Got a couple of calls from this number one i picked up on 1472 and another tonight which my wife took caller asked for me by name and wouldnt tell my wife what its about, this has upset her and these tpye of calls need to be stopped

I have a received a phone call from this number this morning (01709764400). Caller whats to know all my details about my broadband yet at the same time claims to be calling from BT. I suspect that BT is selling names and numbers to third party tele-sales companies, something that they shouldn't do without my express permission. We live in a spiv culture where companies big and small are out to make a fast buck and customer care is a joke.

Just started getting calls today. 3 of them - they always leave a message - 3 seconds of background noise. I've put the number on my list. It's already got 23 other annoying numbers on it.

Number zapped by truecall, these clowns will never get through, and have reported them to Ofcom and given them the details of the caller, date and time, mugs!

Got a call from this number who asked for me but slightly wrong name. I said there was no one by that name here, thinking if it was a genuine call they would make the effort to get hold of the right person but the caller just said sorry and hung up. Thanks to those who found out it wasn't really a genuine call.

to all you idiots tps ex directory etc . ex directory pmsl companies dont use phone books in 1980 they did wake up look at the date on ur pc its 2012....u accept terms and conditions everywhere no need to opt in or out its in the terms that u will accept marketing calls. this will automatically will override any tps and guess what if u told that company in say may that u want to opt out and in example go to a comparison site accepting terms and conditions being careful not to accept marketing unlucky to get the quote u already have accepted marketing calls. this info is then sold and the company you told in may say gets new data in july and ur number is on it u wil get called as u accepted this pmsl ....also i would call u if i wanted it pmsl are u psychic or a geek that looks every hour for new deals ....come on how do you know whats on offer unless someone tells u . most major companies outsource to marketing companies and only have minor details on the screen not billing info, account numbers,birth date etc due to data protection. once the info is captured it leaves the marketing company and goes to eg bt.... wot idiots u all r

Had a few missed calls form this number, decided to answer as I love winding scammers up on the phone. Caller asked for the bill payer, I said bill payer of what? He said phone, I asked who he was calling from. He said I see you have been with BT, I said no I am with (competitor) he then started rattling off about them renting line off BT so would be cheaper to go to BT, was trying to interrupt to say I have never been a BT customer, anyway when I finally got a word in after prattling on about half price line rental I got to inform him I am actually in contract with my current supplier for another year, he got funny with me like I had wasted his time and hung up. For all of you who don't answer these calls, what I do is challenge who they are from, give them a made up name and string them along, keep doing this they give up calling, I did this to the microsoft scammers, just contradicted everything they said, from who my ISP was to the point of telling them I had an iMac the calls soon stopped.

there poaching BAST****   TRYING TO GET CABLE PEOPLE TO SWITCH TO BT    pmsl isnt that what all the cable companies did and virgin still does in the same way poach of bt .....

BTW it is not BT selling the number as I am not and have never been a BT customer. But something interesting I have found out, if soemone works for say an ISP, they can access details that tell you what ISP customers are with, if these companies have unscrupulous employees then there is not a lot you can do, but to be fair these companies do do their best to stop this happening. Also they could get your details from something as simple as placing a mail order and not opting out of the terms and conditions (although this can be confusing, some companies ask you to tick to opt out, some ask you to tick to opt in so always read carefully) Or it could simply be an automatic dialler, even TPS can't guard against this, this is where a computer system dials all combinations of telephone numbers, the chances are it will hit on a real number. This is why I have caller ID, so I can decide whether to ignore these calls or have a little fun wasting their time like they are wasting mine.

ever heard the expression cutting nose off to spite face ......well lets assume u was in a contract and bt was prepared to buy u out ov it plus a cheaper deal and unless u lived in hull or was on cable then u would already be using bt's infrastructure so whos the real idiot ......the clever thing to do would be honest and push yorself to get the best deal you could with the maximum of freebies in the deal ....o i forgot your the kind ov person who loves cutting ones nose off etc pmsl

you have no idea .... u dont need to tick or untick at times as its in the terms .... its an automatic dialler system in place . no luck it knows ur name address and number through your own stupid fault not reading small print even as far back as 20 years as permission is permission. it will dial and dial til u answer and if u give the sales agent a hard time they will just put it down for another call back . if nice to them they can put down opt out not interested etc . when they ask for sum1 on ur number its just the person who once had ur number a long time ago maybe. or even that person mis keyed urs by mistake pms

Keep a whistle by the phone, so as when you receive these calls as I just have you give them a BLAST!!!

I've had several calls from this number in the past few days.  When I've answered the phone, its just gone dead.  A very annoying waste of time.

computerised dialler u idiots . if no agent available then u wont hear any1 on the other end ... waste ov time pmsl get rid ov land line get a mobile ....a smart 1 that u can block numbers urself from and wooo hooo u can be busy wi borin life

so why do that most agents are in there early 20s . what else are they suppose to do as a job ... prob ur lot the pensioners of today destroyed this country strike . selling everything off ...going into europe ...yts schemes ....why not talk to them they are after all human trying to earn a living not con people the dont get anything out of it by lying on phones as calls are recorded and listend into both by bt and herotsc. why would they want the sack? most are happy to recieve the £7.18 per hour for unsociable hours
