Been calling my parents for a while now asking for my father, when I say he is in work they say they'll call back again, I've asked who's calling and they hang up, but sometimes they phone a few times a day! They've just phoned again but there was no answer when I picked up, glad I researched this number and can now see about blocking it/reporting it!

I understand that BT have authorised calls from your “specialist partners“ as listed on http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consume ... n_FURL_partners

I do not wish to receive these intrusive and unwarranted phone calls on the above number.

The number is ex-directory and registered with TPS and FPS and I am outraged that by passing my number to these parasitic organisations you have chosen to ignore my strict instructions.

Section 11 of the Data Protection Act states the following:

(1)   An individual is entitled at any time by notice in writing to a data controller to require the data controller at the end of such time as is reasonable in the circumstances to cease, or not to begin, processing for the purposes of direct marketing personal data in respect of which he is the data subject.

(2)   If the Court is satisfied on the application of any person who has given a notice under subsection (1), that the data controller has failed to comply with the notice, the court may order him to take such steps for complying with the notice as the court thinks fit.

(3)   In this section “direct marketing” means the communication (by whatever means) of any advertising or marketing material which is directed to particular individuals.

I therefore require that at the earliest available opportunity personal data relating to me is suppressed for the purposes of direct marketing, and a record of this legal objection is retained for the purposes of ensuring that no further direct marketing is initiated to me at any future point unless I explicitly consent to such processing.

A copy of this notification is being retained and may be used in evidence against you.

A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS NOTICE MAY RESULT IN LEGAL ACTION BEING TAKEN AGAINST YOU IN A COURT OF LAW.

Please reply to this letter with a detailed breakdown of the actions you have taken to prevent any recurrence.

receiving calls from this number every day....Grrrrrr

You can make life a little more expensive for these callers. Just pick up the receiver but don't say anything. Leave the receiver on the side. The caller will wait a few minutes and will then hang up. You can then replace the receiver. Assuming that they are making hundreds of calls every week or month, this will be an expensive excercise for the caller as BT will charge them for every call that is connected plus the connection fee for each call !

I currently work for TSC on the BT campaign and can assure customers this is a legitimate company that works ON BEHALF of BT providing BT with help to there customer for the BT offers available to them.

HeroTSC is a Rotherham based company that is a partner of BT.

Also the TPS does not stop calls when a company has a relationship with with the customer

I've just had one of these at 14:15 today. Wouldn't mind, but it woke my baby up who was sleeping in the same room as a phone (my own fault for leaving the phone in there!). I answered 'hello' but the call disconnected then.

If I get them again, I might just entertain myself by giving obvious bogus details given what I've heard above... "BT? Yes, please I'd like broadband... my name is Mick E Mouse... Can I pay more than that; your offers sounds too cheap!"

The company already have your details so the Mickey Mouse thing wouldnt work nor would it get you anywher

Also the people phoning dont know your daughters alseep the best thing to do is say can you take my number of your calling list.

Also the person who said just put the phone on the side that would do nothing but give an agent some time off the phone and get you a call back in 2 weeks.

I recieved a call from this number when I was out.  They said they were bt/partners.  They DID leave a mesage telling me I 'MAY'' be able to stop these calls by phoning 0800028227.  I submitted the number to SAYNOTO0870 and was diected to this site.  I won't be calling them back!  I strongly recommend BT's caller display service.  I do not answer calls from "Not available" and keep a list of other nuisance callers so I can ignore them.

At 20::02 i had the phone in my bloody hand, it rang once and stopped.

this is who they are, and they are a right pain in the butt!!...

What sort of legitimate company working for BT would hang up every time one answers the phone ? They've called twice today ..each time I answer they hang up. Surprise surprise when I call back there is nobody to answer. Shame that as I was equipped with a very high pitched whistle and was hoping to burst some [***] eardrums.

I had a missed call but they left no message. I too have subscribed to TPS

pain in the butt,OH answered today they asked for him  and he said he don't live here, doubt if it'll put em off ringing again.

Got several phone calls over several days from them (without answering) at the end of April 2011.  Checked online who they might be and lots of people seemed to think they were dodgy.  I stored them in my phone memory as "BT Scam".  As I quite rightly thought they would not stop calling until I spoke to them, the next time they called I answered.

The chap said that he was calling on behalf of BT and was offering us to change our BT package to a supposedly better one.  He just went on to say that if I confirmed some detail to him, it would be done straightaway.  I had to say "hold on, a minute, I have not agreed to anything".

I asked him to confirm that he was calling from BT, and he answered that it was on behalf of BT.  I said to him either you are BT or you are not - you cannot be "on behalf of".  In any event, I called his bluff and said that if he had permission from BT to call us, then he would know that 2 days previously we had changed our BT package (not true) and therefore wouldn't be calling us today.  He then proceeded to say: "oh well, it happens all the time" and put the phone down.  Don't think they will be calling us again any time soon.....!!
