Report a phone call from 0178999999999 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Mike HJust had call from this number. A male American voice said - "Congratulations you have been randomly selected..." I put the phone down.
I am registered with the TPS as well. So don't know how they got my number. - aguiseThis number called us, in Cardiff, about 30 mins ago and luckily we didn't answer. We googled the no. and found this site plus a couple of others mentioning the scam. We are ex-directory but it doesn't make any difference if a caller randomly calls your number or gets it from somewhere that you have legitimately given it to. We recently flew with Easyjet and I had to give the no to them. Would they pass on info?

- bobJust had one of these stupid competition win calls. If I get hold of the perps I'll slice open their bellies and feed them their stinking entrails with petrol chaser to follow.

- RickyI have received several of these calls but fortunately I was out at work when they called, I have been told it costs you £100 the second you press the 9 button on your telephone, so DONT BE TEMPTED!!!!!
- simonI had some stupid man on the phone.
i told him to remove my number from his database, and he said how much would I pay for that?
I told him to f**k off because he has aids!! then hung up haha. - jacjust had a call from this number.. they left a voice mail and i could not understand it. so pleased i have this site to check my caller display before i answer :-)
- robbieYeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woopy doo I've won a holiday, shame I can't stand them Yank T..ts !!!!!!!!!!!
Told the b..ch to come on holiday here so we can chuck her in the Thames he he
And to think I was as gullible as an American, shame on them. - MarkI had a call today. It said 'number withheld', but as I was expecting a call from my doctor, I answered it. I immediately heard the sound of someone manually hanging up the phone.
I'm registered with the TPS and I guess they have no juristriction with overseas random callers. But the number 0178999999999 is not a real number and suggests something very illegal is happening. Surely BT or some authority should be investigating such a vulnerability in the British phone service? - lynseyHad a call from this number (01789 99999999) this morning. My son had a similar call. Both in the same area of Northern Ireland. On a previous call, not from the same number, I decided to press 3 instead of the number suggested and got the following message 'Your number has been removed from our calling list' I had said to my son about this and on this occasion he pressed 3 and got the same message. It might be worth a try!! Found this in another forum

------------------------
There are a number of telephone scams currently in operation with the criminals trying to obtain credit card details or to get you to connect to a premium rate number.
The callers claim that they are either ringing on behalf of Waitrose or from the 'Waitrose Rewards department', (there is no such department).
The ones we are currently aware of are calls to say:
1. You have been awarded either a prize or a holiday in a competition being run in conjunction with Waitrose. You are then asked to provide credit card details to claim the prize.
2. There is a problem with your order, please press 1 for more information.
3. Friends or family have entered you in a Waitrose competition to win a holiday. Congratulations on your win, please press 1 for more information.
With the last two, pressing 1 connects you to a foreign premium rate number at £50 per minute.
Should you receive calls such as these or other variations, no matter how plausible they may seem, under no circumstances should you give out your details or press 1, simply hang up.
If you have inadvertently given your details you should report this to your local police as soon as possible.
Rest assured that if Waitrose were involved in a competition of this type, we would never ask for bank or credit card details or ask you to press buttons on the phone for more information.
