In the Southampton area.  Just had this call. Had it 4 or 5 times in the last few months.

Tell me. I act on the assumption that it would normally be an offense to utter obscenities and profanities over the phone at somebody who had phoned me from the UK.  But if these guys have chosen to call me from the USA to escape the obligations of UK Telecommunications legislation, then would it not also be the case that they would have no recourse to the protection offered by the same legislation?

If that were true, then, if we were all to start telling them as bluntly as possible what we really thought of them, might we 1) get some minor satisfaction from doing so, and 2) upset at least some of their operators enough to get them to quit this company?

I think well-qualified comments made earlier in this forum make it clear that there is no risk of getting charged by answering these calls.

Just had calls from these [***] on two of our phones. Why do they bother? It's just pathetic. It would be nice to stitch them up in some way - if only it were possible.

We had this number call us this evening at 8:30 p.m.! Too late for scammers to be calling. These type of calls annoy me. I decided to Google just like others and glad I did. Will not answer. We are also ex-directory and TPS, but obviously does not make any difference.

had a call today at 2pm very strange there was no one on the other line,just silence

This type of call was bad enough when my 11 year old was in hospital any your expecting that dreaded call on and off over 10 years. Even now he has passed away i still jump out of bad. Its sick.

its a scam. company based in west indies DONT PRESS 9!! i did and then realised it wasn`t good because it was a diverted called so put the phone down....picked it up 20-30 seconds later,dont know why!! there was an american on the line.asked him why he was still there "hey buddy you shouldn`t hang up on me ,you`ll have to pay the charges now" told him what i thought of him and his country. waiting for the bill !!!

Had this damned number that you all mention calling me for the past 4 months.. am f**king sick of it and it really is an invasion of privacy, esp when receiving their calls very early in morning (by early I mean 6AM) and later at night, disturbing whole family.  It's not on at all and is just disgusting "business" practice to be hassled this way

They don't get your number, it's a computer generated list.
Like a lot of companies that do this stuff,(including kitchens direct) they have a machine that gives them a number to ring and they just dial, or as in this case, a fully automated dialing unit with a pre-recorded message and an 'agent' waiting for anyone foolish enough to answer.

Had this call at 11:45 am whilst out. Diaaled 1471 and yes they have got e......Arrrrrghhhhhhhh

Phone rang while out of the room, unusual for my phone to ring during the day so 1471 and when i heard all the 99999s i googled it....glad i didnt answer!

Had this call jus after I put my 7 month old baby down to sleep after it taking me nearly an hour to get her to go down.. Of course it woke her up.. not impressed at all!!!  Also x-directory and TPS

Had it earlier today too wanted to check the number out. Didnt pick up also x-dir.

Just had a call at 17.30. Thankfully I have caller ID and when I saw all the 9's, I realised that it was a dodgy number. Came straight on here and I'm now so glad I didn't answer it. I'm also ex-directory and on TPS.

I have a number of lines and have been getting calls from this number today.  All my lines are x-directory and registered with the TPS.  Registration seems really pointless, unless their rules are enforceable.  1. It is clear that this is a UK company calling people. 2. This company is surely breaking the law.  3. It is also clear that this number may be masking another number, as the number is clearly invalid.  Try it yourselves.

What can I do please.  Any suggestions would be welcome.

Just this minute had a call from this number. Recorded message said 'Congratulations, you have won a' at which point I hung up. 1471 returns this number. I am also TPS registered.

Just had a call from this number I am TPS listed it is a joke the fact they can just call and give a load of bull. Wish this could be blocked. I just put reciever down at side of phone and left it a few mins.

Call this evening (31 Jan 09) from this number - we were out and no message left

01/02/2009 they are still at it 2 times today

They called us and we are ex directory we just hang up sid we had won a hoilday...  total rubbish, just ignore them or buy a whistle and blow it very hard next time they call...
