Its a call centerthat is employed by a number of charities. Its not a scam. Charities use these call centres because its more economical than calling themselves, so they save money. I think people need to stop acting like these are horrible people calling. They are just people who have chosen to work to raise money for charities rather than work for some corporate millionaire. They dont get paid much as its a charity (why would a charity employ a company that costs that much, they do it because its a cheap way of contacting people and raising money.. they're not stupid) and do not work on commission as they explained this after I agreed to raise my donation by 2 pounds (no bank details needed as they are calling on behalf of a charity that already has these). They are paid for how many people they manage to speak to, not how much money they bring in through there calls.

Thankyou kind person! It is thanks to people like yourself that my job is an absolute joy. You know how important our work is and how many £millions we raise every year for incredible causes. If only the world was full of more people like yourself!

I do not have a problem with giving to charity.  Even though we are pensioners we donate to three chosen charities, one of which is the Red Cross.  We recently had a call asking us to double our donation!. Even though my husband explained that we were on very limited income and we donated what we could, the man who called kept him on the 'phone for almost ten minutes, applying the most appalling pressure.  That is totally unfair.  I eventually took over the 'phone and told him that if we ever received another call we would cancel our donation and give to some other charity.

Keep getting phone calls think it's sum money making gits

It is flipping annoying!! Have had about 10 calls in last 2 weeks from this number, first time I missed it and called back (I was waiting for a call form restaurant so thought it's them) and heard the message 'it's from charity blah blah'. So took no action.
Got few more calls, 3 of them I have managed to take - every single time just to hear no-one talking and some background noise, like office (so prob call centre).
I do donate to Scope by DD - maybe it's on behalf of them.
But I'm really annoyed to be called so many times while I'm at work and when I actually manage to answer then to hear the silence!!

I donated to Scope about 4 years ago and they repeatedly called me afterwards but always hung up! Once, someone answered and I politely asked them to stop calling. It's been fine for a year or so but they've randomly started it up again. I've had about 10 calls in the last week (I saved the number in my phone so I know it's Scope) and no one answers when I pick up. It's really frustrating!

Just taken a call from this number - it was a representative from Unicef

This is unicef or maybe a parent company doing their calls for them, I was pounced on in the street and sent a text donating 3 pounds, now they call me every evening at the same time.

Someone called from that same number, been calling me all week at the same time each day (3pm), and I finally picked up today.
A male voice (british accent - didn't sound like an offshore call centre or anything) and asked to speak to a Maureen Wilson (thats not my name). I told him he had the wrong number and they hung up. Very strange. Doesn't sound like a charity to me - which is what everyone else posting on here is saying?

yes i also dontated £3 by text I get a call from them every otherday.. i dont want to talk to them about my donation nor do i want to increase it, working in lonfon i get caught everyday by some charity it jus becomes annoying after I while....

It's Unicef, you may have recently text them with regards to making a donation, its a call to say thank you and ask you to sign up to make monthly donations.

Yep defo a charity. Some tiger charity got me on the street and I texted them to donate £1 and did get a text to say thanks and they would give me a call to discuss my donation. They're currently calling me at least twice every day. Annoying. They're getting ripped a new one next time they call when I'm not in work.

I've been getting phone calls from this number at least two or three times a day it is WWF as I donated a £1 to save a tiger via text and was told they would phone to ask for gift aid. My friend also did this and they rang her at the same time, she answered and they tried to get her to sign up to monthly donations and when she said no they kept on hassling her to donate, i think she eventually hung up but i definatley will not be answering now!!

I've got 2 different ones calling me for the same charity. As far as I am concerned they are going too far with the constant calling just trying to squeeze more money out of me. As of now I'm cancelling my donation.
