It is generally accepted round here that Paul is a complete tool.

@ "Insider" - out of interest, if you are a PSCA employee, do many of your colleagues feel bad about what your company's sales people do? Not to imply that all of PSCA's employees are tools, I've only experienced the cold callers, I'm sure there's plenty of office-based staff who are perfectly nice and deplore the methods used as much as the rest of us. Is this page read much around the office?

Thanks for the info though; I don't think anyone thought it was a genuine post. This page is still strong in the google rankings, just thought I'd give it another nudge (every little helps as they say).

Anyway, buyers are often liars but that not as often as sales people in my opinion (I'm in sales myself but we pride ourselves on giving the facts, explaining how we think we're different, and being completely open and reliable about how our services can address the NEEDS of our prospective clients - it works wonders).

Not sure what other offices are like but ours is pretty much just sales people and everyone is just chasing the money. Managers here in manchester acknowledge this site and it defo winds them up which is quite funny. We don't get told not to lie about certain things and there is a guy who is responsible for sales compliance now but he used to be a dodgy salesperson himself so no-one is fooled that Gordon is serious.

Used to work for this company and yes, most staff deplore the way sales is conducted. I've heard sales pitches (they're all recorded), and some of the lies are staggering. Always saying they're just about to "nip into a meeting with [government person X,Y or Z]" when of course they're not, or pass the phone on to some other sales person who says they're the "group editor" and confirms that Minister Y is writing, when he isn't (they do this, obviously, for the sake of their own commission - which is massive). A lot of hard work goes into making the products, but they're undermined by the [***] lies that mean advertisers don't get what they pay for. For what it's worth, Gordon is hated by almost every member of non-sales staff. He's a vile creature who wanders about effing and blinding, laughing at his own crap and nasty jokes and generally plays the knobhead - sales managers and some of the sales moron employed by the company love it. There are decent salesmen there too, but few and far between. Always recruiting for new sales staff given that many come and go as they can't handle the pressure of working under the yoke of Gordon and his gang of bullies.

Oh, and of course Gordon and other directors are aware of these pages – which have sadly dipped into a pointscoring exercise between PSCA and rival companies, overshadowing real complaints by real people – and there's a very simple solution: they'll just change either the name of the company or the telephone numbers.

Oh, Gordon, if you're reading this: you look like a stupid budgie and I sincerely hope your enterprise backfires spectacularly.

I can assure folk that my company was bombarded by these fools even after Gordon Warrender had provided numerous assurances that we would be removed from their call lists.  The other poster who described him as 'vile' sums up my thoughts.

I also had the pleasure of speaking with one of his ignorant fellow directors, a Wendy Wood, who was so dim it was both embarassing and entertaining at the same time.  I could post some of her e-mail but, essentially, she made clear that PSCA sent out hundreds of thousands of e-mails and made tens of thousands of calls so there was bound to be some unhappy recipients.  It seemed to bypass her completely that there was a clear disconnect between the level of activity and the company's pitiful turnover.  If PSCA had something decent to offer, there would be repeat business and an order would be the natural (and regular) consequence of the sales activity since both parties would benefit.

Beware.

I remember Wendy Wood actually seemed like a nice woman, BIG unit tho. As far as comments on this thread have gone i agree with many. GW is indeed Gordon Warrender an amusing little man with a slightly high opinion of himself. PSCA themselves are a small company based in Newcastle Under Lyme. They have a back office or (publishing team) of around 5 and are entireley made up of sales monkeys. They have absolutely no affiliation with any Government departments neither do "Key Decision Makers" contribute or even read their documents or visit their website. I did work there for a time and for a while truly believed that this product was great for businesses until i realised that it was essentially worthless. Their "EDITORS" were blokes that used to sell well and writers were students from staffs uni earning just over 30 quid per article(sometimes whilst posing as an official government rep) I at this point left the company as the pressure to verbally beat people into submission was far too great. I can only advise that anybody take a very wide berth of this company. If you want to supply the Public sector then submit a tender like other companies do. I guarantee this would be better than a 5k page in a magazine nobody reads.

By the way, the company now goes by the name publicservice.co.uk Ltd, making it much harder for complaint pages to be found (Googling 'PSCA' would bring up 'PSCA complaints' as a suggestion and complaint pages on the first page of results).

And now they've changed their numbers, they will be calling people on the black list from previous numbers, especially as their call introduction has changed from "PSCA" to 'publicservice.co.uk'.
