I can't believe these people. At I time where I am looking for a job it us the last thing that I need, to hear that it is a scam! They have my cv which has all of my details on address, phone number etc. I'm so glad I decided to do research about them! Thanks for sharing these horrible experiences. There is no way I will be attending this interview. Beware of the manager names Stacey Kehoe and Vanessa Palmer! That's if their even real!

E-mail said that they chose 50% of candidates for interview and that I was one of them. I researched monster marketing direct and on their website they say it is face-to-face marketing which usually means door knocking and is commission based. They are also known under Innovation Marketing Direct. I think that if a company is known under two names then they must be dodgy. Their website monstermarketingdirect.com  doesn't have much info on it which makes me more suspicious. There is also an Innovation marketing direct website which I believe is their's as the address is the same as monster marketing and are also part of The Cobra Group. Monster marketing site say they said they are contracted to The Cobra Group plc. My advice is when applying for jobs, research the recruiter's name first on a search engine such as Google or Yahoo and if there are no scam reviews then apply for the job with CV. This is something I shall be doing in the future. Don't wait until invited to an interview. Do it before applying for the job and maybe avoid ones that have marketing in the job title as most jobs I find with this in title are commission based unless you do not mind having a commission based job.

I had a missed call from these people.  I called back to be greeted by a receptionist who only gave her first name (Hi, Victoria speaking).  I found this a bit odd as most big companies would give out the name of the company, not the name of the person when answering calls.  I told her I was returning a missed call and she said oh yes what is your name?  I gave her my name and she replied with oh yes yes we received your CB regarding the entry level Marketing position and our managers were really excited by your CV and would love for you to come in for an interview.  When are you available?  She then told me the days she would be available for the interview and said she will email the details over to me.

Now I admit I am a bit of a cynic but this one really got my suspicions going off.  I have never come across a manager that gets excited about a CV and then gets the receptionist to call me without leaving a message so I have to call back. Then for the receptionist to conduct the interview herself?  I had the impression that she was sitting there with hundreds of CV's and had been calling them back one by one all day.

I then received the e-mail which was signed by a Stacey Kehoe, which is not the name she gave me over the phone?!?  Unless she got someone else to send the e-mail, but you would think they would mention that in the e-mail?  The e-mail itself seems reasonable, but is very generic and my name is in a different font to the rest of the e-mail so it was obviously just cut and pasted into there and is the same as the hundreds of other e-mails she sent that day.

I'm now left with two options.

    1. Go in for the interview and give them a piece of my mind.
    2. Just not bother turning up and waste their time.

I went to the Monster Marketing 1st and 2nd interviews and it is true that they don't call everyone back. It is not a scam as such, they sell door to door contracts with Sky (and Norwich Union as well I think). It is hard work, on average you will sign up one person a day approximately but you need to call on 100 houses for that and work until really late/in the dark/rain/etc. It is hard work and to be honest it isn't for me (I don't have the stamina for it) but a friend of mine has been successful at it. You need to have the right kind of personality and charm but it is draining work.

There are companies such as 'wesser' that do similar work for charities. There is a slight scam aspect of it because those customers that sign up to support on a monthly/quarterly/yearly basis often don't realise how little actually goes to the charity itself in the first year.

However someone like Monster Marketing works differently as customers see what they sign up for, commission is not taken off the direct debit (as money goes to Sky direct).

Anyone that is interested in a hard-sell sales job should go along and make up their own mind rather than read immature, silly comments on the internet about 'brainwashing'. You sound like angry children.

The funniest thing about this is the way the people who work for this bunch of scamming slave drivers try to come on here pretending to be other people who found it 'too difficult' to work there, but there 'friend' who stayed there is really successful and things its a great job!  Complete bull****!

People like you are giving real sales companies a bad name!  Why not just be honest in your interviews and adverts and then maybe you wouldn't get so many hostile responses.  Every person who deals with you feels like they have been scammed and when there is not even ONE good review about your company online it is NOT because we are "angry children"  It is because we are honest hard working people trying to find a job, but when you come across scams like yours it make people angry.  Find me one piece of positive information about your company that isn't written by your staff, just one!  We'd love to see one, but I'm sure we'll be waiting for a very long time.

    pissed off
I received an email from Galaxy Marketing informing me that I have been selected for a preliminary interview. I was so happy to get an interview that I called them back straight away and arranged a date for interview. I asked them to send me an email to confirm as I wanted to check out their website. I was surprised to discover that the company didn't have a website, so I googled and found quite a few links on scams from this company. I'm really pissed off because these people are really wasting my time! The person I spoke to was Casey and she sounded like a schoolgirl. She knew nothing about the positions I applied for and said that her manager, Warren Roach, will explain in details once I get there. All email responses are via HR@mygalaxymarking.com and they used the number 020-74078585

Please save your self from these scammers. They are advertising them selves on total jobs as no cold calling or door to door sales. entry level marketing AND event managemnet people required. Be aware

to all who wants to know all these companys are part of a multi national corporation called SMART CIRCLE and what they do is sell you a dream, you can chase it but you have to be ready to sell the same dream to others. how these establishments workis at first they train you as a rep and send you of doing the legwork after your sales skills become to a min level then they promote you to leader ( account manager ) which you have to start selling dreams to others in order to reach your dream in a nutshell from this point you have to start building your team and your sales portfolio. at this point thy teach you how to replace your self by training new leaders once you have proved you can do it you will become assistant manager from this point you will recieve a share of the income from your teams sales once you proved you are consistant and you learned more tricks to sell the dream and keep the dream alive for others they will promote you to manager and you can choose a new location to start you office. bare in mind it is a lucrative biz. as long as you have the stomak and enough develoed team under you.

    Ron,

From a marketing graduate who attained a 1st degree, I can inform you that these types of companies are under the 'pyramid' selling scope which is in fact illegal in some countries, including the UK and the United States as well as being wholly unethical.

In June last year, having just left university, I too got a call from a 'marketing agency' which gave me all the same information that we have seen from these naive and inexperienced applicants. They were also called LONDON MARKETING services. They are all linked to an American company called 'Cobra marketing', so I would expect that these offices they promise are opening rapidly, are opened under different names, such as EA Acquisitions, Fosters Marketing, Monster Marketing, London Marketing Services and Galaxy Marketing.

For those that want to report these shady companies, I would advise that you contact the following organisations who can help you in your quest to unveil these illegal practises.

Thank goodness that I  read all the reviews here, you guys have saved me alot of time and hassle.  What a waste of time!!! How do people get away with scams like this?? Is it really legal??  Door to door selling??!!! Never in a lifetime would I degrade myself.

I am glad I came across this forum just out of curiosity after I attended a 'preliminary interview' on the 8th Jan at 2pm in Shand House.

When i arrived at Shand House outside(15mins early), I was on the phone chatting to an agency (so i had time before going in), but whilst chatting on the phone i saw quite a few people in smart dressed attire walking into Shand House, even one person asked me where EA Worldwide was, so I pointed to him to the door, from there on I was getting more suspiscous. So 5 mins before 2pm, i decided to go in.

Went downstairs into a lobby area only to find there were at least 20 people sitting down with clipboards filling out forms, went to the receptionist and i said i have an interview at 2pm, the 'aussie' receptionist said that she did not have any clipboards left for to me to complete a form and told me to take a seat, so i took a seat just behind to the right of the reception desk where i had a full view of the lobby.

I sat there analysing all the candidates and the receptionists OH and also dodgy looking car salesmen look a likes, whizzing from office to office trying to look all important. From herein, I was not comfortable whatsoever. I knew this was dodgy, I even was texting to my friends on my phone saying this company is dodgy with loads of people waiting to be interviewed.

Anyway, about half an hour later I was still waiting and finally the receptionist gave me a form to fill, she told me to ignore the letter headed paper as they were waiting for new stationary to arrive, on the letter head crossed out was Galaxy Marketing replaced in pen with EA! I looked at her when I saw this and just thought this a flaming joke.

When I handed back the form she asked where is my CV, i said this was emailed when I applied for the job! So she said ok.

About another 30 mins later, I was then called in to see this american blonde woman, very bubbly etc etc, but to my delight I was accompanied by another candidate which I found very strange.

So she blabbed on and on about the company etc, asking me questions about my experience, so i bull***ted just to make her feel that i can easily do this job while the other candidate who was european and only been in this country for 4 months!!!!!!! was brainwashed in to this absolute scam, I just sat there taking the P*** when I talking to the american manger or whatever she is. Anyway after the interview she said to us we passed and can we come back for the 2nd stage on Monday 11th Jan, so i pretended to be excited and said congratulations to the other candidate who seemed genuinely pleased and I knew this was just not what it seemed.

So after walking out of the door i said the other candidate this is a dodgy company and I am not coming back, she seemed to oblivious to what I was saying.

So I recieved an email about 2 hours later saying turn up on Monday for the 2nd round of interviews which was basically walking around london in the cold with an 'account manager'.

I replied and said I am not interested as I felt the company was a scam and I ain't stupid. Heard nothing back.

So people, bewarned this company is just full of bull****ers making them sound bigger than they are, and try to make you feel that your going to progress with in the company within 6 - 12 months, but sorry I am not walking around London for free and only earn pittence for what I sell. Complete rubbish.

    Scott again
    Check out EA Worldwide on companies house, dodgy as f*** Companies House have stated TOTAL EXEMPTION SMALL on their report which means;

"There is total exemption from audit for certain small companies (including
very small charitable companies) if they are eligible and wish to take
advantage it. Some charitable companies are exempt from audit but must
provide an accountant's report on the accounts (partial exemption)."

So there you have it they are not as big as they make out to be and not making much money. It would be interesting if anyone would pay £1 at companies house to view their full accounting report, if you do post it on here or give out the info.... we would be very interested :)

I received an email and then a call from a company called Galaxy Marketing - Address 14-20 Shand Street, telephone 02086160989 - one day after applying for a job as an events assistant. This company is not as it seems and I think it is important to let everyone know about this. After some investigation I have discovered a large get-rich-quick pyramid type scheme going on. This is not illegal as far as I know but it is very unethical and quite manipulative and misleading.

I was informed that the job would be events based marketing and that I would be working on events. This was important to me as I work in events management. However, after doing some research for the interview I came across this and other forums. This made me very suspicious, especially after an experience with Aspire marketing, which incidentally operates under the same umbrella company. Anyway, I decided to still go but more to investigate and see if it was what I wanted or really what people have been saying on here.

When I arrived there were problems from the start. I found the building but it turns out that ‘Galaxy Marketing’ is not listed on the door, instead it was ‘EA Acquisitions’ and ‘London Marketing services’ which were both operating form the same office, which is suspicious in itself. I went in and saw a lot of people waiting. When it came to my interview I was led into an office with another potential employee. I find it very odd that on a first interview I should be with other people, perhaps on a second or third interview but not first. The man interviewing me then proceed to reel over the EXACT SAME description of the business/job etc as was told to me at Aspire. As I was prepared for this when it came to asking questions I very politely mentioned that when doing research for the job I found many negative comments about the company, which I was worried about particularly as the company name was not listed on the door to the building. I also mentioned that I was unable to find a website at all for the company. He side-stepped the part about negative comments and said that the reason there was no name on the door was because the landlord did not want more than one name listed on the door and that the website was under construction. Be very wary of these explanations, when a website is under construction you are still able to find it, all that happens when you click on the link is it says ‘under construction’ and also no decent upstanding company will not advertise where they are, it does not make business sense, unless of course you are operating under more than one name!

Basically, what Galaxy, Aspire and others like it, do is they offer door-to-door sales and other aggressive direct marketing like in store product pushers. They make you do this for long hours a day working on commission. Then when you have done this for a while you interview people and persuade them to do the leg work instead. After a while you then start your own company doing exactly the same. Basically there are a lot of companies working under the same umbrella company, which I believe may be Cobra. While I believe this may not be illegal what is worrying is that they blatantly lie about the true nature of the job to entice people in. I also have serious questions over where the money collected from door-to-door marketing goes. I actually attended the second interview at Aspire, which was very disastrous as I was led to believe the job was something else. When I was taken door-to-door I was told we were collecting direct debit donations for the Red Cross, however, the only indication that was who we were supposed to be working for was an A4 laminated print with info about Red Cross on that anyone can get from the internet!

Galaxy and Aspire will lie, manipulate and mislead people into taking jobs they do not want, selling it as a management training program. The only skills you learn are how to sell aggressively and hold vague interviews. These are NOT transferable skills and as a daughter of a very successful manager will not help you be a good manager. Only do this job if you are happy selling your soul to earn as much as you can as quickly as you can!
