It's Christian Aid - they keep calling me as I donated via text message £3 last year as a single donation. I was happy back then for donating, but they keep calling me everyday, and every day I say I'm not interested, and please stop calling me as I'm working. Just start ignoring their calls really.

They don't realise by behaving like that and chasing other people for more and more money, they make everyone against any donations, ever.

When you ring the number there's a message saying Listen (?) are calling on behalf of a charity. They ask you to call 02076197888 if you want to stop the calls - there is a recorded message on that number. Having done that, they then rang my mobile a few minutes later!!  No idea where they have got the information as I am ex directory and I don't give out my mobile number.

I completely agree with Charlie. These nuisance calls have made me think I will stop giving to charity, especially if my hard-earned cash is going to pay these fools' wages.

This number has been ringing me for months & never leaving any message.
Today I answered it & they asked for me by name, although I'm on TPS for no telesales calls, so I said "you've not yet identified yourself" & bloke said he was calling from LISTEN on behalf of Water Aid - so I immediately said that we already give monthly to them, whereupon he said that Water Aid hasn't received my money since April 2007 & so would I be interested in re-donating.  I said the monthly DD is still going out of my bank account & so obviously I'll have to have serious words with my bank!  He said I can find all Water Aid's contact details on their website.
After checking a recent bank statement & finding presumably relevant numbers by the DD entry, I rang him back, but just got a recorded message saying that I'd been rung by Listen on behalf of a charity &, if I didn't want to be rung by them again, to ring another number & quote GEN, or something like that.

Yet again for the 4th time this number ring my elderly mother - who has great difficulty reaching the phone and is in pain using the stairs.

This needs reporting to the telephone preference society

    http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/

    ----------------------------------
My elderly mother is already frightened and cofused with these unnecessary intrusive calls - she gets enough from india call centres (fake PC anti-virus s/w and sky tv insurance, etc..)

She is REGISTERED with the TPS - but why is this UK number harassing my poor mother.

Why is nothing being done about it?

The repeated calls are upsetting my already fragile father. He is pretty deaf and not great on his feet. I would happily tell these people what I thought of then if I could. This is harassment at the extreme. He rang the BT help number and they said there was nothing they could do. An important message is that telephone preference status lapses after a year with BT so some of us think we are protected when we are not. Worth remembering when there are bouts of these calls.

Believe this might be a 'charity' call, no message left on my answering machine - hopefully in future it will be screened out by TPS (Telephone Preference Service)...

looking at these messages, they seem to be a call centre for the charity muggers roaming the main streets of newcastle and every other city... first it was 'save the tigers' then it was 'unicef' and now it's 'cancer research uk' who i did give money to but i swear the people doing the mugging are the same people for each charity......... smells like cobra to me and it stinks!

I have had the red cross ringing me on several occasions to increase my donation which i have declined several times know, i had the same with the rspca they kept on and on, my husband pulled the plug on one of their operators as he wouldn't take no for an answer, we give to quite a few charities.  Today i looked at my bank statement and guess what the rspca had increased my donation i'm absolutely p***** off it was a year ago that they were pestering me and i haven't heard anything since, i now know why, so i've cancelled all the ones that have been bothering me, i wanted to help but they have gone to far. I saw a miss call today from this number, and I immediately googled it.. and found this thread. I thought it must have something connected with charities because I signed up with one a few days ago, and now I regret it.. So I just add it to my black list. I won't pick up any unknown call ever after.

Marie Curie cancer charity. Was cornered by some bloke in the high street the other day to donate to them via text, donated a couple of quid to get rid of him (wasn't in the mood for him pestering me for 10 minutes if i kept saying no!!)
He tells me after i've sent the text i'll get a call from them in a weeks time to ask if i want to set up a direct debit to donate.
Literally 2 minutes after the guy left me alone the calls from this number started (so much for them calling a week later!!!!!) and i've been getting a couple a day for the last week. I've not answered the phone, i just assume its them as the calls started when i donated.

The majority of you are ALL idiots. Pure and simple. Gutless morons that really shouldn't even own a phone. If you don't want 'charities' to call you - FYI Charities now run like a business and THEY pass on your details to these companies - simply DON'T pass your number on. I give to three charities and NEVER once have had a phone call from them, because I don't give my number out. If you can't remember how they might have got your number, then think back, it could be a 'harmless' survey you filled out, or you signed up by texting in a donation, or sometimes even the charities that you're supporting themselves let you down by passing your details on to these companies. I know because I used to work for one. They are paid to ask you for money THREE times, they WON'T give up unless you tell them you NEVER wish to be called again. Everything is computerized, so you are LITERALLY on a database that goes round and round.

Whether you wish to believe it or not, charities are demanding these kind of services because they've turned into businesses. Its disheartening. I've given up working for organizations like these after I realised how they are run. If you really want to make a difference, VOLUNTEER.

In the mean time, stop complaining over your own stupidity and take some responsibility you insolent whiny f*cks!

Not quite sure what makes you feel the need to call a string of people who have all given money to charity, a bunch of Morons. i am afriad it is syncial thoughtless comments like yours that is categorized into the "moron" section.

I believe it i smade clear how they got our numbers but I do not see that it is that, that is the issue here. the issue is the continuing calls with no message being left..... and on behalf of my fellow charity givers who do not answer unknown numbers.... I do apologize that we did not previously work for one of these companies and know "the tricks of the trade".

To defamte peope online in such a manner does not represent your ealrier claim to be a regular chaity donater.... i suggest you spend more time on your own anger issues.

Good luck with the next job.
