- Caller: street,ufindus, smilelocal, and moreuk d
- AlexTrying to sell a new BT style ad campaign, with google adwords... Not sure how it came about but proceeded to tell me my current advertising was too expensive! Maybe so, but even though I said I wasn't interested in his services he continued, and quite agressively, tell me the stats of google searching Personal trainers etc (my line of work of course).
Why did I find myself arguing about my advertising?? He put me in a fowl mood, the B@$tard... Must be a crap job for him though!!- Caller: didn't catch, BT? selling google adwords
- cold callersI've had four or five of these from BT customer street in the last 6 months.
They are, as most have pointed out, too pushy and won't get off the line.
If they are associated with BT then BT has gone down yet further in my estimation.
Usual advice - DO NOT GIVE ANY BANK OR CARD DETAILS.
Really, to try and stop this, BT needs to get more complaints directly. So phone them and complain that they are 'nuisance calls' and get on to the preference service to cut out as many similar calls. Another one is the recent speight of 'get you out of debt' cold calls which are irritating rather than really annoying as they are automated.
The wonders of communication!- Caller: BTcustomer street
- Kate JonesI too have been taken in by Customerstreet. I am grateful to them for teaching me NEVER to agree to buy anything over the phone as a result of a cold call and NEVER to give my card details to someone I haven't called.
I am trying to make the best of a bad job (at least I didn't buy their website as I already have my own really good one) by getting them to put the correct details. I said I didn't want my home address included yet they did. I can't wait to get out of the contract.- Caller: BT Customerstreet
- lucky missI missed a call from them as I was driving. I didn't recognise the number so googled it and glad to say I missed the call!
Disgusted that BT condones this type of stuff. - LisaJust had a call from these guys. They left a voice mail - said he was called Mark Finch and asked me to call him back. No mention of customer street, just that he worked for BT. Thought i would double check before i rang him back and i am glad i did! He also told me that they have had some enquires about the type of business i am in in my area. What a load of rubbish.
- henhad this number a missed call so googled it before calling back and am very grateful for this website!
- David HughesBloke by the name of Andrew Melling phoned my mobile yesterday, claimed to be from BT Audio Visuals. I'm guessing the "Audio Visuals" bit was made up because it relates to my business and he was telling me they receive a lot of enquiries in that field which they need to pass on to a reliable company.
He wanted £299 set up fee and £69/month. He dropped this to £199 and £39. I was all set to sign up to it but decided to Google the number first. Am I glad I did!
Thanks to all contributors.- Caller: BT Audio Visuals!
- Dale HarperI am surprised to find that BT are behind this type of company, I quite often have calls on behalf of the Fire Brigade or the local Planning Office trying to sell some space in a non existent Year planner or Booklet and Im glad i searched the number on google
- Caller: BT ?
- Luke DavidsonDavid, exactly the same as me started out £299 but dropped to £199. But to be honest the deal to me seemed great. They offered me 2 great '.com' domain names that i would own out right. (they said they owned them already and would assign them to me, but i checked and both domains havent even been bought!) Now 2 days later after really thinking about what i've done i am really regretting giving them my details.
They took £275 out of my account for the 'set up fee' and first months payment. I am now trying to cancel but the only number i have is the reception team and after many calls they keep telling me i have to wait 7 days to get a call back from the sales team who will cancel my account. Terrible thing is, I know that i have to cancel within 7 days of taking out the account or i'm liable to pay the rest of the 11 months payments! What can i do!
Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Please! - Old Mother Riley. The 7 days they want you to wait just happens to be the period of time that the law allows you (under the Distance Selling Regulations) to cancel without penalty.
Do it NOW. - Luke DavidsonCheers Old Mother Riley... but Do WHAT NOW?
i know i have 7 days but they arent calling me back and they wont put me through to someone who can refund it for me. - Aggrieved! My partner was called by BT Customer Street yesterday. I believe this was probably down to the fact that he had put an advert for his new business on Gumtree.
Initially, my partner spoke to the sales person about what they had to offer and he said that he believed that it could be done elsewhere much cheaper. They told him this wasn't the case and that they could guarantee that his site would come up first on the main search engines. If this company had not been linked to BT, then he would not have entertained the call at all. Basically, what they managed to do was completely fraudulently sell a product that doesn't exist in the form they sell it.
This was 24 hours ago - we have just managed to get a refund (WE WILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON THIS WITH THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY).
We immediately looked up the company after the sales call and realised that we'd been had. Their websites are not fully functioning - you can only upload one photo per page and they look terrible. you would be much better off, financially and business wise, building your own free site via the numerous free templates there are available online. In addition, they promise to put you top of the return list on a search for a business of your type in your area. This is a promise that they cannot uphold and, as such, is a fraudulent claim. They are also extremely rude over the phone.
We managed to get a refund after calling them numerous times demanding that they cancel the account. On each occasion we were told different stories. Firstly, they tried to re-sell the whole denacle to us, which didn't work. Then the account manager called and he also tried to save the sale, but said that he wasn't authorised to cancel the account. I called anonymously and asked to speak to someone who had the power to cancel accounts immediately. They were not happy to speak to me unless I verified some 'security information' to them. As far as they were concerned when they picked up the phone I could very well have been a 'new' customer wanting them to sell me something... what security information should I have to confirm? Ridiculous. I was then told that the account managers and the manager of the account management team were the only people who could cancel an account. I asked to be put through to the manager immediately and was told that they were all out for lunch. Top be honest, they'll fob you off with this 'they're not available' cr@p forever and a day, so don't put up with it.
I called the BT group to complain about them and many people there didn't even know who they were. After much to-ing and fro-ing I was told that I had to go through the complaints process at BT Customer Street, i.e. request a manager and if that manager does not resolve the complaint then request another manager. Clearly, this is a difficult thing to do with a company that likes to make all the people who can 'help' you disappear when you need them.
I would advise the following (it seemed to work for us):
1 - CONTACT YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY IMMEDIATELY AND ADVISE THEM THAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO A FRAUDULENT SALE.
2 - CALL BT CUSTOMER STREET AND REQUEST THAT YOU SPEAK TO YOUR ACCOUNT MANAGER. REQUEST THAT THE ACCOUNT IS CANCELLED AND A FULL REFUND IS MADE TO YOU. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE AUTHORITY, REQUEST TO SPEAK TO THEIR MANAGER IMMEDIATELY.
3 - BE VERY CLEAR TO THESE PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE CALLING TO CANCEL AND NOTHING THEY CAN SAY WILL MAKE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND.
4 - BE SURE TO TELL THEM, IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, THAT IF YOUR REQUEST IS NOT COMPLETED WITHIN THAT WORKING DAY, THEN YOU WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO TRADING STANDARDS, WRITING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT TO THE BT GROUP AND THAT YOU WILL ALSO BE GETTING YOUR LOCAL MP TO INVESTIGATE THE COMPANY AND IT'S DEALINGS.
It is also very interesting to note that when I told a friend of mine that this company had tried to rip us off, she told me that she had recently been to an interview at the Huddersfield office. She left BEFORE the interview because she was so disgusted with what she saw and heard going on around her. She said that if you were willing to sell your Granny then you'd be a shoe-in for a job there.
Even if our refund does come through, I feel very strongly tempted to write to Trading Standards, my local MP and the head honcho at the BT group to highlight this clearly fraudulent method of selling - not to mention the harassment that these people are inflicting upon people.
I realise that these people are just doing their job, but no self-respecting person can honestly say that they would be happy pulling the wool over people's eyes in this way. They should all be prosecuted.
pay NO ATTENTION to the posts on here saying that they work for Bt Customer Street and 'look, all these websites prove that we're a part of BT... you can trust us!' This is all part of the game... they want you to trust the BT name, which many of us do. It doesn't mean that they are trustworthy, it means that BT have let themsleves down by being associated with such scumbags in the first place.
I feel sorry for the people posting these statements, as they clearly have a very warped moral view of what is acceptible. I hope karma rips them off ten-fold in response to them targetting small developing businesses that clearly don't have huge advertising budgets and scamming them out of money for a product that they have mis-sold.
They have no shame. DISGRACEFUL- Caller: BT Customer Street
- Tony HeathI had a similar call from a male today (20 Nov 2009) who refused his name, he insisted that he was calling on behalf of BT yet when I questioned him regarding information that he as a BT employee would have at his disposal he was UNABLE to supply me with any of the information.
With that, and my questions to him he then became very obnoxious towards me as I accused him of ‘cold calling’ I ended the conversation by simply telling him to ‘[***]’
He then called again but this time I ignored the call and let the answerphone take over….guess what? He left no message!!!! I wonder why?- Caller: BT Customer Street
- SimonThis company is probably the lowest of the low and the fact that they decide to come on here and try to use this site to sell their products makes them even more so! A totally laughable and pathetic attempt at convincing us!
This company is an unscrupulous, dishonest bunch of scammers! Ignore their silly attempts on here to convince us otherwise and don't touch these crooks with a bargepole!
Phoned me today and I Googled the number before answering. Thank goodness. - not importanti think you are all a bunch of idiots that are writing on this site and some of the rubbish you are coming out with is a complete joke.
firstly the company is owned by BT and was bought out around 18months ago by BT for 20 million pound. so anyone claiming that they are not BT why dont you get your facts straight? secondly the packages available are differently priced depending on the areas you want to cover, obviously the more you want the more it costs. the package is very very competitively priced if you know the market which obviously none of you do. idiots that have come on here and slagged the company off who used to work for the company are obviously those who couldnt make it because the coulnt sell. it is not a scam. quite simple. if it was it wouldnt be able to continue to trade.
if there is anyone on here that is not happy, why dont you do the sensible thing and call the company and express your concern, instead of acting like pathetic children and bitching on a stupid web blog? the fact that you have the time to sit and waste your pathetic lives writing lies tells me that you need this product more than anyone. - SimonGo away crook. Getting abusive is just a sign of how unprofessional you bunch of criminals are. By trolling one here, you only make yourselves even worse. I my opinion, you are trying to reduce this thread to a slanging match so all the comments get deleted and you can post your junk earlier in the new thread so it appears on the first page.
Do not insult our intelligence further.
DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGEPOLE. - SimonI might also add that playing the "ex employee" as a form of ad hominem to try to discredit comments from people you ripped off will not wash. Absolutely pathetic.
Once again, DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. - Buyer Beware! Some evidence about the type of company this is

http://ritchiejhicks.proboards.com/index.cgi? ... splay&thread=12 - HMMan just called me from this number and had found our business (based at home) asking if I know of our company name. I refused and said that he had the wrong number and he kept me on the line asking other questions. I again refused and then he apologised and went. The background sounded like a call centre and we have lots of sales calls. He sounded like that. Never deal I say!
