phoned at 7pm yesterday.   said he was called Sean and was calling on behalf of BT.   that alerted me immediately as he obviously was phoning from a call centre.   I have asked BT not to phone on any occasion except an emergency to do with my phone line.   I put the phone down immediately.

Keep getting calls from this number and then phone goes dead.  Sounds like it is another BT scam like the email telling you that you hav overused your broadband usage!

I think Benito works for HeroTSC. And fair play he is 100% bang you clueless reprobates obviously don't know how things work and definitely don't read through the rest of the pages before posting. MOAN MOAN MOAN that's all people love to do. It is TSC and they are contracted by BT to phone there "Nice" customers and people who arnt with them to get them on BB deals and it works and makes them millions.

Deal with it.

Unfortunately if you read the small print in your BT contract by default you give them permission to pass your phone number and anme onto third parties. This does not viloate TPS regulations because you have given them permission to call you via BT

Apparently "on behalf of BT" so obviously a call centre.  I now keep my answerphone on permanently to screen calls so I don't have to deal with these nuisance calls.

So if they're honest agents, why do they NEVER leave a message and contact details, so we can get back to them? If they were so GENUINE and REALLY interested in offering us a legitimate service, why do they pass up the chance to get extra customers?

WHY do they only want to talk directly? I'll tell you why, to try and fast-talk people, confuse them and con them into giving personal information. I've had it happen to me before, which is why I now let all calls go direct to answerphone.

I WOULD URGE ANYONE GETTING THESE DODGY CALLS TO LET THEM ALL GO STRAIGHT TO ANSWERPHONE! DON'T GIVE THESE CON-ARTISTS THE TIME OF DAY!

Had 2 calls from this number in the last few days. On the first occasion the message was unintelligible, lots of static and background noise. Heard a woman's voice briefly shout something - couldn't make out what. Deleted the message as usual.

I'm guessing you do as well. If so I hope you don't use that kind of language on the phone...might cost you a few "victims".

Not knowing how the phone scam industry works doesn't make us "clueless reprobates". While you may work in the industry or not mind getting lots of spam phone messages, has it ever occurred to you most people don't take kindly to it?

Spam calling is the phone industry equivalent of being a traffic warden or wheel clamper...everyone hates them!

Calls and does not answer when I pick up. Does not leave message

Being pestered by this number. When phone is answered it is silent. Now giving up answering house phone as its constant telemarketing. If someone needs to talk to me they ring my mobile. Why cant we stop it.

I got a call yesterday, asking for me, said they were BT then when I said my husband pays the bills he refused to speak to me, got incredibly rude and lippy when I tried to politely tell him that ringing my hubby wouldnt get him anywhere, referred to him as the 'billpayer in the sky' and I ended up hanging up on him. I was livid! You cant ring them back either! My friend works at BT and she's never heard of the number.

Thank you all for leaving your messages. I was out and came back to a missed call, with no message left. As I am ex directory and a TPS customer I'm not sure how they got my number either, but as I have telephone number block facility with Bt . I will block that number from coming thru to me

1471 showed this number, not funny when you've stopped what you're doing and struggled out of wellies, got to the phone and it stops.

Just had a call from them now, but didn't pick up. No message left. I also believe they phoned yesterday.

There seems to be some conflicting comments on here, is this company genuinely working on behalf of BT or not?

A second call from them today - I didn't know it was the same number (don't have display on phone)
A woman, knowing my name, said BT and wanting to help me get the best from my account. At the time I belived her and said I'd just changed to another company.  She 'checked' and agreed with me!  End of call, but my suspicions about her non-BT /  unprofessional manner made me check 1471.
Then I felt a bit silly for engaging with her....

Could BT actually comment on this???

I recieved a call from HEROtsc today (11/04/2012) at 18:43. A woman by the name of Stacey introduced herself and ask for me by name. I will summerise the content of our discussion about upgrading my contract what is due to expire to BT Infinity Option 2. Read as follow:

1: I did challenge the agent about the name of her employer and of which I informed her that I'm already aware of HEROtsc. It was fairly easy to force her to admit that in fact her employer was HEROtsc so there's no point in claiming to be calling on behalf of BT. She did mention that due to initial agreements I made when I first became a BT customer that I gave permission for third party sub-contractors to call me on BT's behalf.

2: Despite the uncertainty and reluctance to hand any identifiable information over I discussed BT Infinity Option 2 with Stacey for at least 10 minutes. In which she explained the right to cancel, the monthly charges and P&P charge for the new hub. She didn't request for any other information.

Anyway HEROtsc is contracted by name of the big names to drive sales and to the customer service that they simple might not have. It makes sense to contract out 600 employees rather then retrain or recruit 600 of your own.

The only concern I have is that Stacey might have misunderstood the spelling of my email address. I'm still waiting to get am email with the VOL. If I don't recieve it by tomorrow I'll chase up BT customer service, which I don't think even exists.
