Before calling a commission-based company a scam because you're not earning the amount of money you're told you can, maybe you should take the time to realise that you're not earning because you're not putting enough effort in. It's commission! If you don't earn enough it's because you're not letting yourself get better at it.
I've worked f2f for charity for two months now and I never earn less than £500 a week. So how is it I can do that when all you guys can't? Stop complaining and actually put some effort into your lives and maybe you'll actually see the results.

Hi applied for a cosmetics sales advisor job and got a call from Alisa Nelson. I have heard bad things of them. The email said
As mentioned in our conversation your appointment is scheduled with us on the 09/07/2012 at 2:15 PM. You will be interviewed by my manager so it would be great if you could dress smart (Suit or Shirt trousers and tie) and also bring in a copy of your CV with yourself. A print out of this email will also come in hand for when you get here.

Your appointment with us should last around 30-45 minutes, during your appointment the manager will be sitting down with you and will be explaining our company background, goals, pay structure, role and the hours to you in further detail. This will also be the time where you will be able to explain to the manager your goals and ambitions as well as asking any questions you think will help you understand the role in further detail.

Dammnnnnn i got a call from YFR today at 10.30am (woke me up from my precious sleep). I was so excited to answer the call as i thought it was a feedback from my interview yesterday. i was so drowsy i couldn't even think straight that in a 3-4 mins phone call all i got was.."the appointment would be on the 10th by 12 is that alright?" I had no clue of what happened but I was looking forward to it. I couldn't Google the company because I had no info on them. I later got a text by 3 giving me the address and what not I started thinking of how to get to London and what to wear (just like the stories before mine). After trying to find out some info about the company and couldn't get any (actually a website-Bizzy does show the company's net-worth, cash at bank, current asset and liability all at £0 - weird right) i started getting suspicious, luckily i bumped into this email..........I wanted it to be all a lie but unfortunately its not
I do think we should do something rather than just complain in a group but i don't know what else

I have an 'interview' with YFR this coming Monday 9/07/12.

The address given is 12-20 Baron St, Angel N1 9LL.

Again I was someone taken out of the blue from a phone call from Lydia on 07725951465, Office: 020 7841 0208.

Having read the posts I have had experience with these kind of companies before in the NW when I was a student. They will just take advantage of you and will keep telling you that you are on a 'fast track management course'.

The reality is you will be convincing people in drab shopping centres to change Electricity Supplies, or something of that nature. The only person who will benefit is the person above you, who gets a commision cut from all the people they convince to go stand in drab shopping centres trying to convince people to change thier Electricity Suppliers.

With sales, any reputable company will pay you a salary, as well as commision on sales on top - this is an industry fact.

What these companies try to do is usery, getting you to work for free, earning very little commision at all, while the person who set up the company and has made an arrangement with British Gas as a reseller or whatever, will make all the revenue.

With YFR I have no experience of them, but I can see this one coming.

Beware use your head, no reputable sales company will have you working only on commision, because you will be making so much revenue it warrants a salary with commision on top. No salary, no revenue, small comissions = slave labour.

Okay, right, to the posters above me and any below:

SSC Marketing, Shand Street, London Bridge- Working with make-up? I have to admit, I was duped. The simple fact being that I'm a student running into debt and desperate for a job.

Like all the other stories, I got an email, (addressed to "anna", they couldn't even be bothered to capitalise my damn name, already, warning bells...).

Went to the meeting, where they had 2 of us, interviewed by Managing Director Sophinna Asif. She sped through everything, asked ridiculously vague questions that meant she clearly hadn't even sniffed my CV. I was repeatedly asked at every opportunity to write down my mobile number for them (which is clearly written at the top of my CV). After her regurgitation and rather sloppy diagram of what I think she thought was some kind of business plan, she abruptly shook my hand and told me they'd be in touch. No mention of wage, what the role involved ect... Just the throwing around of what other people are making, and how much of an opportunity it would be... smelling BS here.

I let it slide, stupidly, and agreed to go to a 2nd interview, which they call an 'Open Day'. Basically sitting at Costa coffee watching 3 very desperate people sell to 'customers' who clearly did not want to buy a cheap make-up set, for themselves, their wife, daughter, girlfriend, niece ect. It was only at about 5 O'clock, after 8 hours of being with these people, that any of my questions concerning wages, which were previously wholeheartedly and meticulously dodged, got any closer to being answered.

I was drawn a shoddy diagram of apparently how the sales were broken down, again, accompanied by the super fast incomprehensible drivel. Something about £5 here and there, and £15 there, and times that by the amount of sales average and BOOM! I'M GONNA BE RICH. I questioned her further, and explained that no one in their right mind would take a job that had no guarantee of an income, and having observed her and her team all day, they had made a total of about 6 sales between them. All terrible market plans and it was actually that moment that my brain switched off.

After that, I thought I had come all that way, and that I should have fun with it. I asked more questions, often in front of potential customers, about potential sales, where the product is actually from, why does it say "made in China" if the brand is a bonafide American company, why does it look so cheap if it is indeed worth £60 ect. They weren't very happy, needless to say, however they did divulge some of their disgusting sales techniques.

Despite all of this, I went into my final interview and basically regurgitated everything that was said to me by my trainer, and low and behold, I'm now a proud member of SSC Marketing!

I wonder how many phone calls I'm going to be getting before 9am this morning? Haha, I better turn my phone off if I want to enjoy my well earned lie-in, eh?

What a bunch of idiots :P

    Dear Catarina,

I have just received your application. I will be speaking to all the successful applicants today to arrange an interview with my manager as he is looking to sit down with them as early tomorrow afternoon. So the next step for you is to give me a call and arrange an appointment for you.

Look forward to speaking to you soon.

    Kind Regards

    Alisa Nelson

Scam, right? I mean... mobile number? This was sent this morning, no job reference, no nothing. Also the email address was a gmail address alisa.bluemoondirect@gmail.com. Does any professional company actually use free emails instead of setting a registered one? Domains are cheap enough...

Also, I don't recall applying to anything by that name.

I did setup a few online profiles.

I don't think you need to be rude, people are trying to assertain is something is real or not before they do it, hardly a bad thing really. Perhaps if at interview the details are made clear then all these posts would not be up here warning people off them, commission based roles are fine, but they are not for everyone, so the companies should disclose how you are paid and what you have to do for it, it's basic rights.

i wouldnt go, i attended an interview today, had it with the managing director hu was very very young. the interview wasnt an interview as such, he didnt ask me any questions. but i got the job, i felt that i got it waaaaaaaaay to easy. i also struggled to remember when i applied for this job because i would never apply for something that is commission based so i think they made a fake job a got everyones details from there. i was sooo happy when i got it but something told me to do some research on the company when i got home so i did. and then this came up.

Thank you for this, I am definitley not going now. I saw the actual website (which was very hard to find) I only found it because a lady found the link when asking if it's a scam on yahoo http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120710062437AAqK3GN

The website is here: http://www.yfr.co.uk/ it is not very clear what they actually do.

I am not saying it's a sam as such but it does seem like a 'angle' to get people to at least start, they should be more clear about it.

Did they actually say it's commission based?

YFR LTD phoned didn't answer voicemail left by a person called Lydia, telling they look at my c.v application. I was baffled might applied for this job on one of the job sites that same day I got the call which was on Monday 9th July I phone back 5mins later the lady who answer said Lydia just popped out, she took my name down recieved no call backs. The next day I phone can't get through to mystery Lydia, so I ask when can I get to speak to her around the lady replied so I call back then and Lydia finally on the phone, she books an interview appointment for tomorrow and that's the only day she can do. She says some manager will be interviewing me, then before I say bye I get an instant message of the appointment schedule.

So greateful I've done my research no website for this diabolical company, I stumbled upon this great forum, thanks guys save me from attending. I had a place at a marketing company before called Red Planet marketing left during training cause commission base jobs are B.S unless you own a shop.

As a UNi graduate just gonna carry on with the job hunting though be extra cautious.
