- viv replies to ThunderBird 4| 10 repliesHardly, just correcting your assumption - that's all.
- ThunderBird 4 replies to viv| 9 repliesOh so you know bob then? I would have thought he would have answered himself, or is this another of bobs names now?
- Denzil replies to ThunderBird 4I think Bob works for Ultralase and that's why he was so offended.
Bob your company have been spamming people with laser eye surgery offers, I think it's time you had a look in the mirror and question your morals and ethics. Ultralase and Optimax are awful - RingARoses replies to bobYou are correct boab, it should be watchdog@bbc.co.uk. As many Optimax patients will be able to vouch for, the so-called freedom from glasses in some cases leaves people needing up to 6 different pairs of glasses and unable to read computer forums without the right pair, thus please excuse my spelling mistakes in my post.
We could do with your support Bob, email watchdog and tell them about your problems you have with Ultralase and Optimax. If you are an employee blow your whistle if you know of any wrongdoing from within. - viv replies to ThunderBird 4| 7 repliesDo I? Is this not just another one of your assumptions? I can't answer for bob and equally I have no interest for whatever information you are able to process,.I also have no need to use any name other than my own. Have I successfully answered your questions now?
- JellyBelly replies to vivOptimax email spam: prizeland.co.uk £500 off and 'free' consultation. Judging by the above I can assume that I have unwittingly signed up for email spam but it won't allow me to unsub myself, it will only trigger an automated process to let the spammers know my email address is one in use thus increasing it's value and this increasing the level of spam received for similar offers + debt + payday loans.
If you get one, do as I did, reported to the ICO. Enough complaints and we can stop the spam that way. - ThunderBird 4 replies to viv| 5 repliesWell only in confirming that you are indeed bob. Not to worry he has other names in here, as I am sure most regular users know
As for not answering for bob, Er you have done. Think he needs to grow a set and help RingaRoses. - Jeeves replies to ThunderBird 4| 4 repliesSorry, but the person who uses existing posters' names, including mine, is known as Fake Tam. He uses the names "bob", "tam" and "Jeeves" as well as others. The thing that distinguishes his posts is that he is illiterate and his "advice" is usually unhelpfull. The post on here may have came from "bob" as that person can be a little brusque, but it is too literate for "Fake Tam".
- ThunderBird 4 replies to Jeeves| 3 repliesDont excatley know whos post you are reffering to, but why would anybody ridicule another for not being unable to spell? Ok some mistakes were made in the post on the email address but it was corrected when pointed out or maybe it was a typing error. Either way bob seems to take an unhealthy intrest in peaples spelling, why is this?
As for using other peaples names.....is there some rule i dont know about that it is forbidden to use a anyones name that is in use already? Anyway life is to short to worry about such trivial matters - bob replies to ThunderBird 4I am content to draw attention to spelling when it serves to distinguish a real from a fake poster.
- viv replies to ThunderBird 4| 1 replyYeah - life is too short to worry about such trivial matters....it's easy to say that now you have been proved wrong by a few people. You know the saying about assumptions? Classic case here. Bye!

Good advice, let's pull together as one and rid the world of spam! - Jan Fearnley's Story replies to Optimax & Ultralase BBC Watchdog Exposéhttp://www.lasereyenightmare.com/learn-from-my-experience/
Learn from my experience…don’t let this happen to you!
Having lasik eye surgery from a negligent surgeon at Ultralase is the biggest regret of my life. Not only has it left my eye permanently scarred, and my vision permanently affected, the disgraceful behaviour of the eye surgeon and Ultralase has left me unable to trust any healthworker. Ultralase knew exactly what he’d done to me. They claim to be highly trained professionals. So professional indeed that they decided to cover up the truth for nine months. The surgeon who my ‘care’ was dumped upon, who to this day can be seen beaming benevolently from Ultralase’s glossy catalogue knew the truth too. He decided to lie to me too. Do not believe that Ultralase will put your care first. They care about protecting themselves, and making lots of money.
It’s too late for me. But if I can pass on what I’ve learnt from this to help prevent this happening to anyone else, at least some positives will emerge from my horrific experience.
Here are my top tips for those considering laser eye surgery:
1
Find out exactly WHO you are dealing with.
Ask if the surgeon treating you is FREELANCE or EMPLOYED by the company.
Remember: I paid my money to Ultralase, had my treatment at Ultralase’s Guildford clinic and was told my surgeon was an Ultralase surgeon.
But when everything went wrong – Eleftheriadis was found guilty of 11 counts of misconduct by the GMC – ULTRALASE DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY.
Eleftheriadis was “FREELANCE” – and I was left high and dry, unable to see and completely on my own.
(An Ultralase representative was present throughout Eleftheriadis’ Fitness to Practise GMC hearing – even though it was ‘nothing to do with them.’ Funny, that.)
2
Research your surgeon thoroughly.
Don’t accept what the laser-providers say on their shiny websites. For example, Ultralase don’t tell potential clients that Eleftheriadis has been found guilty of misconduct. But it’s there, on the web:
http://webcache.gmc-uk.org/minutesfiles/3654.HTML
Look at forums. Check out reviews. Get the information. Your eyes are important!
Note: I have attempted to post a review of Haralabos Eleftheriadis and Ultralase on a few “independent” websites. My comments have been declined due to worries about threats of legal action from the big companies, and worries about the withdrawal of advertising and sponsorship from ahem, the big laser op companies…
3
If a laser eye surgery provider makes a big deal of a surgeon’s connections to a reputable eye hospital, eg Moorfields, check it out. Satisfy yourself that it’s true.
He or she might just have been a cleaner there! Or only there on a one-day course, for all you know! If they’re so great, why aren’t they working full-time at the best eye hospitals?
4
Don’t ever let yourself be bullied into accepting treatment from a ‘substitute’ surgeon at the last moment. Ultralase have a history of sending their surgeons to different clinics around the country. It’s all about MONEY.
It is a great source of worry to me that some surgeons flit about the country from clinic to clinic, greedily performing a conveyor belt of surgeries and then taking off. Tired people in a rush MAKE MISTAKES.
And what if something goes wrong?
Your surgeon will have disappeared, your money will be in somebody else’s pocket and your ‘aftercare’ will be dumped onto somebody else. This is NOT good continuity of care. Even my cats see the same vet every time they need treatment!
Again, look at the forums, find out about your surgeon. Is he/she based at your clinic or is he/she dashing in from elsewhere?
5
Dig deep to find out about your surgeon’s success and complication rates.
I was refused this information by Ultralase, despite asking many times. They simply ignored my pleas.
Don’t allow them to fob you off. Accept nothing less than the truth. You may need to search about for it.
It makes me sick to think how many people have been unwittingly undergoing surgery for many years from someone who was deemed reckless and negligent – to a criminal standard, which is how the GMC has to judge issues – all because the shocking truth had been covered up. Dig deep for the truth! Ask outright if your prospective surgeon has ever been done for misconduct. And then check to see if they’re lying or not. It’s your body, and your right to know.
6.
Keep a note of everything. I truly hope you will never have cause to need them, but do it anyway. My surgeon didn’t keep records. The sheer arrogance and hubris of this attitude still makes me angry to this day. I kept better notes than he did. Do a blog, keep a diary, or a notebook. And may you never have cause to need it in court.
7.
Night vision. I was told, during my pre-op assessment, that laser eye surgery would vastly improve my night (driving) vision. The optometrist and my hubby even had a little sexist joke about it. It was a LIE. They say this to entice people into surgery. Check it out for yourself.
8.
This one is purely my personal opinion, based on the horror that happened to me. I can’t take any responsibility for it other than tell you how I wish I’d acted then. It’s not scientific advice, and should in no way be regarded as such, but I feel duty-bound to share how I feel. If I’d trusted my instincts and not the Ultralase surgeon then perhaps my life would be better now. All I know is that as I was lying on the operating table, after having one eye operated on successfully, I was subjected to the horror of the fumbling Ultralase surgeon repeatedly trying to suck the front of my left eye up into the microkeratome equipment. He had commanded me to lay still, and not speak. How I wish now that I had not done as he told me! How I wish I had told him to STOP! How many sleepless nights have I spent going over and over the events in my mind, castigating myself for not pushing the wretched man away and fleeing with my eye intact. I suppose what I want to say is that if your instinct tells you that something’s going badly wrong, and the surgeon doesn’t have the ability you expect, TRUST IT. GET OUT with your EYES INTACT. When I was going through the GMC hearing, I received e-mails from others who’d had similar experiences, worryingly at the same Ultralase clinic. Only they’d been luckier than me. Trust your instincts. I wish I had.
More to follow… I’m really sorry not to have this updated sooner. I’ve been working on art for my new book and because of my injured eye, I’m afraid I have to spend every scrap of daylight drawing and painting! I shall update again as soon as possible, so please look again soon.
Jan Fearnley - George Osbourne replies to John McDonnell MP| 42 repliesYour guerrilla campaign to 'regulate' the laser eye surgery campaign is nothing but a scam and you my friend are a charlatan.
You are incompetent and a loser as highlighted by your U-turn on fiscal policy but also corrupt.
Instead of doing something positive to help the NHS thrive, you are engaging with unscrupulous individuals who seek to use your political presence to inflate publicity for this fictitious issue, piggybacking off the recent adverse publicity within the breast enlargement sector in order to harvest individuals details, encouraging them to make exaggerated claims via no win no fee compensation lawyers.
What's your commission sir and what commission do your associates make off this?
Do you declare your income made off this relationship publicity? I previously thought Tony Blair was the most corrupt MP of all time but I now know it is you. - Trudi replies to George Osbourne| 41 repliesAt least he doesn't shag dead pigs. Rain it in pal.

According to the donkey that wrote this article it predicts your results pre-treatment.
Well I have a product called I predict and my product I predict predicts how much of a fook Optimax give about your aftercare. Results are always the same: FOOK ALL!
Don't take my word for it.....ask the BBC. I love the BBC. - Jamie Paul, Wokingham replies to Mellor_C| 4 repliesAftercare Non-Existent.
My treatment was good and I'm able to go without glasses. HOWEVER, my after-care has been non-existent. I also complained after the surgery that one of my eyes is still blurry and they originally booked me in to re-treat the eye.... and then cancelled it on the day when I was there. Here we are a couple years down the line and you never hear from them at all and my right eye is no better. I also went in to the Reading office/location today to speak to someone about things and the aloof man on reception told me I had to go to my usual optician first, have an eye test, get a copy of the prescription and then arrange an appointment with Optimax. So how is that lifetime aftercare?
