02076197597 called yesterday but well spoken female said she couldn't hear me, although I could hear her perfectly. Said it wasn't urgent. Just had another call from same number from male caller on behalf of National Trust.

I am both a member and work 2 days a week as an unpaid volunteer without claiming expenses. I suppose that gets round my TPS membership.

Nice chat and I had to sympathise with him cooped up in an office in London when he could be out in the Lake District, the Dorset Coast, the Peak District, or on the Roman Wall!!

charity support group - cold calling

do you have any idea how much phone fundraising raises for charity each year? If we were to stop 'calling you' as you ask then most charities would fall in to serious issues.  It may make someone like yourself angry but the majority of people I speak to (I work for listen) are pretty positive about it and keen to sign up because they believe in charity.  I will presume that you dont.  The sad reality is that most people are quite selfish and can't be bothered to give to charity, but when prompted to think about it, they will.

Called me and siad they where calling from Water aid. I exepct this is a company that gets paid by "Charities" to see if people will up their current donation.

I've very pi**ed off, to the point where i'm going to stop my monthly donation to water aid. Charities are over stepping the mark, people give because they choose too, independantly.

It's disgusting how much of the money raised goes to pay for "Admin"

I will Champaign to stop charity cold calling, and even worst is the charity muggers whom pounce on you in the high street. The net result is vulnerable people end up signing up to support causes they cannot really afford to do.

If people what to give to good causes it should be at their entire free will. And for the paid Charity muggers/tele sales people; If you want to help, then volunteer your time for FREE, or give your time for FREE to help other people.

Agreed, on both counts.  A nearby local council has banned these "chuggers" (charity collectors who stop people in the atreet).  Apparently a number oc councils in the North West have done the same.  Might be worth a call to your local council

Today, 25th. Feb. 2012 Have made several attempts to call back but always engaged.

Don't know if it's related, but, the only unrecognised calls, that I've managed to pick-up on of late, have all been from a heavily, Indian/Pakistani, accented person who seems intent on doing great things to my P.C.

they are an organisation collecting money on behalf of different charities. So it depends who you already give money too - that's how they get your number.

These callers have been pestering me for a while now, not only on my mobile but on my landline.

Getting very narked, to say the least.

Any advice how to tell them to f**k off?

I kept getting a lot of calls from this number. Never rings for long and has cut off by the time you pick up. If you phone back it is engaged.

I mailed Christianaid because I thought it was something to do with them as I'd had a call from them one day when all this started happening.... but Christianaid mailed me back to confirm it IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM............. it is not a number they use.... so it is a wind up merchant nuisance caller.

I have mailed my phone provider Virgin and asked them to block this number from calling me. No reply from Virgin so far, but not had anymore calls from the wretched nuisance caller either. Fingers crossed.

I have had a few calls from this number but i have never answered the phone. I did try to phone them back on my mobile wilst with holding my number but my operator said number not recognised. If i phone the same number on my house phone then the phones rings,Very strange.
I really dont know how they got my house number as i have just changed operators from Virgin media to Primus and have not given my number out to any organisation.
If they continue to pester me i will just pick up the phone and leave it off the hook so that they can listen to music.

i kept getting missed calls from this number after I donated (via text) to a charity helping older people warm their homes in the winter. Their leaflet did say I would get a call afterwards but because of my odd working hours I'm never around to picking up. Oh well

I made a donation by text to Save the Children and I got a call from this number a couple of weeks afterwards. The person on the other end mentioned the text donation I made, so that is how they got my number.

Sad to say I won't be donating in such a way ever again.
