking for people in my area who could provide such a service...and currently there was apparently no one...and that I would be No.1.

After a long talk, I said I dont buy immediately and like to think about things especially when the set up fee was £299+VAT and then £29 each month!!
Lady was very pushy and kept on repeating about getting my website up on No.1 page of google..already told her I was up there and she still said she could offer better things for me. In the end, she knew I wasnt going to buy so that was that. OR SO I THOUGHT.

The next day at 9.30am the same number came up on my mobile. This time I ignored it...the voice mesage left, stated that it was 'Sophie from bt customer care and with the same message (but obviously she didnt realise she had rung me the day before...good organisiation to call the same number again..or was this a ploy!!?? If I was interested in getting more clients for the service I offered, then I was to call her back on:

Reading most of the comments on this page..which I came across as I googled BTCC, I'm glad I didnt go ahead.

    'Ow Do all

The only guarantee we can make is for first page positions on OUR products. We are not Google, Yahoo or MSN. Let me just reiterate that all this is from my perspective but the simple fact of the matter is that all calls are recorded and monitored and as far as I am aware if anyone says they can guarantee search engine positions then their backside wouldn't touch the floor. Do any of you honestly think that BT would let a massive legal clanger like that slide? They are the most anally retentive company I have ever worked for!

I am not saying that what we do is for everyone..it isn't. But that fact of the matter is that we offer something very different to Thompson Local, Yell etc. Couple the fact that you get placed in highlighted top positions in at least 3 different directories all with really strong positions online with the fact that you also get a FREE website and FREE hosting submitted to every valid search engine in the UK, and that website content is completely under your control with no limitations on the number of pages, pictures or content you want to add (and no charges too). And lets not forget that if someone does come on board with us that within the directories they are not paying to be in the exact same position as half of their competition (unlike most other directory services) because where is the value in that?

Thats me done, I've said my piece. At the end of the day what we do works...plain and simple. I've seen it work with 95% of my customers and they have ended up in the exact positions they needed to be in to generate work online with the back-up of the people that search through us directly. For some it doesn't work as well as it could with the website but they still generate work through the directories.

Just do yourselves a favour...go to the google adwords keyword tool and type in what you do, where you live (kitchen fitting burnley, painting and decorating tottenham..etc) and just see how many people type those searches in a month on average. You might be surprised, you might not.

Got a call from this number today.

My wife has a therapy, hypnotherapy, and holistic massage business - it's not doing very well and I've been out of work for 7 months, so things aren't good.

The caller (in a Northern accent) said, "Hello, is that <wife's company name>?". I said "Yes", then added (for the reasons mentioned above) "...I hope you're not trying to sell anything".

    The caller immediately hung up.

Curious, I dialled 1471 to see who'd called and then (on a whim) googled for the number and found this place.

    Glad I did...!

Thanks for this site - am gonna ignore any future calls from this and many other scammers that tried! Also have a holistic therapy business - way too many people tried to sell me things already without any luck :)!

I've got a phone call from this number. The guy on the phone named 'Ben Thompson' offered me to do a website design for free!! (How it's possible!!!)
As I works as a therapist and have registerd my details with HPC website, I assumme that he got all my information from there. He mentioned about my work and a couple of other therapists' names. I feel there's something wrong and a bit strange to receive a phone call like this. So I searched the number and luckily found it from this website that it is SCAM!!!

I am a hypnotherapist and received a call this morning which I thought was from a potential client as the lady asked if I could help her deal with panic attacks. After a lot of probing about what problems I could deal with, the lady then proceeded to give me a sales pitch and said she had 49 potential clients awaiting treatment locally.  She was very persistent and I had to be forceful to get her off the line after telling her that I was not interested in increasing my advertising or client base and that she was wasting her time.

I had a similar call to this about a year ago, when an advertising company working for the Fire Services Association rang trying to sell me space.

Avoid these calls like the plague.

This number was left without a message on my anser machine, I've been hounded by ufindus, and had numerous arguements with them - I used to work for an ecommerce company 10 years ago with much the same ethos - target people who they think know nothing about websites and how they work - i'm an ex developer who is now a hypnotherapist. I know about meta tags and google ad words and what the woman was saying was nonsense. I found this site googling the number and found another company - a sister one - doing the same thing.

They must stop lying about what they do.

Company still operating. Message was taken by a friend as I was at work.  They claimed they had my mobile number but fortunately there's no way they could have this and they did not contact me.  Thanks to this site I won't waste any time when they next call. I never purchase from cold callers!

Very vague message and she left number to call her back - 01524529000. Not interested in receiving cold calls from strangers trying to give sale pitches....it's flippin annoying!

Recieved a call today from this number. Was told about the amount of business they could generate for me. When I began to lose interest the salesman was miraculously able to offer me a 50% discount. Am glad I checked out the phone number as they seem to be to good to be true.
