Refer to the Consumer Action Group website (a free public forum board), where you'll find plenty of info on this company and how to be rid of them.

Yes, MacKenzie Hall - or 'Mucky Balls' as they are also known - are very well known there, and what you read on the CAG boards will open your eyes to this company indeed.

Bob -you say - and I quote "Furthermore may i add that the current credit crunch is due to people leaving unpaid bills for years"

Wrong, Wrong , Wrong - the credit crunch is due to bankers gambling YOUR money on hedge investments. you moron. And if you actually spent some time reading all about this company you would understand that they are working outside of current FRISA legislation - and often the debt belongs to the household, not the householder. I.E. a bad debt belonging to the house from a previous owner - but I'm sure your simple mind can comprehend this. Merry Christmas and hope you don't use your credit card

I think you Julie and Bob should both stop and think about judging and making comments about people who may actually have severe financial difficulties through no fault of their own. Whilst there may be the element of pay back any debt that  one has borrowed, this does not give a cowboy bullyboy company the right to harass,  threaten and bully  people into handing over money that they dont have, does it? any way this is not a forum to make such comments  such as yours, this company are scaring some people. FACT

Been bombarded with 'silent calls' from this number recently, having moved to a new address where the previous occupant had died, leaving many debts.  Turns out to be Mackenzie Hall, a firm from KIlmarnock that chase after expired (statute barred) debts.  Often getting the wrong person...

On the one occaision I got to speak to someone, he demanded all sorts of personal information, which I refused to give.  Lets face it, I said - you could have been anyone fishing for information.  He then said he would pass the matter to their doorstep collection branch & slammed the phone down.

They keep phoning for my husband for a debt he paid off over 5 years ago. Either them or their sister company. Luckily, they don't know where we live so we are considering just changing our number. We shouldn't have to though, they shouldn't be allowed to harrass people like this.

Can't believe I've allowed myself to be scammed by these people. Somehow they got my work number and called me there! Told me if I didn't give them £8k settlement within the next few days for a credit card debt of £15k I have no knowledge of from 2002,  I'd be made bankrupt. Told me i wasn't entitled to see copies of statements or agreements after all this time. Aargh like an idiot I gave them £100 on my debit card to stop them taking further action. Have now had to cancel my card as I'm petrified they'll just take more money from my account........Why didn't I search for them first!

If nothing was paid in a six year period (five years, if you're in Scotland), then the account would be stature barred anyway - that means that court action is impossible.  And, via a Subject Access Request, yes you are entitled to see copies of statements and agreements.

Until they or anyone else who demands money for this 'account' gives you the necessary information, make NO further payments at all.  You may be able to claim the £100 back from your bank (you could claim that this was paid under duress).

Refer to the following weblink for further details - www.consumeractiongroup.com/debt-collection-industry

Oh, and Kilmarnock Trading Standards contact regarding complaints about this company is Alan Stewart - who is very well aware of what MacKenzie Hall/Meritforce are like.

hi there I also agree with people paying off owed money but if you read the above messages it would appear a lot of these folk don't have debt either. Therefore this company is bogus and should be outed. I have never in my life owed debt yet I got a call from this company today, why? I received a call, when I said hello there was a minute silence before whom ever it was making the call hung up, why?

May I respond to Bob and Julies comments, yes it is the honest think to do pay a bill BUT it is in my opinion immoral to charge such crazy fees for a debt that was originally quite small. people go through rough times and can also be financially naive. We live and learn and that is a part of life. To imply people being chased by these debt collection agencies are dishonest in any way is extreemly judgemental and unjustified. Please make sure you think before you type.

This Agency are still ringing for a debt my friend has recently paid, is that fair and honest?  It is very difficult.

Just ignore these foolish scam artists. They are under the impression that I owe them money, yet they don't know my NAME or where I LIVE! How do they know I owe them money if they haven't the foggiest who I am? I owe nobody anything. I got a new phone and before I'd used it ir given out the new number to a soul, I was getting texts and voice mail from these dogs.
Put it this way: Would a reputable company text you and leave voice mail numerous times a day, or would they send you a letter with all the correct details, in a polite and courteous manner?
