Just recieved the same text message, even though I have absolutely NO knowledge of, or connection with Nextcard Ltd! I called 0800500212 as suggested by Allan, (see above). They are investigating this SCAM!!
However, after speaking to Orange it doesn't seem like I have any chance of being reimbursed! They said there was nothing they could do, as the call was from a third party! I am totally incensed by this, and not just for myself. These people are going to make a fortune with this scam, and I've been told that if they are caught, they will probably only be fined about £250,000! A mere drop in the Ocean when you think about all the individuals they will be contacting at £4 a pop!!!! This is a very cowardly and lucrative crime, not to mention dispicable! Especially with the current Global financial crisis, when people are trying desperately to keep there heads above water, making cutbacks and saving wherever they can!!!

I HAVE RUNG EVERYBODY CONCERNING THIS AND THEY ALL SEEM TO BE INVESTIGATING BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT MAYBE THEY SHOULD SEND THE POLICE INTO ERICSON WHO ARE INVOLVED AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED OR TRACK THE O2O3 PHONE NUMBER OR THE OTHER ONE GIVEN STARTING 0207, WOULD THIS NOT BE EASY AS THEY MUST BE REGISTERED TO SOMEONE, THEY ARE AFTER ALL LAND LINES!
JUST HAD A LOOK AT MY CALLS MADE ON MY VIRGIN ONLINE SITE AND THE CHARGE FOR £4.00 WAS NOT MADE TO THE NUMBER 60440 BUT TO A NUMBER 700052075, THIS IS 2 DIGITS SHORT OF A MOBILE SO AGAIN SOMETHING MAYBE THE AUTHORITIES SHOULD LOOK INTO, WHY ARE THEY DOING NOTHING? ALSO THE GUYS AT OFCOM SAY WE SHOULD ALL BATTER THE OFT, OR CONSUMER DIRECT AS THEY LIKE TO NOW BE CALLED, WITH COMPLAINTS AS THEY ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DEAL WITH SCAMS.

I have also just called Phone pay plus and they were very helpful.  they are investigating the case at the moment and it may take up to 12 weeks to resolve how ever if you log a call with them they will keep you informed of the progress. They did say that the scam was something to do with downloading a peice of soft ware and that the charge would be made to your phone account

I received this same text first thing this morning. I've spoken to a company who are investigating it and they have found out that the payment comes from a request made for using the program WinRar. I'm sure most of you have heard of it its an unzipping program for the computer. Basically to activate the program a text needed to be sent to them for the charge of £4 to which they will reply with a code to activate the prgram. I do personally recall doing this now as I had to unzip a mass of items on my computer. Hope this helps.

Well, I have now checked through all my stored sent and received txts (I really must delete them soon!) and yes, I DO have txts from that number and according to "my" sent items, I "did" send a reply txt with the initials CD in it!! but like the rest of you, I most certainly did NOT!!
The txt I received on 18 Nov 2009 said that my code was JQFCXU total price four pounds and the "sent" txt (which I DID NOT SEND!!)has not got any 'delivery details' or date sent.
I have not used any megauploader or winzip utilities either!!
