I was called by this number - again - press nine for an all inclusive carribean cruise - i did not press 9 as i have heard they can use this as authorisation from you to make charge calls to your bill.
I am also on TPS, so i don't know how this call got through.
i just ignore it - but it makes me cross as other folks- ie elderly etc might fall for the scam and end up being swindled out of money they don't have.  I think its fundamentally wrong.

    Got a call from 01789 999 999 99
I don't answer my phone anymore, and call back if it's a number I recognise.

Someone should do something about this. Highlight it on TV in the soaps, make it a taboo practice. A blockbuster film, with all the latest overpaid stars, and perhaps a tale involving someone's loved one dying as a result of a missed call, or some interruption by one of these nuisance bloody calls.

Guess what!  I've won a cruise!  A very quiet American voice, pre-recorded.  I left the phoneline open and just put the phone on loudspeaker to get some satisfaction by running their bill up a bit, but when I didn't press 9, they hung up instead.  I'm also registered with TPS, to be honest (going from the details on their respective websites) they seem to pass the buck to OFCOM, who pass it back again, etc...  Why can't these phonelines be treated like email spam so they get blocked?  Its the telephony equivalent of playing knockdown ginger!  I'm ranting.... :)

How rude calling and not actually saying anything apart from a ridiculous recorded message.

I just had a call from them, I answered saying "Hello, Claire speaking" and they hung up! It took me a while trying to work out how many 9's there were!

Same - we are TPS registered and got several calls from this number.
Also picked up the phone and had a recorded message (but put the phone down as quickly possible) re winning a competition. Didnt wait to find out what- its usually a rip off or scam anyway.

No One will just call you up out of the blue offering you something that you never purchased or entered (in the case of a competition). Its just a shame that this kind of scam is no longer contained to the internet where you can redirect it to your spam folder or immediate deletion. This is very invasive having these people call you at home, wasting your time and no doubt selling your info onto other desperados to call you up with there incredible offers. There is some database that you can enter in order to curtail these nuisance callers but sadly it does not last very long and usually returns with a vengeance thanks to the illegal call centres that dont play by the book and break all codes of conduct and call anyone, anywhere at any time!

received call and pressed 9. Man told me his name was John. I told him mine was Mick and I would like him to remove my number from his data base as I am TPS registered! The phone call was ended by him before I could finish speaking.

The Federal Government and various State laws, place restrictions on the commercial use of ADADs.  The Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA") 47 U.S.C. § 227 prohibit the use of automatic dialers (or ADAD's) for the delivering of pre-recorded telephonic messages to homes and businesses without the express prior consent of the called party.   Most state laws that prohibit the use of ADADs, have restrictions that apply to commercial solicitation only, and specifically applies to all commercial solicitation intended to be received by telephone customers within the state that has the law.  Furthermore, when a consumer or business purchases ADAD equipment, it is the position of American Telemarketing Computers, that any seller, manufacturer, dealer or Re-Seller of this type of equipment, is obligated to disclose restrictions on the use of ADADs.  Failure to make proper disclosures constitutes an ommission of the facts which is material to the purchaser's decision to purchase the ADAD equipment.  A material ommission is an unfair and deceptive act or practice in trade or commerce, and is also an unfair method of competition in violation of the Consumer Protection Act.(end)

With respect to the use of automated telecomputers, the basic gist of the 1991 TCPA regulations is that one must first obtain express prior consent of the called party before playing a "Recorded Solicitation" message. The ATC-PC-DIALER-4 has the capabilities of doing this and again, this deals with "Cold Calling" for solicitation purposes. Business to Business contact or Non-Profit use of the equipment as well as Consent calling, or survey work, has very limited restrictions other than normal PUC guidelines regulated by your local phone company. ATC is in no way trying to interpret the TCPA of 1991 by the above comments, nor the laws in your state. Ultimately, it is up to you to check out the legal requirements, and make your own informed decisions.

Your Auto Dialer equipment is registered with the FCC. It Complies with FCC PART 68, and PART 15. Registration No. 1A9USA-75391-VM-E FCC ID: KZ5-RDSP-MINI.

Received a call from this number this afternoon telling me I had won a holiday and to press 9 ...  I work from home and my telephone is very important to me.  It took ages before the call was disconnected their end, leaving me unable to make or receive any calls.  Also, at the time of the call I was in the middle of a job that required 100% concentration and I lost my train of thought, so I was very angry.  I found a number for this company on a previous comment on this website so I rang it and unpolitely asked them to remove me.

All sorts of UK-based companies compile and sell ex-directory and TPS registered numbers to cold callers based in the UK and abroad. In many cases, the number sellers or privacy-breachers include telecoms groups who are regulated by TPS. Start a letter writing campaign, complaining to your local member of parliament to amend the privacy and data protection laws, TPS rules and penalise sellers. The amended laws must be similar to those against email spam.
