Report a phone call from 02076197597 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- sallyThis number has called me well over 40 times now. I had heard about calls that can cost you lots of money if you ring them back. So I rang 02 to complain and there is nothing that they can do as its a landline but sometimes if you ring them back it can end up costing you, so beware and just do what I did - I have renamed it on my phone so that it says DO NOT ANSWER - SCAM !!! and my ring tone for it is "hello it's an [***]!"
- sallyI have just left the above message and then I saw that someone had donated to a mosquito net... I did the same during the children in need appeal. I am now wondering whether there is a connection. I give money to many organisations but if this continues, I will cancel all of them, change my number and NEVER donate to any other appeal.
- Caller: Unknown [mosquito net appeal???]
- A believer| 1 replyHaving read some of the recent posts on this forum, I'm really rather shocked at some of the language that has been used towards some of the supporters from fundraisers working at Listen. By all means explain to a lay person the process by which charity giving is done nowadays, but can you kindly omit the vulgar name calling - as it sounds like bully boy tactics being adopted, and it doesn't endear anyone to a company of this ilk. I'm very surprised that the Listen management have not come down on this sort of uncouth behaviour.

- pop replies to Not an idiot| 1 replyHa ! I've asked no end of times .. and still they call. I donated as requested by text, £3 to fgive a child clean water etc etc, not knowing I wd be bombarded regularly, some days more than once. Eventually i got cross with them after asking them NOT TO CALL ME AGAIN. But they did. So I found the address of the complaints department of Unesco and e-mailed them. I pointed out that despite what they doing is legal ('read the small print') and probably well intentioned and worthy, people who get so tossed off with being pressured all credibility is lost and didn't do much for their reputation. I also suggested that they looked up their phone number(s) on Google and dicovered how hacked off people are getting, and how many of you (us) are never going to donate again. Received another phone call (I shouted at them), then later a very nice e-mail apologising and saying that they would make sure peoples' numbers will be taken off their call list if anyone objected. Have not heard a thing for quite a while now.
- ericgood - well done you
- Pop replies to popHere's what they said:-
Thank you for taking the time to alert us to the internet forums THAT you have discovered about the numbers 02034355718, 02076197885 and 02076197889 and their association with UNICEF UK.
We are very sorry to read that our telephone fundraising activities have left the contributors to these forums with a negative view of UNICEF UK’s important work for children.
We would never contact a supporter if they had indicated they were not happy for us to do so.
When a supporter donates by text to our Syria’s Children’s appeal to help us provide desperately vulnerable children with water, medicine and shelter, they receive a thank you text which includes a link to our website on how to ‘opt out’ of further contact from UNICEF UK.
Such as :http://www.unicef.org.uk/UNICEFs-Work/Emergen ... -syria/smsinfo/ or http://www.unicef.org.uk/UNICEFs-Work/Emergen ... syria/smssyria/
In addition, had they had picked up our first call and said that they did not want further contact from UNICEF, then we would thank them for their support and end the call, then remove their number from our calling lists.
They could have also contacted the Supporter Care team here, to suppress their number, and so it is very unfortunate that these valued supporters have chosen to contact an internet forum instead.
UNICEF receives no funding from the United Nations, and our programmes in areas such as health, education, and child protection, rely on the goodwill and generosity of people such as you. So we are very grateful that you have contacted us, as without feedback like yours we would not be aware of how our fundraising is being perceived by the public.
With best wishes
Gillian

You're invited!
Join UNICEF UK and thousands of others in London's Hyde Park on 8 June for the Big IF event. This is our biggest chance to come together and demand an end to child hunger.
UNICEF works around the world to make a lasting difference to the lives of children.
The United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF, Company limited by Guarantee, Registered in England and Wales Number 3663181, Registered Office 30a Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DU, Registered Charity No. 1072612 (England and Wales) SC043677 (Scotland). - dontlisten replies to workerListen UK is a horrible institution. Bar all calls from these people. They only want more money from you, set by targets. All they care about are making bonuses.
- Rob annoyedThey are an over-aggressive company that works on behalf of a number of uk charities. I received two càlls per day for ages. Finally called the number back, only to get a recorded message telling me to call another number to stop the calls. A week later I still get calls. A real shambles of a company -- unsubscribing is too inconvenient (too many steps) plus it doesn't work anyway. The company also appears to have changed its name from "Plan". All very dodgy with poor business practices. I won't give to charities that use this company as a result, if others follow, perhaps then they will clean up their act.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Phone head| 1 replyIt's like this - fundraising companies like Listen (for which I work) wouldn't exist if charities didn't find them useful and cost-effective. Im sure you've heard of outsourcing before - well that's what this is. It means that charities don't have to employ staff directly to do this work for them, which would cost them more and be less flexible. Of course charities do still do fundraising themselves, but that's mostly for corporate and major donors, which involve long-term high-level relationship management. But for small donations most charities these days use third parties, for home, street and phone fundraising (although some like Shelter and Greenpeace do employ their own home and street fundraisers, I believe).
If charities could raise all their funds by people running marathons or doing voluntary work then I'm sure they would, but that just isn't realistic. And if they could raise all they need from £3 text donations that would be great, but sadly theyre just a drop in the ocean. Your one-off £3 'gift' won't make much difference to anyone except to you, dear donor, as it might make you feel a bit better about yourself. But that's not really supporting a charity, and you know it. I do understand that £3 really is all that some people can afford to give, and that's fine, but frankly they'd be better off keeping it themselves for all the good they're doing (in my opinion, of course).
But even in these cash-strapped times many people can afford more than £3 and can do so on a regular basis - it's just that most of them won't bother parting with it without some persuasion. Actually, most of them won't part with it even with some persuasion! It's very simple - if you don't want follow-up calls then don't send a text donation, go to the charity's website and do it that way instead, but don't give em your phone number! As far as the charities are concerned, if you make a donation of any kind then you're fair game to be asked for more. The ends justify the means for them, and if you get pissed off by being hassled well that's just too bad. They don't get to hear it anyway - it's the fundraiser at the other end of the phone who has to endure all your moans and insults.
Fundraising is a tough job - and I've had plenty of different jobs, so I do know - especially considering the targets we're expected to achieve and all the stress that entails (some of them are just impossible), and the low pay and all the stress that entails too. Listen prides itself on being the best in the biz and having charities come to them for their campaigns (rather than having to seek work) - I don't know how true that is but there's certainly no shortage of different charities we work for. Having never worked for any other fundraising company I can't compare them, but I work with a couple of people who have and they do say Listen are better. However, if you can't cut it then you don't work there very long, and even now after a year I still dont feel secure there, even though I know I've proved my worth to them and I'm a pretty consistent high performer.- Caller: Listen
