I've been getting these calls too. If they were from a registered charity they would not be calling from a London area code. They would also not be using the same number to call on behalf of separate charities.

Please assume that it is a hoax and if you must answer do not confirm any details (Caller: "Hello Mrs X." Mrs X: "Yes.")

im sick to death of this number ringing me, they have run about 5 times today. they ring me every month!!

I have had 7 missed calls from this number in less than 1 week. I did run the race for life in July and take part in charity events already so it could have been any number of these things but I am always careful to tick no to my details being given out to 3rd parties. I thought they would stop calling after the 3rd go as most do but no, looks like I might have to phone and leave a message as the number states when you call it back but to be honest I should have to do that and waste my phone bill!

Don't these people realise that if you P'ss people off then that will result in less money from the few who DO give to these charities!

I think that the charities themselves do a sterling job, BUT please please stop the nuisance calls!!!

rang today [11.10.10] at 4.05pm - asked to speak to the wife - said they were from save the children fund. their operator tried to talk over me when i queried as to why they were calling a number that was registered with TPS. Got her to put me through to her manager.

another voice comes on line --- 'the operator says you have a complaint' - my reply was 'not as much as you are financially going to be hit with, if you don't suppress our contact details immediately and stop the calls'.

she apologised and agreed to stop the calls immediately ....... we shall see!!!!

I missed several calls from this number and didn't know who it was.

Eventually did manage to answer it & it was a 'representative' from Race 4 Life wanting to thank me for participating earlier in the year. I asked why they couldn't send an email to be told it was a telephone campaign. The representative had a long speech, which asked me to sign up to a £10 per month donation, I said no, the speech continued (I asked her to hurry up) and then asked me to agreed to £10 per quarter. By this point I was very bored and told her I couldn't continue the call.

I fully expect they will call again. I've saved the number and won't pick up in the future.

Got call tonight  - said they are a charity

Its a charity, i joined Candis a while ago, which is charity magazine and i have been getting phone calls everyday now for weeks. I don't answer them, they want money and i already pay for the magazine each month

didnt answer i thought it might be from london way but dont really know their area code anyway, saved the number as 'dunno' lol

Really pissed off with these calls

The call I had said it was from the World Wildlife Fund, and said that I had texted them about saving tigers............I hadn't!  Could I spare 5 minutes?  No.  What, not even 5 minutes?  I put the phone down.  Is it a number that lots of charities are using?
I think the reason they say that you have contacted / texted them, is that if you're registered with telephone preference, they are not meant to phone you, unless you made the initial contact.  I will be phoning World Wildlife Fund today to ask if this service is operating on behalf of them.

fed up with calls from this number, have had four or five a day for the last week a real pain in the neck as i'm working and keep rushing to answer it thinking its the kids. my boss is not very pleased. when you answer there is no one there and the only time i rang back it said it was a charity and if i didnt want this number to call again i had to ring another number! 02076197888. i havent rung them worried it might be some sort of a scam has anyone rung it?. i just ignore it now and am going to get it blocked by my provider

It's Christian Aid... got mobbed by a group of good looking girls and voluntarily gave them my number, it's a new number too and haven't given it to any other charity. Just wished they would STOP ringing now.

My husband had a call from this number last night.  the caller said that they were calling as he had been a customer of DFS, but he hasn't, which he told them.  They then proceeded to say that as a customer of DFS he could go to a website called 'hcforyou' to complete a survey and win £300!!  i have just checked the website out as we both new it was all a bit fishy, and it is for Hitachi Finance!!

I have had 2 phone calls this evening from this number. Reading back on the comments above, the only one that would apply to me is the St. Johns Ambulance, as I texted them about more info on their TV Advert.

Seen as there are so many phone calls concerning different organisations from that number: I would advise to NOT to answer it, as you may find your bill has rocketed. Also would be a good idea to report the number to your Mobile Phone Company. Might even send it off to Watchdog.....

I don't know who the caller is but they have called me 6 times in the past week. As far as I can remember, I didn't sign up for any charities or organisation. It's so annoying! Next time they call, I'm going to tell them not to call me again.

They keep calling me!!! They're so persistent it's annoying. If anybody finds out how to make them go away please let me know...

I have had over a dozen calls in the last month from this number. Most of the time I miss the calls (they have a knack of calling when I'm driving)  but on the three occasions I've answered it's been three different charities. One was definitely St Johns Ambulance, one was some sort of childrens charity, and to be honest I cut off the third one mid sentence, by asking to be removed from their calling list. I am really fed up of the constant calls now :(
