It's Christian Aid. I texted a donation for a mosquito net for Comic Relief last year and they keep ringing me despite my asking them not to. Comic Relief will not be getting any more money from me in this way.

I gave £3 by text a while ago to Christian aid to buy a mosquito net. Better than giving your details on the street I thought.
Anyway a few weeks later the phone rang and this guy goes into his pitch - I should have just hung up but I'm just not that rude. So he wants me to sign up to a TEXT giving monthly option. It sounded like a good idea (reply yes once a month to a text you receive if you feel like donating £3 that month or don't reply if you don't want to).
I went to the Christian Aid website after I hung up and could find no information about this new way of donating so called them and asked. Nobody was sure if it was legit or not and I said until there was something on their website I would not donate that way.
If it is legit great idea - but it should be on there website.
Anyway hope this helps - basically Listen UK are a fund-raising organisation representing a number of charities. If they call you and you don't want them to ask them who they are raising funds for - ask to be removed from their call list database - say you will complain to the said charity if you recieve any more calls.

This number called repeatedly while I was waiting for an urgent call from my doctor.  I shall try to find the name of the charity in order never to give to it.

Recd a call from this number saying that they were asking for donations for Bernados Childrens Homes - they asked me if I knew what that was and tried to persuade me into donating £12 a month - very pushy person on end of phone but I was polite and just asked them for a number to contact in the new year if I was in a position to donate - he gave me 0208-5508822 to contact1

They have been calling me every day and I have been ignoring it. Answered it today to find out who it is - it's Barnardos charity. Answer it and ask them to remove your number from the list.

Any cold calls, and the caller is duly obliged to end the call.

I've had a call twice despite telling them first time not to do it as it disturns me at work. Said they were barnardos but suspect just a charity specialist call centre. Put the phone down and am cancelling donations; they must learn!

I work for this company Listen UK. Charities find using a professional fundraising organisation the most cost-effective way of fundraising and in turn surviving. Listen UK represent various charities and good causes. If you wish not to be called, politely ask to not be called and you won't. If I were to call back someone who has asked not to be called I would be in serious trouble and potentially lose my job.

We are just doing a job, it's not that dishonourable to raise abit of awareness of charitable work, and is the most cost-effective way for charities to raise funds. We are paid to ASK if people are interested in materially supporting a charity, noone is obliged to give. It takes two seconds to politely tell someone not to call you. All major charities will use this form of fundraising as it ensures the maximum amount financial support goes toward the charities fieldwork and not fundraising. If you would like to give this would be the best way to do it, if not it takes two seconds to say no.

I am getting plagued by calls from this number.. I don't recognise the number. I haven't answered and they don't leave a message. How can I get this 'haunting' to stop?

Repeated calls from this number atleast 3-4 times a day. It's driving me mental! I signed up with the red cross but cancelled I'm assuming this is them...

Think mine is from British Red Cross. I cancelled my monthly donation as they kept calling me to increase it and i politely said i donate what i can, but they still kept calling!! so think they want me to reinstate it.  I give what i can and dont expect calls every week to up my donation.

They keep on CALLING & CALLING & CALLING even though i,ve told them that we give to our chosen charities when we wish. They say they are from Action Children,Which we have NEVER heard of, and today they asked my wife to sign up to £20 per month to sponsor a child. We told them that we choose to give when  & who at our discretion and to take us off their list. Bet they phone Again before too long.

Dear Worker.  As you say, you are PAID to ask if someone is interested in making a donation, but I and millions of hard working people like me are not being PAID to continually answer our PERSONAL home and mobile phones when we are trying to relax after a hard day at work. You may think you are doing a service for the needy but you are , in my opinion, just making people VERY ANGRY and putting us off ever giving to any caller, no matter how worthy they may be. In my opinion you are VERY INTRUSIVE and do much more HARM THAN GOOD. Good people dont need to be made to feel guilty to make you feel that you have done something good. Give us a break and STOP CALLING.

I'd rather they go away and stop interrupting me. I already give to charity every month. I don't need some idiot phoning me every day trying to make me cough up more than I can afford. I already give. Leave me alone and let me decide how and when I donate myself.

In fact, the only thing more annoying that they guys on the call are the idiots you get hassling you on the street. None of them work for free. If they did I'd have more patience. But it's their job to pester people into giving more money and it's extremely annoying.

Mine was from WaterAid. I used to donate to them years ago but stopped, seems like it may be connected but there's no way I'm going to start giving money away just because they call and ask for it.
