    Greetings

To begin I would like to take this opportunity to stress my frustration with your message. To rectify your incorrect and insulting opinions I would like to draw your attention to the following link:

    http://www.adamlilith.net/adam/cv/cv.pdf

The link above will take you to a pdf file highlighting exactly what I have been involved in over the previous 20 years. I have aquired a Phd in Energy and Resources. from the Energy and Resources Group, University of California, in Berkeley in 2009. If you do have time please read my thesis on "Facets of biological conservation".

Now that I have cleared any misconceptions relating to my credibilty I would also stress that on the subjects relating to renewable energy, sustainable devlopment and issue surrounding green technologies I and my team are experts. This is soley the reason why we produce information for the use of key government deparments searching for solution providers and provide private industries the perfect platform to propagate their technologies in a professional and well constructed series of high calibre conferences. If this was not the case then the likes of justine greening, theresa may, Rob coleman and dozens of other central govt. officials would never use this conference to outline budgets, targets and timelines to an audience of hundreds of key decision makers within the public sector.

To reinforce my above statment I would advise anyone who has any doubts to see the events archive on www.publicserviceevents.co.uk and just have a look at the governemnt speakers who have attended in the past and who we have shaken hands with, and finally the companies they have formed a pertnership with as a direct result of the platforms we provide

P.S. I think our team would be far to over qualified for macdonalds but thankyou for the tip but may be better suited to your staff when your TINPOT organizations hit rock bottom.

    Kind regards

It seems like we are starting a debate here.. Which is not very professional from ANY ONES point of view. At the end of the day, we have a job to do, we have deadlines we have to meet (which is where the "pushy" sales comes into account). Yes, I work for PSCA and to be honest I have worked in sales my whole life. PSCA's sales structure is not setup for us to sound pushy.. Unfortunately, we are just to the point. We have companies calling in asking to profile their companies in our documents and we turn them away- yes, we actually turn down potential revenue because they are not relevant to that specific issue. We have a reputation to uphold - not only for companies in the private sector but for the public sector too. Those that have used our services have been more than happy. Sometimes you need to take the gamble as such and I can guarantee that you will reap the rewards.

More propaganda - uninspiring and designed to fill the page so people don't read the previous comments.

I urge you to read the first few pages too, it only takes 20 minutes. These people are in it for the hard sell, and the attitude is outlined perfectly by the "tinpot companies" reference which is both ignorant, and childish.

Anyone can "hard sell" - it's not difficult, you just work on the law of averages - that eventually, someone will be weak enough to back down just to get you off the phone. That doesn't make you a good sales person, and nor does the massive salary. If your conscience is clear then fair enough, but those of us with an ounce of morality realise that good sales is about providing for, and protecting your customer as opposed to "get the money and run" tactics.

Whether you admit it or not, the attitude is absolutely horrendous and disgusting, and the overwhelming opinion is that nobody wants to do business with you based on your telesales approach.

Oh and the PHD guy above? I sincerely doubt he's actually legit, and if he is I doubt he's sitting hammering the phones for PSCA.

    Again, avoid like the plague.

Defensive - I have worked at PSCA for years and cannot recall a single occasion when a company rang in asking to buy space in the documents. As our Chief Executive would tell you - "no-one ever rings in asking to buy it - we have to sell it!".

And the whole routine about working to tight deadlines is contrived to put the prospect under pressure to make a decision. You tell the prospect you have two pages left etc and that there is a meeting going on with government people but you and I both know that is a lie designed to make the prospect feel important and compelled to buy.

The only meetings ever going on are amongst sales people and sales managers. Not one government official has ever been in the office at they never will.

Hi GW can you tell Marcia Bissett to stop calling, she won't listen to us. I assume from your post that you will know her.

Incidently, there is a huge difference between being 'legitimate' and being 'opportunist', 'pushy', 'annoying' etc. if you want to push your services try advertising that way people can choose whether or not they want to use your service. Do you think we are sitting here thinking ' i've got a few grand spare, if only some magazine would call me out of the blue'?

I am glad to see you are using present tense.. You either need to study your grammar, or look for a new job.

    Defensive (Paul C?)

I am quite happy with my use of tense and understanding of grammar.

I am also quite happy to continue nodding my head and looking like I care becasue I have a family to look after. We all make compromises and mine is to wait until I find something better.

Maybe if my best man was a CEO he could give me a plum job which I was cr*p at too.

Let me add a little slice of reality....
I'm the CEO of a small(ish) business in the US  (not a former employee). I got a call a couple of days ago from a "Clarissa McInnis".  In retrospect, I should have realized that it was a scam long before I did. The conversation lasted much too long, and she was remarkably ignorant of the subject matter..

What tipped me off at first was that she wanted money to place and article in a publication. What kind of a publication bases it's decision on what to publish based on who pays them?

As the conversation went on, the pressure began to build. When I told her that I was simply not going to pay her until I has spoken to my team, she said "...so you are making a decision not to participate". It was a line worthy of the slimiest salesperson and a true button pusher for me.  It was at that moment that I realized that I was wasting time that I didn't have and terminated the discussion.

I have been marvelling at it ever since. PSCA is a true scam and only a small step above the Nigerian 409.

    Hi Boys and girls
Cheer up they have traced my down starting with a spanish phone number and then used the birmingham one.

    Here is the event
    http://www.publicserviceevents.co.uk/event/venue.asp?ID=158

Happening on the 6th of October at the barbican London

    Next, check the barbican website
    http://www.barbican.org.uk/general/event-cale ... 10&yr=2010&dy=6

Is the vent planned on the barbican website??? Hold your breath.....
No it Isn t (Quelle surprise!!!)

Am i going to spend 8.5k +vat on an exhibition in that type of room?
NEVER (It s probably twice the cost of renting the place and for that price I ' d expect champagne flowing a jacuzzi filled with Swedish Girls in every corner and an Aston Martin to bring me back home)
On the positive side, I have the name of the people that can be interresting for my business so I ll just get in touch via linkedin and off we go :-)

    Cost of the operation  17.99 (internet) / 31 (number of days in a month)  / 24= 2.4pence

(I wont get the champagne though)

I m lucky I have the luxury to talk to them on the phone and make them believe, so this time they will be pissed off when I tell them 2 weeks before the event that it ain t gonna happen :-)
    Revenge is sweet

I think Sainsburys have some champagne on offer at the moment - spend a few quid there and your event is complete! Not sure about the Swedish girls and the Aston Martin - you could get some Dudley girls and a Nissan Micra easily enough though. (Kidding, no sexism intended!)

I love that our conversations have not only served to continue exposing these frauds and piss-poor exuses for sales people (I work in sales and haven't had a single complaint against me in my time, not one, quite proud of that - how? CUSTOMER SERVICE. Selling to NEEDS.)

Also when you google PSCA international, this board is still in 8th position so anyone googling them should hopefully get a decent warning.

    The top link is this:
    http://www.publicservice.co.uk/

A bit misleading considering they've had a bollocking before for masquerading as being government related??

If they were public facing they'd have been on Watchdog by now. Plese continue to put the word out ladies n gents, these guys are cowboys of the highest order. They're like the benefit cheats of the business world. Avoid.

In fact, does anyone know who to report them to at BIS? They're clearly in breach of the exact same thing again, their site is CLEARLY geared towards looking like they have government links which is laughable at best. Plus I'd be concerned that any of our friends from across the pond looking them up would associate them with our government (It's bad enough that we've got a prime minister who thinks the USA were in WW2 in 1940).

if GW is the owner he needs to take note about the amount of complaints his organisation is receiving I know a lot of these are ex employees, however a lot are genuine complaints by companies, all the following telephone numbers have complaints against PSCA/Public Service 0161 832 7387, 01782 620088, 0121 456 3336, 0131 555 3970, & 01782 667340. GW train your staff correctly and you would'nt get these problems.

It's an advertising pitch of the most devious kind.

I too have recieved a few calls from PSCA and as the Sales Director of a large company it is clear that their sales approach is a very well known and widely used sales approach which is based around the impulse to buy.  The reason I know this is because my sales team uses a similiar approach with great success.   The people complaining on here should really request training from their employers on how to deal with sales calls,  how to recognise known types of sales tactics and how to get the best deals from the person calling.

Personally I did not buy anything from PSCA and the sales person was very persistant, pushy and has obviously been trained in objection handling because whatever I threw at them they had an answer for.

I actually know one of the companies listed on their website as a sponsor and having spoken to him, he said the event was good, not quite what was promised, but worth while.  So if you are reading this PSCA - lower your prices to something more realistic I would work with you - but send me an email do not call me again and take an hour out of my day.

Peter I think you will have a long wait for an email, its not PSCA's way of doing business saleman are trained to get the business on the day or take it away.

    Matt replies to Peter Chandler
Hi Peter - thanks for your input. I appreciate your opinion absolutely, but with all due respect, I am more than au fait with objection handling of all kinds, as are our staff.

We deal with sales calls day in day out - there is a huge thick line between persistance and selling to impulse on a short time scale, and the horrendously insulting, obnoxious, and arrogant approach employed by the apparent majority of PSCA's staff.

I had another call from them recently and the guy, although lying through his teeth, was actually quite polite which was a nice change. He still didn't get past the front gate though.
