Got a call from this number Wed Dec 15th late afternoon. Could hardly make out the message but understood that the intended caller was unknown to me. Pressed button 3 to confirm this. Should I be concerned?

I too let the phone ring and ring,,, and then they call back and have blocked their call..IDIOTS!!! just dial 1471 and you can find out the IDIOTS that continue to call...

maybe you should get a life instead of going onto forums to slag people off about bad debt when you don't even know the circumstances they are in financially. Oh how nice to be so morally perfect!

These jokers rang me last year about a debt I have and threatened me with the police at my door, it was a scottish woman and she was such a bully.  I had a heart attack 5 years ago at the age of 30yrs old, when she started threatening me with the police I really did get scared and phoned a friend of mine who works in a solicitors and she told me the police can't do anything. I was that bad that I couldn't stop shaking for days, she nearly had me back in hospital with another heart attack.  Really nasty [***], I told CAB about these people and they even told me to tell them to [***] off or even whistle down the phone at them, but I can't whistle, lol, so I don't answer house fone anymore, don't even know why I have a house fone only for using the internet.

I do not have any debts, I am one of the luck few. I received a call just now from this delightful company claiming that I owe a catalogue money from...1994-1999 How? They used my maiden name. I was married under a different name then, and they used the wrong initial middle name. If they are going to scam, they are going to have to pick on a weaker highlander.

A quick once over

All debts in the UK are civil (unless you lied on the application) if they want their money and you are not willing or able to pay them they will have to sue you in the county court

the courts are understanding and will not make you pay what you cannot afford (within reason)
If the debt is over seven years old do not acknowledge it this will make it impossible for them to take the debt to the court and therefore impossible for them to get their money back

Harassing you for a debt is illegal in the UK and therefore threats of “we will send the boys round” seldom result in anything unless you borrowed the money from Big Vern

These people are unbelievable , i have had three calls from them , i offered to PAY not dodged them and i was told i didnt qualify as i handt told some stranger the caller all my financial outgoings and explained what i did with my money .This is after i had offered to pay a hundred pound a month to these jokers. They are now calling me about a " goodwill gesture " and even if i pay this then i not guaranteed to be accepted as someone who can pay the money back in installments. The most disturbing thing was they said " all your work colleagues will know about your debts when we send the attachment of earnings order , and how will you feel when we go for repossesion of your home , they are bullies and i would advise that you speak to genuine people who can talk to them about your problems rather than talk to them direct as you will either crumble and promise something you cant keep up , or you will want to drive to scotland and do some serious damage to the idiot you have just spoken to

They also go by the name Meritforce and use the number 0844 411 5633.
They have been harassing me for months and months (probably longer) - via text, calls to my mobile, calls to my home and by letter on a very frequent basis and also use the other names they go by in-between these.
That is called harassment and Im contacting my solicitor now as Im disabled and on a less than low income. I cant keep up with all the different phone numbers they use, so they will be slapped with a solicitors letter warning them about harassment and the law that protects us against it.

Oh and just in case anyone wants to leave a negative comment - the debt was dealt with over 2 years ago directly with the company.

Debt Collectors looking for ex of mine. It relates to a very very old debt of very little. Nothing untoward when I dealt with them The simply removed my number.

same number now going by the name 'Engage'...looks like they will stop at nothing to intimidate people, ignore them and if you do have a debt, let the courts of law deal with it fairly and legally on your behalf.

As stated this is the debt collection agency DO NOT confirm your address with them by doing this you are opening cases or debt that can be unto 10 years old!! Just a confirmation can open the case and you will then have to pay. Any debt that is older than 5 years i Believe is statuary barred and is not able to be claimed back! They try and collect very old debts!

i had a car on finance lost my job so they took car back and now expect me to pay 30 pounds a week when jobseekers only give 65 i have a wife and 2 children to support on this money but they wont accept my offers

I had a call from them today and the first question they asked was can i confirm my address, date of birth and post code?.  I immediately asked who they were and they asked me the same question again.  My response was "I won't give my personall details unless you tell me who you are and what you want".  They then said They couldn't tell me why they were calling unless I give the information they require, so my last and final answer was "Goodbye" and I hung up.   If they won't tell me what the call is about, then I won't give them any information.  So sod off Mackenzie Hall!!

It gets worst when they are calling your work number. It is very frustrating. I have been told by one of my managers that there is nothing they can do with their threatening behaviour. As long as you do not admit anything they can sod off. If they can produce a signature that says you sign a contract with them, then all means keep calling, but ask them to produce the contract you signed with them, and they have to leave you alone because there is no contract with Mackenzie Hall.  I just cannot believe these LOSERS. Go get a job you 50p an hour JERKS.

If your saying your only getting 65 pound then your only claiming for yourself, something you cannot do if your married?

is your wife working? if yes then your commiting benefit fraud by claiming job seekers. they will expect you to live on your wifes wages and if that isn't enough then she should be claiming working tax credit.


sorry but your figures just dont add up.
