Cold call stating that I had been randomly seleted for a Thompson Holiday.
I put the phone down.
I am a member of the Telephone Preference Society so why do I keep getting these calls?

received three calls from these Eygits today. Is there anything I can do to stop them calling?

got a call from this number at 15:59 when i got to the phone it had stopped ringing so went downstairs to check the caller id and was this number thought it was a bit weird having so many nines i live in southampton would be interesting how many other people in the area got the same call. (01789 is a warwickshire number)

We live in Soton too?!!! Mum just asked me to check the website out in regards to the call. Tropical Grand Vacations.  She did press 9 and spoke to an American accent guy called Fransico who passed her over to Vinnie?!  Offered a holiday to Florida Daytona and Ft. Lauderdale for £299 but need to pay up front!  Checked out the website and information was the same to what he said such as "you can take the holiday between 12-18 months time" but found that there was no information in regards to what they actually offer ie: Packaged holidays from £299 or how many days in each of the destinations Etc.  Wouldn't trust it myself.  Pretty strange that it hit Southampton.  Just hope to god no one falls for it...especially at this time of year and the current finacial situation

I want to say  it is incorrect that pressing 9 connects you to a premium number. How do I know? because I do it all the time. I have never had a premium rate phone call charged to my phone because of this. Please do not perpetuate this myth. If you want to piss the caller off press 9 then give them a load of false information. Make up a name and address etc. It is for a cruise leaving from Fort Lauderdale. The only details the caller has is your phone number. What I usually do is string them along and just before I give them my credit card info (WHICH I WOULDN'T DO ANYWAY) I mention that the last time I tried to go  to USA I was stopped at customs and sent back to the UK and now I can't get to USA because of my record and can I join the ship in the Bahamas. After a pause he hung up

I'm in Southampton too. They must just be working through numbers. I pressed 9 a guy answered and I asked to be removed from their list. He hung up. Rude.

Southampton area again (Chandlers Ford).  Just missed a call at 10:04 this morning, rang 1471 to find implausible-looking number, so checked this evening to see what was known about it.

These people called me at 1.35am this morning! and again at 2.30pm today. They put the phone down when my answerphone cut in. I phoned the number back and the number was not recognised.

Also meant to say I live in the New Forest. Hopefully our turn will soon be over!

I, too, have recieved a call from the number. Answered and all I heard was "Congratulations! You have been randomly selected for..." before I hung up. Male American accent.
Scribbled the number down then Yahoo!-ed it and found this site. Glad to know others are in the same boat.
Oh, and I'm with Virgin Media.

Forgot to say today's date is 29th Dec. 2008. Call was at 19:16.

I'm TPS registered, ex directory and I never give out my home number yet I got  a call from these idiots today.  It makes me wonder if TPS are the ones selling our details!?

Have had a couple of calls from this number, message left on answer machine that we had won a holiday in America to hard to believe. Good to see there is a site with this info

Phone rang and rang until we answered it then clicked to a recorded msg. We did not press 9 just took the number then looked it up via your website.
