Was told an e-mail with more info would be sent that day, but late (around 18:00) which i thought was a bit strange, no phone interview. After reading all these posts, i will not be attending either.

    Thanks

Me too pretty much same thing, recieved a call from a lady asking me in for an interview, went to the 1st interview on wed 16th sep 09. Like everyone says loadza un professional young ppl with a sprinkle of a few bimbos in heels and loud house musik (house music being about the only thing i enjoyed) received a 2nd call later tht day for a 2nd interview, by this point my hopes where really high, I had dreams of a wealthy life with my girlfriend, dreams of porches & 4 x 4s lol.

Unlike everyone else I was not informed about wearing comfortable shoes and being typical of my luck I DID NOT wear comfortable shoes. we spent a day out where I wasted a tena on lunch and cigarettes. lukily my oyster is weekly due to the fact I already have a fulltime job otherwise I would've had to fork out alot of money on transport, we did several trips on the same streets, my feet begun to kill ad the weather started to get colder. Later that evening amazingly (NOT) i qualified for a 3rd interview and after what seemed to be a challenging interview... wooop e doo i was offered the position.

On my first day we had wat they called an "opportunity meeting" the guy ranted on about his relationship with his dad and trying to explain something which I saw had no relevance. He kept going on about how much money there was to make and kept sayin all these figures to try to entice us. It was at this time my girlfriend had tuned in to this website and had informed me of the whole scam. I was literaly on the verge of quitting my current job to start at this place and if it wasn't for my girlfriend and this site i'd be in alot of [***] in the near future.

no door to door for me please
I had applied for a job as a Client representative on Gumtree, i.e.working with clients not door to door sales. I was in London for several other interviews 17/09/09 when I got a call from Kelly from Aspire on 0207 251 9028 and was told HR had approved my application and wanted to interview me.

So I went for prelim interview later that day.  Eastern European man who's English I could hardly understand interviewed me, told me it was mainly B2B sales then gave me the promotion structure saying I could be marketing manager in 6-10 months.  Later I received a phone call saying I had gotten a second interview, was quite excited even though I did think it was odd to have an interview from 4-8.30pm on a Friday.

So before I set off to London I decided to do some research into the company.  Couldn't find a website, but found this page.  And I am glad I did.  I phoned Aspire and voiced my concerns that the role seemed quite vague and I would like a better idea of what I was going to be doing and they e-mailed me a job description.

    Hi,
the same number, company, story....been offered an interview, lucky I have read these comments. Knew it was something dodgy after looking up my application on reed again...the email to apply to is a google mail. Which reputable recruitment agency would be using google mail rather than their own domain??
Went on to research, they are just time wasters, so even if you have been invited, do not attend, let them waste their own!

    Hi Abdul,

We look forward to meeting you during your preliminary interview on Tuesday 22nd September. We have reserved a meeting with one of our Managing Directors for you at 14:40hrs. Please be sure you are dressed smart and have a printed copy of your CV with you so the manager has one during your interview.  When you arrive, please ask for Kelly from Aspire.

We anticipate Tuesday being busy due to the number of people currently looking for full time work in London, so please keep us informed if you are running late or unable to attend. We will do our best to contact you if we run into delays; however you should clear at least 30-45 minutes for the interview including any waiting time.

Our managing director will want to learn more about your background and your career goals, so please be prepared to discuss these.  He will also break down a more detailed job description, tell you more about the services we provide for our clients, and outline where you could fit in to our plans for 2009. Any specific questions you have about the role can be addressed with them.

We will not be making a final decision based on Tuesday’s interview.  Some candidates will be invited back for a second, more thorough, interview where they will spend a full day with an experienced client representative.  This day is an evaluation of the candidate’s work ethic, ability to recall information, and overall communication skills.  It is also very helpful for the candidate since they are given the opportunity to observe the role and educate themselves about our marketing system.  Once this full day interview is complete, we will look to make a mutual final decision.

*** For more information feel free to visit our website www.aspiremktg.com ***

We have included directions and a link to a map below. If you have any difficulties locating us, please do not hesitate to ring and we will navigate you. See you soon!

    Kind Regards,

    Kelly.

    Directions

The nearest underground station is Old Street Station which is on the Northern Line (King's Cross branch). Our office is really easy to find if you use exit #8. The main road you'll be on is City Road. There is a green line painted along the sidewalk.  Follow the green line up until it turns left for Moorefield's Eye Hospital. DO NOT TURN LEFT: Continue walking straight on City Road, past the Bavarian Beerhouse, and take the next left, which is Bath Street (it's at a set of traffic lights). We are the first set of blue double doors and you will see a plaque that says '1 Bath Street'. The door should be unlocked, so just push to enter and reception is straight ahead.

I dont even remember applying for this Graduate Trainee position with Aspire Acquisitions. So the call came as a complete surprise. The lady who was calling spoke so fast and wanted to invite me to an interview tomorrow at 1.30pm. Thank fully all the helpful advice on this blog has convinced me to not waste any further time on these low-life's.

PS: The modus operandi sounds exactly the same for London Marketing Services and London Marketing Company in Cardiff. My partner wasted time and money to attend interviews with these 2 companies in Cardiff housed in the same office at Sophie House.

    Nearly Scammed
I had a call today from Charlotte from a company called Aspire on this number. She told me that I had applied to them through Reed then she changed it to Gumtree. She offered me an interview to be a trainee marketing assistant and the time of my interview would be 1:30. I said that I would call her back because I needed to check out the travel situation. I tried checking my emails for this so called job but couldn't find it and I couldn't find any information about the company. I called back and explained I couldn't make that time so she offered 6:30pm and I accepted. She told me there would be an email to follow and this would ahve all the details in. I then typed the number into google and found out it was a scam. I will not be attending the interview.

So, guys after readin all ur really useful comments, I'm trying to figure out what the real issue is here. Why are the company a scam? Is it because they don't tell uyou in the advert that you'll be doing door to door sales? I went to one in Coventry the other day, and got the happy news that I have been selected...and I don't mind doin door to door, if it does lead somewhere. Do you guys know somethin I don't?! Is it all just a sham, and the likelihood of progression, is thin? Please help!
    Thanks so much

Its not a scam. If they told people word by word that it will be door to door sale do you really think people would show up for the interviews?? You have to keep in mind that these company's have been going for 2 years now in the UK (not to mention how long in the US), if they're doing anything wrong, do you really think the police would have not done something by now? instead these company's are growing every month, even in a recession, which means as much as you guys don't want to admit it, there is something honest to what they are saying.
I say all this because i have friends that work at these places and they're the hardest workers i know.

This is a scam because they say the salary is negotiable. It is misleading by not telling you what the job entails and just giving a broad job title. Its a scam because they try and hard sell a job over the phone. Its a scam because they often work you on a "probation" period until you quit and then they hire someone else to replace you. . .its a scam for wasting my/your time.

p.s. this guy called me on a Saturday afternoon - around 5.00 and said that they were so busy that they had to work on weekends.

I just got contacted by Aspire, scheduling an interview the very next day and after looking at their website i knew something was suspect.... it was just a flashy website with [***] all information about what they did on a day to day basis just some flashy sales jargon.... i've now googled them and found this site and a couple of other threads of pissed off applicants.

I applied on the reed website for a position which said...

    Client Relations/Marketing/Sales/Customer Service

THIS IS THEIR [***] JARGON FOR DOOR TO DOOR CANVASSING

I would recommend reading the earlier thread listing all their company names because this is the second time this has happened to me with a different company name....what a bunch of pricks
