Report a phone call from 02076197597 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.

It appears to be some 3rd party charity call centre, who probably do work for a whole range of charities - given that we have all received the call and there are a variety of charities reported - it would make sense for charities to operate in this manner to keep their costs down.

Anyway, I donated recently via text, so presumably thats why I'm getting the call.

Charity is very important to me however I do draw the line at being hassled.

After receiving several missed phone calls from this number, l finally answered it on Saturday. I requested some free information from St Johns Ambulance following an ad l had seen on TV.  The person l spoke to said he was calling to check if l had received it and also to tell me more about what they do.  I told him l was busy and asked if the information could be sent to me by post.  Nothing has arrived and l'm still receiving a call from them at least every two days

Mine was from Amnesty International. This organisation behind this number obviously deals with donations from many different charities.

I am so sick of this place. They started calling a few days before Christmas. The guy started his speech and I told him I didn't have time for him. They are after money. I sponsor a child through World Vision. These kind of calls make me want to stop my sponsorship. They call all hours of the day and evening everyday for weeks. The calls then stop and start up again. I'm looking at reporting them to BT for harassment. I now pick up the phone and immediately disconnect the call.

The same here. Nurmerous phone calls at all times with breaks of a week or two in between. I have just filed a complaint against them with TPS. I doubt it will stop. So annoying!!

For anyone who is receiving unwanted calls from this company:

Go to the TPS website and fill out the complaint form. I did last week after receiving countless calls. TPS got back to me that they are in the process of contacting this company and having me permanently removed from their list. If they call again after 28 days, TPS will take further action against them.

    Re: 02076197597

I, too, have been receiving unwanted and unsolicited calls from this number after stopping to 'support' some charity when I was out and about in Newcastle City Centre. The person who stopped me (Stephen) said he was "not after money" just support which I thought was novel so I signed up. Despite being "not after money" I have been asked for it when I answered the initial call. What worries me is that, some how, they've got my land-line number, which is something I NEVER give out due to fact that it is not 'my number' but the number of the house-owner, which I use for my broadband connection. When this company rang me today (land-line) I challenged the caller and asked how the company got this number to which he replied "you must have given out this number, we can't ring on a number you haven't given". I presume they've cross-referenced my name and address with other organizations, or bought data from a 3rd party, to obtain this number which, for a charity, is a reprehensible practice.

To get to the point, I won't be giving my 'support' to any charity ever again because of this reason and neither should any of you here. The comedian Jimmy Carr is bang on the money when he describes these organizations out on the streets as 'charity-muggers'. Does anybody know whether there's a charity complaints commission to which I complain. Any help will be appreciated.

This company keeps calling me on behalf of the charity Plan. So far in the last week they have called me 10 times!!!! Whilst I was interested in supporting this particular charity they assured me my details would not be passed on to a third party- they lied. This charity will not see a penny from me. Don't give your phone number out to chuggers!

It is unlikely that you would be called by Listen if you had not given your details, either directly or indirectly to the charity they represent, especially if you are registered with TPS.

The charity has not betrayed your trust as they are simply using the services of Listen to perform a task on their behalf.

It appears that many charities are farming out their marketing and operations such as clothing collections to third-party commercial organisations. It may simply be too difficult for charities to use volunteers for such things these days due to health and safety, data protection, background check and other issues to contend with.

Ofcom introduced new rules this month aimed at automated dialler calls and other aspects of cold calling. Hopefully this should reduce the instance of blank answering machine/voice-mail messages and curtail the number of calls that can be made to a number in a 24 hour period.

After being harrassed for several months by this organization and filing a complaint with TPS, I contacted World Vision. Here is their response:

Thank you so much for your support of World Vision, we really appreciate your kindness in wanting to make a difference for those living in poverty.

We are very concerned about the telephone calls you have been receiving and are very sorry for any inconvenience or stress that they have caused you.

We will certainly be investigating this as a matter of priority and I have passed the information you have given me to one of my managers, (Rebekah Capon) to take it further.

To set your mind at rest about us as an organisation I will just say that it is not our policy to give out our supporters telephone numbers and in fact we do not have your telephone number on our database so where they have got it from I really don’t know. We will contact you as soon as we understand what has happened.

Just to reassure you again that we will look into this as a matter of urgency and it is a great shame that your sponsorship with us has started in such an unfortunate manner.

Should you have any queries, kindly call our Supporter Helpline on 01908 84 10 10 and one of the team will be happy to assist you. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

    With kind regards

This number says they are 'Listen' who calls on behalf of charities. I obtained a number to call 02076197888 and say that I did not want any more calls on my number. I'm waiting to see if it works.

yeah it would be Listen in Holloway Road. I actually work in a similar call centre, and what always works and what you should always do to stop them harrasing you is to simply be polite and say "I would like my name removed from the records" or even better say you no longer live in the UK and you are just visiting or something. These people are not paid to get money out of you, they are paid to ASK you for money a certain number of times so that's why they keep calling. Seriously the no longer living here trick works and they'll never call again.

After how many attempts do they give up? I have caller display so only answer numbers I recognise as being people I actually want to talk to. I absolutely LOATHE cold callers; I am in the TPS and am ex-directory but still the parasites keep coming day after day, several times a day. Mostly they're 084X prefixes ... or International ... or Unknown ... or Withheld. It is really frustrating and infuriating. But this 02076197597 number has appeared 9 times on my call list within just the last few days. I keep hoping that if I ignore it enough times they will give up and go away. All they get each time is 1571 Answer. Never leave a message, of course. I know charities have got to get the funding in somehow, but this relentless onslaught and barage of calls is really not going to promote goodwill. And yes, I have given a lot of money to charities over the years, and been a child sponsor, in case any of you are wondering. But I do not, repeat, DO NOT give when hounded in this pushy, persistent and intrusive fashion.

I have had daily calls from this number and when I eventually spoke to them they said that they were "The British Red Cross".

If the other posters report it being other charities, then perhaps it is an umbrella call centre that many charities use.
