This number belongs to a company that tells you it is Google, but isn't.  Takes money from your bank, says it's a one off payment and then continues to take money from your bank account on a monthly basis. When we tried to call the company to stop it, they said that although we had told them verbally to stop (and told it was fine) they couldn't action it unless we wrote to them - but they didn't tell us that!

I got a call on this number on my mobile, so it wan't hidden, but a woman called jenny said she was calling from Google. Bascically, she tried to offer me some fantastic deal about paying just £499 to be on the front page of Google for a month for my keywords. It all sounded very plausible, but then I began to think that this was all a bit too good to be true. I know that some companies are paying thousands of pounds per day to be on the front page, why would they give it to me for just £499? When they asked for my credit card details I made an excuse about not having it on me and said I would call them back. That's when I looked up their number and came across the information here. World Wide Marketing Solutions don't try to hide themselves - they even have a website with contact details on it - but they're not Google, as the caller claimed, and I doubt very much they can get me onto the front page for a month for £499. Good SEO can do that for free!

I also fell for their scam. They claimed they were Google, and when I challenged them to prove it they said they'd create the listing temporarily on Google so that I could see it online for myself.  I fell for this without realising at the time that they were simply using AdWords, with a very specific search keyphrase with little other competition, so it would almost guarantee appearing in the "champagne" sponsored links area at the top of the listing.  The email address they provide at the time is a googlemail account, which adds to the "authenticity".  They also charged me an extra £20 "activation fee" and VAT, which they hadn't mentioned.

Like some other scams this happened to me a couple of hours after I'd registered my website on BT Tradespace; I wonder if anyone else is the same?

They've also used the phone numbers 0161-425-8171 and 0161-637-2239 by the looks of it.

I suggest anyone hit by this scam calls the Consumer Direct helpline, even if you're a business, as this seems to be the only way I could log my complaint with Trading Standards.  I'm also going to call Google (0207-031-3000) to let them know what's going on.  If enough of us do this then hopefully they'll be closed down.

Don't get fooled into accepting their 1 month trial, you end up spending 3 months trying to get out of it and then they won't refund your money. They don't give you the full information up front and when you try and speak to someone in charge you get passed from pillar to post and then get told you will be called back, but you never get a call. Even after you send a cancellation letter they still take payments from your credit card, you don't get any paperwork from them either.  I asked if they had a complaints department and they said what am I complaining about and then said that I should refer to their terms on the website. You can't get any higher than the office manager.  They have really bad business practices and in this day and age of everything being up front and all companies should have an official route of complaint then this company is completely lacking. If there is an ombudsman for this type of company then let me know because they need to be reported.

I also fell for the "I'm from Google" line and agreed to £99 per month. I specified the web page to go to. I then received a pdf invoice including a £20 fee which wasn't mentioned by the sales guy, and from this company Worldwide Marketing Solutions which I'd never heard of. He said that 1400 people per month searched for the phrase we agreed, and gave me the impression that this was a lot. He also said that if I wasn't happy I could suspend the advertising at any time just by phoning them up.

I phoned the number to complain and they said they would give me another search phrase to compensate for the £20. They also tried to sell me a £49 upgrade to get on other search engines, which I declined. The helpdesk person basically said the sales guy was simply generating leads that the helpdesk would then correct for things like target web page, as I couldn't really expect a sales person to get this sort of thing right. The helpdesk also rubbished the phrases that the sales guy recommended, and made some changes.

A couple of days later I checked on Google Analytics only to see no traffic being generated. I emailed the company but heard nothing.

I called again today to say that I wanted to cancel the agreement and get a full refund as per their guarantee. He explained that this was simply a guarantee to "increase web presence" and that because I had 1 hit through the search term they had therefore fulfilled the terms of the contract! He also said that without a search rate of 80,000/month I had little hope of getting any hits -- somewhat higher than the 1400/month that the sales person said was a lot!

I've now written the registered post letter to cancel the agreement, but the company refuses to refund the money and will at most just terminate the agreement. So I'm almost £140 out of pocket for 1 website hit. And they tell me there's nobody I can speak to apart from the helpdesk leader.

I've checked on companies house and the company is late filing its accounts. There's no indication of who the directors are.

In retrospect I would say to keep right away from this company. This is sad as I think what they're selling is ok, but they don't seem to be honest about who they are, what they will do nor how hard they are to deal with.

I to used this company and was told it would only cost £99 then £20 activation fee added. I was not happy with my website and spoke to a guy called dan Howard. He told me they could build a website for about £200 and i could put my account on Hold. said the site would be finished in 5 days. Weeks later site was not finished and was basic and crap. I was then charged and additional £140 pounds to upgrade my account and then after a few weeks another £116 taken out.. Kept calling to speak to Dan howard who never  returned my calls eventually they sent me an e-mail saying a Marvin Jarvis was handling my account. I tried to complain but this guy was just a rude person who you couldn't reason with. I am also going to contact trading standards and am considering reporting them to the police for deception, What they don't know is I have got recordings of some of the conversations. I suggest that if this company has your credit card details they could end up any where!!!!! The people they employ don't seem to care about their customers or have any people skills and all hide behind the end of the phone. Cancel your credit cards now before they take more money for doing nothing...I have on the advice of police.

This company is a complete scam, they just want your credit cards. Yes they offer a service! They have just jumped on the band wagon and used Google Advertising to line their pockets and completely rip you off. There is no point in even trying to speak to this company when you discover you've been had in the bag, as they are highly trained proffessional Con artists. I have spoke with a Dan Howard, Scott Harris (which by the way i'm sure their the same people).

I have managed to get my money back from my bank but it took a great deal of time and inconvienence. If you discover you have been conned by this company. Just call you bank and do not tell them you gave them your details because it's classed as your fault. I only got my money back because the bank made a stupid error on there part. Just cancel your credit card and say someone has got your details and you don't know them.

And today I had a call from Worldwide Marketing Solutions, Accounts Department asking for payment because they can't get it out my bank, ha ha what a shame! But have been threatened that if they don't get a call back today by 3pm they are passing my detail to court. Bring it on! I loved to see them court.

    Complete Scam!!!!!

Exactly the same happened to me as others, except I was charged £197 initially for a one month trial and they have then taken a further 2 months money out of my bank account before I realised what was happening. They said they were Google Front Page and would get me onto Google front page - that is the only reason I dealt with them- thinking they were Google. However, every time I rang to say I wasn't on the front page - or even page 9, I was given some excuse or told that they were seeing me on the front page. I even got another marketing company to check it out for me and they agreed that I was nowhere on page one. Now they dont reply to my calls.  I have reported them to Trading Standards and Consumer Direct and my bank are trying to get the money back.

Sounds a lot like a bunch of scammers that cost me £25000 three years ago.  I think I recognised the voice of one of them as it is etched into my memory from the trauma it caused. The names are similar, marvin, Jenny, richard, Bryn, Dan. There are 33 of us still fighting to get our money back with little hope. Steer Clear.  Stay Alert!!!

    Harry,

Can you go into any more details?  And how did the 33 people manage to get together?

One problem I have is that although it's clear that I am one of many people that has been scammed by Worldwide Marketing Solutions Ltd, we're all trying to tackle it as individuals, whereas if we all got together we might carry more clout with the authorities.  At the moment it feels like wading through treacle to get Trading Standards and my credit card company to believe that I am not the only one to have been scammed.

I paid £99 and the activation fee of £20 also and I have generated quite a few new customers, I do understand there maybe businesses who dnt understand how it works, always tell them what keyphrases u want and not what they gonna giv u. even paid for a website and the website department was more helpful than all the ones at customer support. Again am not complaining as I have got my ROI. Cheers guys.

I was called 2 days ago by a Nathan Jones who was very persistent and eventually after me telling him I was putting the phone down managed to convince me he was genuine (how wrong).  He did the same as it seems other people have gone through, searching terms for your business etc... never mentioned £20 admin fee, said someone would be in touch straight away from customer services either Dan or Marvin names mentioned above.

I wasn't contact until today when I received an invoice for £139.83 and the wrong search term and funny the name of the sales person on the invoice is Danny not Nathan??  I have sent an email telling them I am cancelling and want a full refund, their offices are listed as Oldham so only 10 mins away I will call round if I don't hear from them, after contacting the police.

Complete scam merchants, they will promise anything to get a sale and then renege once they get your money.
They also keep debiting your cc for months after even if you cancel according to THEIR dubious t&c.
I am so pissed off with underhand tactics that I placed my own google ad that will appear anytime anyone does a search for them. OK, it costs me money, but its worth it.

Anyone else who's been ripped off by them, please do the same!

I went to their offices in Oldham after having the phone put down on me and met with Dan and someone else.  I told them I wasn't told anything about it being an advert or the £20 admin fee, I was locked out of their offices while they discussed and I was eventually told I would get a full refund, I will see what happens.

It sounded as though there were lots of people in the office and I heard someone answering the phone saying "Hello Google Allocations how can I help" shocking.
