called back after getting blank calls from this no. up to three times a day....pre recorded message saying its a partner of BT go to the BT website or call a premium rate number to be taken off the list.

I have never had anything to do with BT

Hi,i had a call this morning from this number,said they where calling on behalf of bt i told her that i was not a BT customer and it was asked why she had called,she told me that this was a BT  number she was calling.told it was not but she insisted it was,i have not had a bt number for over 20 years.I got from her that she was calling to save me money on broadband and line rental,told her to stop calling me,she said we will call when we want,i told her i owe bt nothing and i was instructing her to stop the calls,i would say who calls me not her or anyone she works for,i then gave her a piece of mind and left her with flea in her ear.I know for certain the 01709 is the code for Rotherham in South Yorkshire as i live there.

Recieved 2 calls in 2 days from this number, very glad i decided to google it as i intend to try the hash key trick next time fingers crossed that it works. sorry it's happening but glad that i'm not the only one. thanx

Got a call from 01709764400 around 12.15, answered said hello and straight away they hung up. It sounded like it was a callcentre environment with the amount of noise in the background.

Get loads of calls from this number. They did leave a recorded message once about having something to do with BT, of which I am not a customer.

am no longer with BT but was at first. ie now with sky but BT still provides the landline.

also are they someone like 'plusnet' based  in the North?

As far as i am concerned there is only 1 way to STOP these unwanted calls from anyone ringing you up and trying to CON you all into buying something that you dont need.

I always say this...(I am sorry but this is an old peoples home for the elderly i think that you have got the wrong number and i am the manager in charge until the night manager arrives)

The above works every time no matter who is ringing you up!

A man with an English accent phoned me from this number and addressed me by my surname, when I confirmed he hung up. On reading others' experiences on this site it looks like this phone number has been a nuisance for years?

We have been getting calls from this number for several days. Our answering machine has taken the calls. They don't usually say anything, but today, a man's voice said 'hello'. I was thinking that it must be something important, until I read everyone's comments, here - thanks.

Keep getting calls from this number but don't answer as don't know the number sometimes calls about 4 times a day good job for caller Id

got several calls from this number over past few days so contacted BT directly and they deny all knowlegde and also say because i am not a BT customer they cannot do anything anyway. So what is the point in BT having a complaints line just for BT customers?????, another marketing ploy me thinks.I have told BT i am actively seeking legal advice and they will be implicated also, so maybe they will finally listen and do something. Failing that i have no quarms in making a trip to rotherham and sorting it personally!!!!!!!

I've had this no call around 6 times every day for the past 4 days. I thought it was important call because of the number of times they have called. Glad i read all these posts and will try all the tips mentioned here as BTW themselves are useless when it comes to customer complaints. thanks for all who have provided tips! And merry xmas to all! Didn't get to the phone in time so dialled 1471 to see who rang, and got this number.  I recognised the Rochdale code but it's not the people I know, so I googled it and found all these comments.  Glad I didn't pick up!  What annoys me is, even when you're ex-directory, the likes of BT seem to think it's OK to use your number for telesales just because they happen to have/know it.

These people kepp calling saying that they want to talk to you regarding your BT line account. We don't have ours with BT. So I knew ASAP it was dodgy.

They call every day and our number is isn't listed public so god knows how they have our number. Does anyone know how to block a number from a landline?

Received a call from 01709764400 when I was out. Dialled 1471 to get the number. I rang the number 01709 764400 and got a recorded message from BT stating the call was from TSC a partner of BT. A list of BT partners can be found on the BT website at http://www.bt.com/partners.  It may be possible to have your number removed from their calling list by calling BT on 0800 028 2272. The number can be barred if you have a call barring service setup with your telephone service provider, such as Sky.
