Are you lot stupid. Look at the website www.publicservice.co.uk
Look at the people who write, look at the standard of journalism, look at the effort made to provide and produce decent products for readers and advertisers. Compare it with the other so called competition and make your own mind up. Its light years ahead.
Don't be fooled by small minded people. Look at the products and make your own mind up. You will see its not a scam.

    Professor Swedish university
I have been called repeatedly as an academic in Sweden over 6+ months by PCSA. After three strange initial phone conversations I have not taken their calls. Primarily a woman who called herself Carole. I recognize all the tactics described in previous postings. This Carole woman flattered me a lot, name-dropped senior colleagues at my university she claimed having been collaborating with. She  more or less promised that great funding from EU would be accessible from my unit being published in a catalogue. However, I would have to write text myself and pay some 1000 Euro or so to be published in a simple printed catalogue. She initially kept me on line for perhaps 40 minutes. When I sounded somewhat positive I was told that I had to decide immediately since the person had to go back to a meeting with some very important EU officials.

When the outrageous price was mentioned I became very skeptical and the person turned very pushy. Finally, I hung up and the person immediately called me again repeatedly. When I finally answered the she turned  very accusing and loud and said that I could not accuse them of being intrusive. They have called again and just dont take no for an answer. They also were aggressive, shouted at staff at my office who answered the phone and tried fiercely to be connected to my boss. Very intimidating and rude behaviour after intitial very flattering and manipulative approach - " by the book" it seems.

Scary experience, they almost made me accept.  The also refused to email information! I hade to decide immediately on the phone.

Watch out for any telephone salesperson who behaves similarly!

Got a call on my mobile from this company within minutes of doing an online question form and ignored it and no message was left. When called number back receptionist was very polite but could not tell me what the call was in regards to as there are a number of people in the office and without a name couldn't tell me which "company" had contacted me.

Insulting, threatening, high pressure - typical hard sell telemarketer tactics parading around as a legitimate government-related business.  Don't be fooled by their web site - it's just the lipstick on the pig!

Own a family business in Scotland and London. I have been polluted by calls from PCS etc etc for three years now. When I started the business, I foolishly took out some advertising space with them. Not only did it not earn me a cent, it was pretty crap. I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling me.

I received a call from my father earlier today, who tells me that Public Servant actually want me to speak at a conference. I rang up the guy, an Adam Smith (not the economist surely!) who assures me its not a sales call. 30 minutes later and then he tells me that yes, I can give a presentation, and that would only cost me X Thousand!

I have tried to be polite with this company and it doesnt work. So I would encourage fellow businessmen and women to write to Manchester Trading Standards about their boilerhouse sales pitches. I dont normally advocate swearing at people, but I will be sorely tempted the next time PCS call, which will probably be tomorrow!

After numerous calls from an Adam Smith I decided to 'Google' his number - and look what I found!
I'm delighted to hear I'm not paranoid, it WAS a sales call.
Smith insisting he be put through to our MD but with no info forthcoming from him he wasn't getting near him - he's far too busy for crap like this.
Next time calls I'll tell him we're definitely not interested. Thanks all for the 'heads up'.
BTW we're in Ireland so their net has been cast across the Irish Sea

I have got numerous callers from an Adam Smith looking to speak to our Managing Director, I asked him to send an email with details of what he wanted to speak to him about as he is a very busy man.  He started to get very aggressive saying that he was sick of 'people like me' telling him to email. I explained that unless we had a clear indication of what it is he wanted to speak to him about he wouldn't get through as we get a lot of bogus callers.  he then went on a rant about how dare i suggest he's a bogus caller, he ha a pHD in this, that and the other!! :) I asked him not to speak to me in that tone of voice and he said he would just call and give the business to someone else, when i agreed that he should he then went on another rant and asked me to apologise.

A nasty individual that if he rings me again I will be telling him so and to get lost!

My god, I don't understand how this can ever get any business, for anyone... How can this sort of tactic work? It's absolutely constant, using play-ground tactics that might scare a child but not an adult.

Oh and if you're going to fake posts in support of yourselves, please make them believable. I doubt there's a single degree among any of them let alone a PHD.

I hear Mcdonalds are recruiting. I suggest PSCA give that a go. Scum.

PSCA International are driving me mad - they seem to call every single day, even though I have repeatedly asked them to stop, including following their instructions to get my name removed from their call list. It's getting difficult to be polite and get rid of them evrey day again and again!!!!

Yep, they are at it still.  Have been calling us all week.  Called a colleagues mobile to be told in no uncertain terms that we were not interested.  Then someone else called a another colleague, and she had to put the phone down.  Be aware, number they call from now is 01782 620088...you will be pestered by a Sophie Williams or a Rebecca Jones.  Both must have skins like rhinos.

Now calling from Birmingham too - 0121 456 3336, pretending to offer editorial but having worked in ad sales myself I can spot a sales pitch at 20 paces. I cut 'John' short and got him off the phone in under 2 minutes. Very glad too now I've read all of the posts here.

I'd be interested if this event turned out to be the success that Megan hoped...

We too were involved in a PSCA event last year in Edinburgh and it was mainly because Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish government health secretary was giving a keynote speech and would be there the whole day and that she was personally inviting high level policy makers and infection professionals from around scotland to the event.  Utter bull***t.  I've have never been more disappointed with the calibre of the delegates - most of them were 'Care in the community' nurses and completely the wrong target audience for us.  As for Nicola Sturgeon, she made her 20 minute speech then left.  This 'amazing opportunity' was outrageously expensive.....and I vowed never to deal with PSCA again.  This was also the second time they had 'screwed us over' by inviting us to exhibit at an infection control event in London and promised us exclusivity regarding the products we were selling....Hmm so who were we placed right next door to?  Only one of our biggest competitors that happens to be a global and household name as well as being known in the healthcare sector!  This event also cost us a huge amount of money and we got sweet FA out of it.

We've had repeated calls of late from a Mike Cunningham - I recognised the name of the company when he first called and refused the call...now he's calling and actually lying about the proper company name....PA International we've had, and CA International.....does he think we are stupid?  His tone certainly is patronising in the extreme when you do talk to him.  I keep asking what does PSCA stand for and it's a weary 'it doesn't stand for anything' reply....after reading one of the posts above, now I know why!!!

    Ginge replies to Hannah Berry
PSCA used to stand for 'Public Service Communication Agency'.

They were told by the DTI to change the name because they were deliberately allowing people to believe they were a government agency - which they are most definitely not.

In every organisation you are going to receive complaints. But, for the people who do actually use our services, you can see the success they received. Fair is fair.

The complaints are not about your services, but about your unsolicited and reportedly rude and persistent  phone calls.
To be truly fair you really should be addressing those actual complaints, rather than talking about service levels which the complainants did not wish or use..

I used to work for PSCA international and I can guarantee that the average sales rep in that company makes more than your tinpot companies turns over in a year!! LOL now thats funny!

Secondly there may be haters on this but is that why EDF energy, virgin, BT , Blackberry, Asda, Tesco, Vodaphone, BMW, Jaguer, Nissan etc etc book with PSCA time and time again!
Look at the events archive people over the last 10 years, these are Multi million pound companies and in some cases Billion pound turnover companies who deal with PSCA!

The reason why these tinpot companies are complaining and trust me when I say this because I have seen this with my own eyes is because when they do get involved in the conferences involving key decision makers from the public sector, all they do is sit around expecting the delagtes to approach them, these SME's dont engage the delagets after repeated advice to be proactive on the day. However organisations such as the bigger companies who to be frank do have much better markeitng professionals end up winning colossus contracts from governemnt and in the least makes decisions a lot easier to make for the delgates whren it comes to tenders since they have already met the companies at the conference!

I would also like to add although I agree the sales methodolygy can be a little pushy, when you live in the real world of buisness thats the difference between  sucessful organisations and tinpot companies. Go and ask Alan Sugar, Richard Branson, Bill Gates etc I can assure you now that all the great entrepenuers are shrude ruthless buisness men/women offering real oppurtunites to buisness or customers.
